Here from the UltraSignup newsletter. What a finish! Glad you were able to capture it. Edit: Just checked the results; didn't realise it was a 42YO battling a 24YO!
I don’t know how to put this but you need to stay further away from runners during a race like this. You can’t overtake runners like that when they don’t know if it’s you or the other competitor. You also don’t tell elite runners how far it is to go, that is their job to know maybe one runner knew and one didn’t. You even got in the way of the lead runner when you overtook him. Just seems a little selfish all for the the chance at ‘good footage’. Please don’t take the criticism the wrong way.
Hey there, thanks for the criticism. As a runner and competitor myself, I understand how important it is to respect the runners and to not have an impact on the race, which is why I made sure to pass by the lead runner during a wide uphill where I wouldn't inconvenience him. And for the distance remaining, I get what you are trying to say, but I would find it difficult to apply. That would mean no one at the aid stations or on the course should be allowed to say anything about the course?
i don't think you ever been at front of races or euro trail races, filming like this is very common. And there is nothing against giving out details of the race or distance, if that was an issue then there wouldn't be mile markers or allow crews to help out and give details of where they are and where their competition is
Excellent footage! I agree and disagree with mr big. I agree telling a runner especially a elite runner how far he or she is from aid or other runner is not ok. Yes they crew can tell them what they need to know at specific aid stations. Most races only allows crew a certain area for that reason. The way you filmed was amazing and i didn’t see you getting in the way of the runner. I would be curious on how the rd felt on this topic. Knowing him personally i not sure he would appove. Thank you for creating a great video I enjoy watching it.
Impressive finish and impressive that anyone could keep up with them to film this!
