Ymir got the power of the titan coz she wanted to get power, she was being hunted by people and hunting dogs. Meanwhile the boy in the future is exploring the abandoned island with his 'friendly' dog, there is no way he want the big power like titan (assumed the worm still exist)
I agree that it's hard to believe that Attack on Titan is over. It's been a long and emotional journey, but it has also been one of the most rewarding and thought-provoking stories I have ever experienced. I think the finale was a fitting conclusion to the series. It was emotional, action-packed, and thought-provoking. It also left many questions unanswered, which is fitting for a show that has always been about the mysteries of the world. I'm sure that fans will be debating the finale for years to come. But one thing is for sure: Attack on Titan is a masterpiece, and it will be remembered as one of the greatest anime series of all time.
The point was to give peace to his friends, for their lifetime and remove the curse of Yimir. He always knew that he couldn't stop the cycle of violence.
@DBT1007 The worm is the source of life Ymir just created rules for it The path Like a birdcage, past and future Elder humans will never be free Even death I like the way it ended
@@DBT1007you got quite a lot of things wrong. let me help you: eren doesnt want to kill himself. eren doesnt want to "bait out the worm". eren dosnt "mix" with the worm. ymir doesnt smile because she sees mikasa loving a "hard boy" too. ymir isnt freed because the worm is gone. ymir smiles because she witnesses mikasa letting go of the one she loved the most. that is what ymir never could. that is why she was stuck in the paths. that is why the titan powers existed. mikasa showed ymir that you CAN let go. and that is what she does. now she is no longer stuck in the paths. which means the worm has no connection to the real world anymore. and without ymir in the paths building titans, the titan powers are gone.
I agree. And the ending was so realistic, I'm glad Isayama was so logical about not giving us happy ending that everyone wants, instead he wants to realistic, given the situation of our own world too.
Buddy, his main priority was fulfilling his dream and expressing his disappointment over how the outside world is, whatever benefits he gave his friends and eldia are just secondary. He said it, he wanted to flatten it all once the world didn’t look like the book.
Peace from war yes, but i don't think his friends had a peaceful life, imagine u still have to live after knowing u failed to save 80% of mankind, not to mention u're also responsible to prevent it from happening on the first place
I figured the baby scene would hit particularly hard since you guys are recent parents. It's so horrifying but at the aame time it represents that tiny bit of hope and goodness in humanity in the darkest moments.
Eren is not able to see the future past his death because the power of the titans doesn’t exist anymore. His goal was to make sure the people closest to him lived long lives and to remove conflict in their lifetime.
@@everforward5561 Different circumstances, Ymir was being hunted, was afraid, and scared when she received her Titan Powers. She wished for a form where she couldn’t be killed and be strong (a Titan) and a place where she couldn’t die (The Paths). The after credits is open to interpretation so we don’t even know if the Halllucigenia is even there but the Kid is going in there willingly and out of curiosity compared to Ymir who did it out of Survival, so to me it leaves a hopeful note that it’d be different than before.
Eren already know that he's going to die in the future that's why he keep going to past after he got killed by mikasa but the result are still the same, he said it to armin
yep, Eren was no longer able to see the future past his death because the power of the titans ceased to exist after he transferred the Founding Titan to Zeke and then killed Zeke. The Founding Titan was the source of the power to see the future, so without it, Eren was no longer able to access that ability. Eren's goal was indeed to make sure that the people closest to him lived long lives and to remove conflict in their lifetime. He believed that the only way to achieve this was to eliminate the threat posed by the outside world, which he felt would require the Rumbling. The Rumbling was a massive attack that Eren unleashed using the power of the Founding Titan to crush and destroy all of the nations outside of Paradis Island. Eren's actions were controversial and sparked much debate among fans of the series. Some viewers believed that Eren was justified in his actions, while others believed that he was ultimately a villain. Ultimately, whether or not Eren was a hero or a villain is a matter of opinion. There is no right or wrong answer, and each viewer is entitled to their own interpretation of the story. Despite the controversial nature of Eren's actions, there is no doubt that he was a complex and fascinating character. He was driven by a strong sense of love and loyalty, and he was willing to sacrifice everything to protect those he cared about. His story is a powerful reminder of the complexities of human nature and the difficult choices that we must sometimes make in order to survive.
Good catch Kat on Mikasa not being able to have her memories wiped, which means her conversation with Eren (the time spent in the log cabin) happened right in the moments before she killed Eren (also why you see Eren's face with titan marks in her paths dimension talk). She was also experiencing a headache at the time which means Ymir was watching them.
am Japanese. I'm using automatic translation, so I don't know if I can understand it well, but please let me know. The Japanese have lived peacefully for decades thanks to their defeat in World War II and the peace education that followed. I think it is a wonderful country that many people who died for their country in kamikaze attacks dreamed of. However, while enjoying this peace, somewhere in my heart I think that it will not last until 100 or 1000 years from now, just like the ending of AOT. That's why I want to cherish the casual daily life of racing up the hill or playing catch. It was fun to see the reactions of both of you. I would like to take a long journey with you again.
It shows that Mikasa's feelings remained unchanged until her death. 36:45 Dandelion: true love A single white rose: love at first sight Yellow tulip: fame, unrequited love A single tulip also means "You are my destiny. 37:43 Four Carnations Single carnation: you are my destiny (white carnation) White carnations: pure love. Rejection of love Four carnation : I will love you forever
@@stepthenutri I am Japanese". This language of flowers is uniquely Japanese and also applies to Mikasa, who is an oriental. Since the attack on titan set in Europe, I used the oriental language of flowers to convey my feelings to Eren so that no one would notice.
Eren's goal was not world peace or eternal salvation for paradis coz it's unattainable. He always knew war will always be there. The very goal is for his friends to live, happy long lives. No more titan's curse which coz for his friends' lives to lengten. And his friends got to live longer and died before paradis even got bombed. It was bombed centuries later
I just wanna give a big hug to Mikasa, my sweetest girl. ending a 2000 years curse, freeing ymir and save the world, even if she had to k*ll her most beloved. What a finale. Some facts here: - the bird is actually wrapping the scarf around mikasa. - indeed Ackermans can not have their memories erased, thats why Eren chose to take her to the paths (the cabin reality), almost at the end, Mikasa had all her memories of that time when she lead the last attack. - In Eren's grave, Mikasa wrote "Here forever, rest peacefully. My most beloved, my dear. 854" - in the credits scene, is shown Mikasa died, and then you have a small glimpse of an old Armin visiting their graves, she was buried next to Eren. - They got to spend 4 years in the cabin world we saw (4 years in paths time, that of course in real time was just seconds). He dies there after that time because of the ymir's curse, and that's the moment Mikasa in real world did the last charge to stop him. - Eren had his eyes closed all throughout the rumbling, he opened them in his last moment to see Mikasa one last time.
@@Etphoneholmesyep when mikasa killed him was exact time he died cuz of the curse in the Path as an illusion. I have rewatched so many times to actually recognize this 😂. What a masterpiece
Other things to note as well: - If you count the seasons in the 1st time-lapse, you'll find that it's 7 years plus the 3 years after they killed Eren then you see Mikasa with Jean (it's way clearer in the manga) so she grieved 10 years for him and Jean waited 10 years for her which means they got married at age 29-30. Since they were 19 during season 4. - the one singing along linked horizon at the ending is Mikasa.
Don't think the ending with boy and the tree implied a repition of the cycle. Keep in mind when Ymir encountered the life force she was hunted, by dogs too, so the power she created was that of a stronger body and a invisible connection to the Eldians, so she wouldn't get hurt any more. By contrast, the boy in the end seems to be peacefully exploring with a loyal canine companion. Chances are, if he does encounter the life force in that tree-cave, the power springing from him might be more benevolent.
Yup I LOVE Kat taking in the bleakness of the ending and working through that. It’s like the scene between Zeke and Armin, it’s about the little things in life. Even if conflict continues and humanity is doomed to repeat the same mistakes, there is still hope and there is still love. Not to be too mushy about it lol 😅 Anyhow it’s been a great ride with you two, thanks for watching it with us!
What? Where did I say that? And even then thats more mature than "everyone survives, everyone is happy" ending we got. Oh wow the main cast all lived happily ever after and the unknown plebians died of nuclear war. Wow so deep. Im 14 and this is deep. No whats a more mature and sophisticated ending is Eren breaking the cycle of life, and going against fate itself. Putting his fists up against fate. Having erens character turn into a "im an idiot thats why I killed 80 percent of people, also jean rails mikasa, and paradise gets nuked" wow thats so deep. My "peaceful" ending entails breaking this cycle by wiping everyone out. The cringevenger alliance, the people of the world, and wiping the memories of paradise once more. Thats Erens true freedom and success for his people. @lpreactions565
yeah and actually its a on going theme through out the story like Erwin speech before the great charge. He said to answer Floch "No matter what you do or what kind of life you had you end up dying, does it mean that Life is meaningless?"
@@user-qx1id1dt8x and the dude still believed that life wasn't meaningless till the end, that's wild!!! Erwin is another level of fighting spirit and will force
@@lilkurva180Eren's not a hero, I think that's what you're missing. This story isn't a hero's journey, it's a cautionary tale about concentrating too much power in any one person or group's hands.
The talk between the two of you was wonderful. I like happy endings, and I was satisfied with the ending of Attack on Titan. I think it's a realistic ending, and one person named Eren fought a battle against free will and lost. I think we have successfully completed that growth and change. I don't think such creative works come out very often, and I'm grateful to Mr. Isayama.
I love Zeke building sandcastles during what is essentially the end of the world. He's so iconic. One of my favorite characters to be honest. I absolutely love the moment of Armin saying thank you to Eren and it cuts to Eren looking shocked because it feels very reminiscent of Mikasa thanking Eren for wrapping her scarf. Both Armin and Mikasa thanked Eren for helping them and showed him appreciation when he thought he was worthless. After all these years, it's finally over. We are free. Goodbye to all of the amazing characters from this story, both alive and dead. Goodbye Armin and Mikasa. And to Eren, the boy who sought freedom, goodbye. Thank you, Isayama.
@alexinator-hh5fe the sandcastle is a metaphor to his ideology when he was explaining it to Armin. Life being meaningless and short, building a sandcastle that's just going to disappear in a few hours.
I agree that Zeke's sandcastle building is an iconic moment. It is a reminder that even in the face of despair, there is always room for hope and imagination. Zeke's ability to find joy in such a dire situation is a testament to his resilience and strength of character. The moment of Armin thanking Eren is also a powerful and poignant one. It is a reminder that even the most troubled and conflicted of individuals can find redemption and forgiveness. Armin's words of gratitude are a balm to Eren's wounded soul, and they give him a sense of peace that he has not felt in a long time. The ending of Attack on Titan is a bittersweet one. While it is a tragedy to say goodbye to these beloved characters, it is also a celebration of their lives and their struggles. They have faced unimaginable challenges, but they have never given up on their dreams of freedom and peace. Their legacy will live on, inspiring generations to come. Thank you, Isayama, for sharing this incredible story with the world. It is a masterpiece that will be remembered for years to come.
The last kid finding the cave below the tree, even though it's a parallel to Yimir Fritz, it's still represented differently. Ymir was a slave running for her life when she accidentally fell into the hole. The last kid with the dog, was exploring out of curiosity, so he was free. Even after so much violence, freedom is achieved.
This episode was absolutely incredible. It was everything i expected and more. I think i cried about 5 times throughout the entire episode it was so powerful and tragic, yet so beautiful somehow. As someone who has been following this show for the past few years now it's very sad to see it end after all this time, but all good things must come to an end eventually. A lot of us Manga readers were sceptical to the ending but i think the people who didn’t like it simply didn’t understand AOT in the end. One of the scenes which people disliked the most was Eren’s breakdown to Armin in the paths. People felt it was pathetic, like Armin said it was, but also so out of character for him. Eren broke down because the emotional wall he built around himself finally came crashing down after it was all over. He let out his true feelings for the first time ever. The scene with Eren and Armin in the paths was so beautifully made. «Wait for me in hell». In the end they both realized neither of them were the good guys. No one was in aot, which is again a reoccuring theme in this show. As we saw in the end the cycle of hatred continued even after everything Eren did for them. This is what i LOVE about this show so much. It’s hyper realistic. It is basic human nature to turn to war sooner or later. As Eren stated himself «I dont know why i did all this, this all happened, because i am a stupid idiot who gained godly powers». This is kinda the same as what happened in the real world as well with certain bad people in our history, no? A cool little detail i think a lot of people missed it that in the intro of season 2 we see Zeke’s beast titan running around with tons of other animals. Those were all the previous Beast titans from the previous owners of it. Very cool to see all the previous nine titans finally being shown. Isayama’s foreshadowing is simply next level. He is a genius. The more u rewatch the show, the more details like this and foreshadowing u notice. It’s everywhere, placed right infront of our eyes, yet we dont realize it before rewatching it. This is one of the things that make this show the masterpiece it is. Also i can’t not mention the scene where all the people on the cliff were passing on the baby. That scene was actually inspired by Schindler’s list. I literally had fullbody chills throughout the entire segment. This was in my opinion the most beautiful episode of the show so far. Also the Music throughout the entire episode was incredible. They brought back so many bangers from the previous seasons which i loved. The scene in the cabin with Mikasa and Eren broke me. Her seeing the alternete timeline they could of had together if she just said her true feelings when they were talking at the top of the mountain in the last episode literally had me crying so hard. Eren telling her to forget about him but also wanting her not to find another man was childish yet fits Eren’s character so much. Deep down he is a child and had been botteling up these feelings since the start. Eren was the only character who in the end didn’t change at all. He was always like this, since the start. In the end Mikasa never forgot about Eren and got buried next to him with the same flowers she put there on his grave. AOT is one of the most tragic stories ever told, yet one of the most beautiful ones i have seen. Like Mikasa said earlier «this world is so cruel. It is also very beautiful.» Now since the show is finished we finally realize why the birds in so many scenes were so important. Falco in the first intro of season 4 reaching out to the birds, and Eren returning to Mikasa one last time as a white bird which symbolizes and represents "freedom" and "peace". Also big up to Armin’s VA this episode. Incredible performance. One other little scene some people tend to forget is the big plot twist that was revealed. Eren all along being the one that sent the smiling titan to kill his own mother to get the outcome he needed and the hatred which motivated him to kill the titans. It was supposed to be Bertholdt but, Eren already knew how everything would turn out in the paths if he didn’t change it to how he had seen it. «One of the powers of the founding titan is that my head is an entire mess, there is no future or past or present». Eren said that he tried to change everything he could but in the end killing 80% of humanity was the only choice he was left with to make the Eldians seem like heroes. He also blamed himself for the death of Sasha and Hange and the others along the way. The future was already set in stone. Eren had no control over it, and all along he was a slave to freedom. In the end he became what he hated the most. I just want to thank all of you reading this for this incredible journey and for the fantastic community aot has had. It has been one hell of a ride with yall. Attack on titan will go down in history as the greatest show of all time and a modern masterpiece, and nothing will change that. This show will for ever be my number one. Thank you Isayama for everything and thank you for changing my life ❤. "To the boy who sought freedom, goodbye."
The credit epilogue was Isayama giving a pretty definitive answer on whether Eren was a sympathetic villain or a misunderstood hero in an otherwise very nuanced and balanced story. But no matter what you think of Eren, he didn't break the cycle. He didn't save the world. The end didn't justify the means. He killed 80% of the world so his few friends could live long happy lives, and so the 2000 year old ghost of a girl could be free, and that was that.
I agree, but I think that more than that, the message is clear, the problem is us and our leaders, and our weapons, Eldia + titans, Marley + titans, Eren + titans, and in the future, that society + the nukes and weapons, and perhaps it was no longer Paradis, since thousands of years passed, no empire was eternal. In theory the problem was the titans, they were no longer there so we see that the problem is conflict, intolerance and etc...
10 years of a masterpiece and not a single second wasted. You two guessed right at the end, the cycle of titans repeats. Glad you two got to experience this masterpiece.
I don't think it continues. The circumstances for Ymir was far different than the kid who finds the tree this go around. The suffering she was experiencing manifested the Titans, being chased by dogs, wounded and fearing for her life. The kid has a sog companion, and chooses to explore and discovers the tree. So while the kid will make contact with the glowy-thing (forgive me forgetting the name), it most likely won't manifest into titan powers, but something else, as a reflection of the kid's emotional state of being.
Zeke literally explains that the Power of the Titans was based on what Ymir wished for: a bigger, stronger, invincible body and a realm without death. So no, if the boy makes contact with the worm something completely different than titans will happen.
ur reaction to aot is how i discovered ur channel. its been an amazing experience watching w u guys. still cant believe we're at the end of the series.
The point of what Eren does was 2 main things. First and foremost he saved his friends. He turned them into heroes by making himself the villain. The second part is he literally leveled everything. There was no longer a super power oppressing the world. Everyone was back to square one. This meant that Mikasa, Armin and the rest of the scouts could live their lives in peace before war broke out again.
I personally got a more hopeful tone from the very last scene with the boy. It was a direct contrast to the scene where ymir first finds the tree. Ymir finds it when she is scared and running for life, gravely injured and being chased by hunting dogs. She is not familiar of the forest. However, the boy is clearly an explorer and this is probably of his own choice. He is being driven by curiosity and his own will to explore, with a pet dog by his side as a companion. While him entering the tree might be the start of a new cycle, the situation is notably different. It is not necessary that what comes out of it will be titans, since as Zeke said it was Ymir's desire for a bigger, stronger, immortal body (to escape death and the accompanying fear)that created the titans in the first place. In the end, even though Paradis ended up getting destroyed way into the future, the efforts of people like Armin helped make a small but significant change, shown by how history doesn't repeat itself for this one moment of the rediscovery of the tree. Also, I think it's important to frame that Eren's actions, atleast directly, really did result in nothing good. It would come off weird to me if there was some reason to justify/lighten what he did in the end. His actions at the most only enabled a buffer period for conflict, and he enabled Mikasa to free Ymir from her trauma and hence remove the power of the titans. It was Armin and co's efforts that created a peace that lasted for atleast hundreds of years. Compared to all the damage that Eren caused to all life and the planet, the positives are miniscule.
In an anime full of harrowing scenes, the cliff baby has to be the most harrowing of all. An image that stuck with me since I first saw it in the manga. Been a great ride, you two! Glad to have been able to have some of my favourite reactors go through what I did when I saw all this for the first time, hah
I absolutely feel you, Kat. I went through it. I almost didn't bring myself to watch it because I knew the ending would be crushing. The only things we can look forward to are the positive connections we make with others and the contributions of beauty we can give in our life time. As violent beings we will always be destined to bring destruction. We can only do what we can to make sure we don't contribute to that destruction in our personal lives.
To the boy who sought freedom, Goodbye. RIP Eren. In the end, you did exterminate every last titan from this world. This was an awesome adaptation. Thank you Isayama, Well done, MAPPA. This was truly the end of an era.
Well in the ending where we saw paradise got destroyed it happens after like maybe 100 or 1000 years after the events of Aot and it shows conflict will still remain . Eren was just a selfish person who wanted to protect his people and give paradise time and a fair chance to develop an army and plus he himself said he just wanted to flatten the world.
Actually, not even that. Ultimately Eren at his core only cared about his inner circle of friends. He didn't give a shit about the rest of the world or even the other Eldians or Paradisians. Eren succeeded in the sense that his loved ones specifically, the only ones he cared about, got to live out the rest of their lives, even though the world in general went on as usual (civilizations flourished and then got destroyed).
"What's the point of this ?" I believe this is the same as saying, "Why even do anything when you are gonna die someday ?" You don't live for the future. You live for the present while working for the future. Its the absolutely miniscule things that matter the most in life. I am going through the roughest phase of my life. But it is watching Attack on Titan, an animated show made by people I don't know and prolly never will, that gave me the most joy through all these years. The war at the end happened probably centuries in the future. Eren's friends did live in peace for the rest of their lifetime, and probably so did their children and grandchildren. Like we did have a World War II after 1st (and their are not so good things happening in the world right now) and you never know when a 3rd might start, but u don't live fearing about that. Also, criticizing the animation is confusing to me? I know u aren't saying it was bad, however this is probably the best animated part of Attack on Titan and its not even close. There were maybe a couple of off-model shots of Eren, but like...that's all. Most character looked the best they've ever had (especially Levi, Mikasa and Pieck), titans looked the best they've ever had, action is the best it has ever been (whether ODM or titan v titan), the best ODM cut in the entire series, most haunting shots of the series in the rumbling, most beautiful shots (wallpaper worthy). As for production, this is probably the only part that got the maximum amount of time and resources that AOT has ever had. Anyways, it has been a great journey with y'all. Hoping for a final video, for ur thoughts on the series now that it has ended, your fav characters, moments, etc.
It’s been amazing to watch along with you two and the commenters on the Attack On Titan journey. Thank you for your reactions and insights over the years.
That’s the point of this whole story you cannot stop the cycle of violence. But what he did wasn’t for nothing. He still secured peace for his loved ones and generations for hundreds of years before the fighting started again
Back in season 1 in the battle of Trost, when Eren was about to get eaten by the bearded titan he said «As if i could die in a place like this…» Kinda ironic isn’t it, that in the end he did die in the mouth of a titan.
@@ActualCoconutI don’t know would you be needing the answer right now but he is in mouth because he has war hammer Titan and can place himself anywhere he prefers. This has been mentioned many times by the squad too when they were trying to figure out where he possibly could be
About mikasa part, indeed Ackerman was immune to become titan and memory manipulation, but why Mikasa? Ymir & Eren was trying to get to Mikasa head and alter her memory, that's why she had an headache as a form of resistance to this. here's my analysis as a comparison based on clue on this journey. In season 1 episode 2, Hannes was throwing Eren, after that, Mikasa get a headache because she wanted to punch Hannes for what he did to Eren. But in Season 4 episode 14, even though Eren said harsh things to Mikasa, she didn't get any headache because it was inline with what Eren told to Armin this episode in the path. also, in this episode I believe Mikasa had the most hurtful headache because of the attempt of the memory manipulation.
I think the end credits confuse people a lot. Eren did change a lot of things. He ended 2000 years of ear and suffering for at least a few hundred years. His friends lived long happy lives, there are no more titans and the people of the island are finally at an equal level to the rest of the world. The Island not only survived but thrived in technological advancements for hundreds of years. Naturally the wars started again due to human conflict, and eventually humans destroyed themselves. Thousands of years later in an post apocalyptic world a kid find the tree and everything starts again.
I think the series did kind of end on a positive note. A cave in a tree was entered into again, but this time by someone seemingly free of fear. Fear being something emphasized in this finale as a cause of war.
I respect the ending of this story. I think this is the best ending. History repeats itself. Eren thougt that eternal peace was impossible. But He wanted Mikasa, Armin, and his friends to live in peace, and this wish came true. In the interview of The New York Times, Hajime Isayama said,〝I guess there could have been an ending where it was a happy ending and the war ended and everything was fine and dandy. I guess that could have been possible. At the same time, the end of fighting and the end of contention itself kind of seems hokey. It kind of seems like it’s not even believable. It’s just not plausible in the world we’re living in right now. And so, sadly, I had to give up on that kind of happy ending.”
There are definitely alot of Biblical themes in this show including the tree of life, The chosen people (The Jews), Tree of the knowledge of good and evil, free will vs pre destination, nihilism, and love that spans generations. I think this show might have a frustrating ending depending on your worldview, but it definitely an important ending. at the very least, the last shot of the city burning and the tree shows the realistic nature of the sinful human heart. Loved your reaction and discussion guys. God bless.
As a Japanese person, I believe that this work effectively portrays the dynamics between Japan, the United States, and other foreign countries. Below is a passage from a blog that I strongly agree with. In Attack on Titan, the famous lines and lyrics succinctly depict Japan's situation after World War II, where it renounced military power and relies on the U.S. military to secure its right to survival. In the real world, the idea of the absolute inviolability of Article 9 of the Constitution is supported by the deterrence provided by America’s massive military power. Similarly, in the story, the defense against the Titans relies almost entirely on the walls. The structure is such that Paradis Island represents Japan, the walls represent the U.S. military, and the Titans symbolize external enemies. The belief in staying safe as long as one remains within the walls can be likened to the belief in Article 9 of the Constitution. The story begins with the collapse of the myth of peace along with the walls in the first episode of the original work, which serves as a sharp criticism of leftist ideologies that argue peace will continue as long as Article 9 is upheld. Furthermore, the "vow of non-aggression" that appears later in the story is a direct reference to Article 9, and Eren struggles with how to break free from this constraint.
Been here from the very beginning of your reactions and i am so glad to have seen your reaction to the final episode. The world of aot truly is bleak, which is another reason why i enjoy your reactions and discussions with regards to the story’s plot and the characters’ philosophies. Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts and i’m so happy to have seen you guys through your journey. Yall are one of my fav aot reactors out there. Your channel is such a diamond in the rough. 🫶🏼
Eren can see in the future until the point where he dies. Is not that he can see the future centuries ahead. He could have seen way beyond after he dies if the power of the titans (attack titan) would have still existed after his death. It wasnt pointless. All his friends got to live peaceful lives, thats what he cared the most.
Most of the reactors misunderstand but the bird at the end is possibly the reincarnation of Eren. It didn't try to get the scarf away but wrapped it around Mikasa!
The ending's message is: humans will be humans. Peace never lasts forever, someday in the future global wars will start again and then another period of peace, and so on.
What was the point, you ask? I believe Isamaya is deliberately telling us that there was no point. That the titans were not the problem all along. It was always the evil in humans in power.. Or maybe it is the power that corrupts people somehow. With this story coming from Japan, every nuclear explosion of the colossal titan reminds me that this is not really fiction or a pessimistic, tragic tale.. it's a very realistic reflection of the world we live in. That being said, the reason Eren did this is to grant his friends and people a relatively peaceful life (there is no absolute peace to seek for anyway), and more importantly, a normal life without titans, without children eating their parents only to live 13 years and perish. That was the cycle that Eren wanted to end. No one knows if it's about to start again, but that's not on Eren, he did end Ymir's curse.. He did his part. The rest was on humanity, and humanity failed, as expected.
I like to think of it as a mix of Erwin and Armin's previous quotes. Erwin's last speech, about sacrifice and striving towards progress as the only way they can rebel against this cruel world. And Armin, you must always hope and try to strive towards a day where you you can resolve everything with peace. Just because things are hopeless, doesn't mean you should give up. Maybe war is inevitable with humans, but what we can do is continue and try to avoid them, mitigate the damage, because that's the only way we can be free? Like, if it's inevitable that there will be war, better to have 1 war every 200 years than 5 wars in 1 year, right?
The message Isayama tried to convey was that life has no meaning or purpose or "direction" in the grand scheme of things. Creatures, nations, planets, stars, etc are born, survive or thrive for a while and eventually die, to be replaced by something else which repeats the cycle. For living creature, especially a human being, what gives meaning are connections, e.g. with other people, and the small ephemeral moments of joy. I still think Isayama could have done better, but after watching the finale, I'm not mad about the ending as I was when the final chapter came out. Many small details were added or changed to make this a more compelling conclusion for the story, e.g. the conversation between Armin and Eren which was significantly improved, Reiner's "what a man you are" is gone, Ymir appearing before Mikasa which confirms why the titan curse was gone once Ymir found peace (this one from the additional semi-chapter 139.5), etc.
Kat asked "What`s the point of this if everything is going to continue?" Well from what I understand Eren just wanted his friends to live a long happy life , which they did . He knew conflict will never stop, titan power or not , we humans love conflict . So by erasing 80% of humanity he managed to "help" his friends have that life . Is it wrong ? Hell yeah Also I've seen lots of people talk about how they will not unalive that many people . Y'all , when you have a power that fucks you up mentaly , you literally can't tell what's the past and the future, you can't distinguish things . Also you don't know how you will react when you have THAT MUCH power , also he literally was an adolecent when he saw everything . That fucks you up for good .
I’ve been with you guys through ATLA, LoK and AoT. Can’t believe AoT is over. It’s been days since seeing this finale and I’m still processing my emotions…
The meaning of this end for me :The world is cruel, but it's also beautiful. Even if everything goes bad and the cycle of violence keeps repeating, we must continue to find an exit from the forest for future generations.
Ackerman's are immune to the mindwipe. That has been established. Levi didn't seemingly receive any epiphanies. Eren did admire him in his youth after all. She remembered the cottage scene with Eren before his death. She wrapped the scarf and proclaimed she can't forget or throw it away. It's why she knew where to find him. (The mouth) I would expect that Eren visited that memory for her at that very moment. That's why Falco's shadow was there. The past OVA episode of Eren dying no matter what decisions are made, probably, is one of many cases where Eren prepares her for this last waking dream sequence so that it won't be way too out of place for her to drop down rather than act. I mean. At least I speculate so. Nice talks from yall. Thanks.
The main point of this entire story since the 1st episode is that titans aren't the issue. Humanity is the problem bc ppl r going to be ppl. Thats reality! Bravo AOT
When I saw it I knew I liked it but I was confused because I wasn't sure if I understood everything that happened and if it made sense or not. And after recaping I realized that everything fit together and that it was the perfect ending to this work of art
The points i recieved were.. They used simple word as Love, but i think it’s not mere love but Ambivalence. simple idea like love or hate itself, seems possible to handle, but if it’s ambivalent, way to difficult to. still we should not off our hands from the handle…we should get along with it to time by time. each of our thoughts to think and care about future descendants can be noble and precious but if it last too long, could have turn into the curses or arrogancies so easily too. so we better know what we can leave to this world is not only Legacy but also Entrustment for THE LIVING DO ON TIME.
Seeing Kat talk about how humans always end up fighting each other broke my heart. There's a lot of good people in the world but it only takes a few to cause great suffering to everyone else. Recent world events have been a prime example of that, I try to keep hope but sometimes I think its an unwinnable battle and we will never find peace in our time on this planet. Maybe a happy ending is reserved for fiction only.
I have been following your reactions since the day Kat walked out on Eren's "death." I'm still processing how I feel about the ending. Isayama did admit that he rushed the ending so I can see why some things didn't feel like they made sense. I am going to miss AoT. I don't know if I've ever watched a show with such great writing. It truly has been quite the ride and as always, your discussion is great. Here's to many more awesome reactions!
The whole point of the ending was to show that humanity will always be in conflict for one reason or another. It could be religion, diplomatic beliefs, social hierarchy, etc. The show does make vague references to this fact a few times. Pixis and Eren's conversation that if humanity was faced with a mutual enemy, the world would come together to fight for survival. Erwin mentioning that humanity will never stop fighting each other until there is only one person or none left. The Marley security dude talking to Grisha on the wall talking about how peace gets boring and that humanity likes conflict to keep life interesting. The ending is definitely bittersweet.
Even before watching this episode I was thought the cycle of hatred would continue. Even if Eren successed in killing all of humanity outside the walls, Paradis would still be the starting point of a newer era of conflicts. We live in world without titans and we still are fighting endless wars, so AOT shows us that humanity will keep repeating history over and over again.
lmaoo This is dark af, but I can't stop laughing. When I saw the "Danish word of the day" segment in the progress bar, I was like.. "Hmm. I wonder what its gonna be based on the finale... probably genocide... lol" And then Kat made the same joke I lost it.
Thank you Hajime sensei. Thank you Wit studio and MAPPA. Thank you Hiroyuki and Kohta Thank you to the directors, animators and seiyus involved in this amazing story. Thank you SNK for being such a masterpiece. Thank you for everything I will always remember you. 🥹🥹🥹
I think Eren couldn't wipe Mikasas memory. He just visited her right at that time in the battle. After that she knew he was in the mouth of the titan, which implies that he told her and didn't make her forget.
1x9 Eren recalled his father saying to him "If you want to save Mikasa Armin and everyone else...", 3x21 Owl also said the same thing to Eren's father. These words are all because of Eren's memory. This proves that Eren's primary goal was not to save all of humanity, but to save his friends. Eren has witnessed that mankind will never stop fighting in countless life cycles. He is very disappointed with all mankind. In order to protect his friends, he is willing to become a butcher of massacre.
By the way, Mikasa did not have her memory erased, Eren "saw" her right before she killed him (hence why she knew that he was in the mouth of the titan). For everyone else, their meeting with Eren happened before or during the Rumbling.
I usually hate disease = war analogies, but I've been watching and reading AoT for 10 years and it's never hit as hard as it does now that I have cancer. I had it, went through treatment and then got diagnosed again a few months later. I feel like I'm stuck in my own little cycle of suffering, but I don't want to give up because all the small things make living worthwhile. I found Armin's speech about racing up the hill really impactful. Those are the feelings and memories I think about when I'm stuck in hospital or in bed, because they remind me of why I'm enduring the pain. I've really enjoyed watching your reactions to this series. All the best to you both and your son, I hope he's well ❤
I admire you, I respect you, I'm proud of you. I think you are the true hero, I think humans like you are what makes the world's energy a better place. I can't even begin to believe your pain and suffering, but I hope, I truly hope from the bottom of my heart that you are feeling better, that you rise high up in the sky with freedom. My wish for you as it is for me is that we keep moving forward.
We seriously can't believe the series is over. What did you all think of the finale? Let us know in the comments!

Ymir got the power of the titan coz she wanted to get power, she was being hunted by people and hunting dogs. Meanwhile the boy in the future is exploring the abandoned island with his 'friendly' dog, there is no way he want the big power like titan (assumed the worm still exist)
The point is to Protect The Queen Historia and Devil island.

@DBT1007 The worm is the source of life Ymir just created rules for it
The path Like a birdcage, past and future Elder humans will never be free Even death
I like the way it ended
@@DBT1007you got quite a lot of things wrong. let me help you:
eren doesnt want to kill himself.
eren doesnt want to "bait out the worm".
eren dosnt "mix" with the worm.
ymir doesnt smile because she sees mikasa loving a "hard boy" too.
ymir isnt freed because the worm is gone.
ymir smiles because she witnesses mikasa letting go of the one she loved the most. that is what ymir never could. that is why she was stuck in the paths. that is why the titan powers existed.
mikasa showed ymir that you CAN let go. and that is what she does. now she is no longer stuck in the paths. which means the worm has no connection to the real world anymore. and without ymir in the paths building titans, the titan powers are gone.
It's so horrifying but at the aame time it represents that tiny bit of hope and goodness in humanity in the darkest moments.
indeed. unfortunately, it is happening right now. much much worse.
@@3botics135Free Palestine 🇵🇸
Im sure it referrs to Shindlers List scene w. the child in red dress.
Eren is not able to see the future past his death because the power of the titans doesn’t exist anymore. His goal was to make sure the people closest to him lived long lives and to remove conflict in their lifetime.
But if someone else takes on the magical sea worm, wouldn't that connect again?

I knew kat would be absolutely going through it the entire episode. She’s so passionate about her shows.
I fell şad for Annie Rinier and gabi 😢 they had Hard life but they did Good for save People
Good catch Kat on Mikasa not being able to have her memories wiped, which means her conversation with Eren (the time spent in the log cabin) happened right in the moments before she killed Eren (also why you see Eren's face with titan marks in her paths dimension talk). She was also experiencing a headache at the time which means Ymir was watching them.
I fell şad for Annie and armin loook cute but l hope they get happy in end❤ amzing
I've been wondering about that, and now it makes sense. Except it must have been on Falco, since she says "I can't" in response to Eren.

If Eren ever thought of world peace, it was through Armin.
@@user-qx1id1dt8x world peace is unattainable
I just wanna give a big hug to Mikasa, my sweetest girl. ending a 2000 years curse, freeing ymir and save the world, even if she had to k*ll her most beloved. What a finale.
Some facts here:
- the bird is actually wrapping the scarf around mikasa.
- in the credits scene, is shown Mikasa died, and then you have a small glimpse of an old Armin visiting their graves, she was buried next to Eren.
So they spent 4 years path time in the cabin?
@@Etphoneholmes yeah 4 years there, the life span eren had left
@@Etphoneholmesyep when mikasa killed him was exact time he died cuz of the curse in the Path as an illusion. I have rewatched so many times to actually recognize this 😂. What a masterpiece
Other things to note as well:
- If you count the seasons in the 1st time-lapse, you'll find that it's 7 years plus the 3 years after they killed Eren then you see Mikasa with Jean (it's way clearer in the manga) so she grieved 10 years for him and Jean waited 10 years for her which means they got married at age 29-30. Since they were 19 during season 4.
- the one singing along linked horizon at the ending is Mikasa.
@@barry_esmail and eren joins mikasa in her singing as well
Don't think the ending with boy and the tree implied a repition of the cycle.
I think the point is what Sasha’s father said, that we all need to always try to get out of the forest, no matter how difficult it was.
During the post credit the song lyrics literally says "Get out of the forest" too

@@ST4MPLM4DBfunny enough, Erwin also said humans won't stop killing themselves unless the number is reduced to 1 or less
Yeah my only issue with the finale is I was hoping Zeke would get a better badass ending, but then again I'm happy Levi got to the end of his mission
@ishaan863 zeke's ending made sense tbh, as he understood the meaning of life and paid for the sins ( when he took those lives from others )
Your reaction is one of the best, crisp clear image without over editing, so glad I found this channel
Much appreciated 🙏🏻
It is also very beautiful.»
Now since the show is finished we finally realize why the birds in so many scenes were so important.
Reiner was literally the armor of humanity
The credit epilogue was Isayama giving a pretty definitive answer on whether Eren was a sympathetic villain or a misunderstood hero in an otherwise very nuanced and balanced story. But no matter what you think of Eren, he didn't break the cycle. He didn't save the world. The end didn't justify the means. He killed 80% of the world so his few friends could live long happy lives, and so the 2000 year old ghost of a girl could be free, and that was that.
THANK YOU
Finally someone gets it
Are people unironically calling Eren a hero? 😂
Eren is a flawed person, he's not a monster but has the mindset of someone who can't coexist with humanity
In theory the problem was the titans, they were no longer there so we see that the problem is conflict, intolerance and etc...
i mean removing titan powers in the world is pretty freakin huge tbh
Sonny did edit this with his heart and soul. Dude really gave us a show from a show. Holy fluff!
The "source of life" has divine-like powers over life, not 'titan powers'.
ur reaction to aot is how i discovered ur channel. its been an amazing experience watching w u guys. still cant believe we're at the end of the series.
this is so well edited , thank u guys , it was fun watching with yall!
I fell şad for Rinier and gabi and armin here seeing his mother and gebi too his pain hit me Hard😢
This is the one I’ve been waiting for! Glad to join you guys in the ride!
I agree with you l hope his boy ok
Thank you Isayama,
Well done, MAPPA.
This was truly the end of an era.
It's been one hell of a ride, thank you for sharing your reactions with us!
Finally caught up on all the episodes. It's odd that this show can still cause me to tear up. Great reaction from both of you
Well in the ending where we saw paradise got destroyed it happens after like maybe 100 or 1000 years after the events of Aot and it shows conflict will still remain . Eren was just a selfish person who wanted to protect his people and give paradise time and a fair chance to develop an army and plus he himself said he just wanted to flatten the world.
The ending song is "For you 2000 or even 20000 years in the future"
Actually, not even that. Ultimately Eren at his core only cared about his inner circle of friends. He didn't give a shit about the rest of the world or even the other Eldians or Paradisians. Eren succeeded in the sense that his loved ones specifically, the only ones he cared about, got to live out the rest of their lives, even though the world in general went on as usual (civilizations flourished and then got destroyed).
"What's the point of this ?"
I believe this is the same as saying, "Why even do anything when you are gonna die someday ?"
You don't live for the future.
I really enjoyed your post discussion cuz you two are well understanding the theme and points of this series. Hope your child get recoverd soon.
That question applies in our society as well. What's the point indeed.
That’s the point of this whole story you cannot stop the cycle of violence. But what he did wasn’t for nothing. He still secured peace for his loved ones and generations for hundreds of years before the fighting started again
Fun fact: The baby's cry is recorded from Eren's VA Yuki Kaji's baby.
Back in season 1 in the battle of Trost, when Eren was about to get eaten by the bearded titan he said «As if i could die in a place like this…» Kinda ironic isn’t it, that in the end he did die in the mouth of a titan.
which itself makes no sense. Why is he in the mouth and not the nape
@@ActualCoconutI don’t know would you be needing the answer right now but he is in mouth because he has war hammer Titan and can place himself anywhere he prefers. This has been mentioned many times by the squad too when they were trying to figure out where he possibly could be
Not the end nearly anyone expected (or wanted to a degree).
But an ending that has bought so many people together.
AoT
My opinion is the ending was perfect
any other ending would've ruined the show
The point is to cherish the precious moments in between the suffering.
Thank you for the long journey of attack on titan with us.
God bless.
Exactly! And thank you ❤️
As a Japanese person, I believe that this work effectively portrays the dynamics between Japan, the United States, and other foreign countries.
I came immediately to say it one last time: SHINZOU WO SASAGEYO! 🫡🕊️❤
Eren can see in the future until the point where he dies. Is not that he can see the future centuries ahead. He could have seen way beyond after he dies if the power of the titans (attack titan) would have still existed after his death. It wasnt pointless. All his friends got to live peaceful lives, thats what he cared the most.
Hola chicos muchas gracias por su reacción
Most of the reactors misunderstand but the bird at the end is possibly the reincarnation of Eren. It didn't try to get the scarf away but wrapped it around Mikasa!
I fell şad for kids and baby sesnes 😭 save him that show us they are hope in the futher
Arigathanks Hajime Isayama for this.❤ and Thank You Kat and Sonny for reacting to this masterpiece.
I've already seen it twice, but I still cried with you here
The ending's message is: humans will be humans. Peace never lasts forever, someday in the future global wars will start again and then another period of peace, and so on.
The ending was perfect in my opinion.
I kinda expected the danish word to be despair! Thank you for your reactions you two. I agree, the baby scene was unfair. All the best!
War, war never changes.
We were all the baby crying all the time, this show is so damn good
What was the point, you ask?
Google searches of the animal Okapi went through the roof after this episode.
Kat asked "What`s the point of this if everything is going to continue?"
Well from what I understand Eren just wanted his friends to live a long happy life , which they did . He knew conflict will never stop, titan power or not , we humans love conflict .
So by erasing 80% of humanity he managed to "help" his friends have that life .
Is it wrong ? Hell yeah
Also I've seen lots of people talk about how they will not unalive that many people . Y'all , when you have a power that fucks you up mentaly , you literally can't tell what's the past and the future, you can't distinguish things . Also you don't know how you will react when you have THAT MUCH power , also he literally was an adolecent when he saw everything . That fucks you up for good .
Big hugs for Mikasa forever 💔
Sakura one shot Mikasa
@@chun-chunmaru not
Sakura doesn't have SHIT on Mikasa, at least Mikasa doesn't have be saved like a thousand times like Trashura.
2人のリアクションがとても好きです!進撃の巨人をリアクションしてくれてありがとう!
Best reaction I've seen so far
Ackerman's are immune to the mindwipe.
That has been established.
Levi didn't seemingly receive any epiphanies. Eren did admire him in his youth after all.
She remembered the cottage scene with Eren before his death.
She wrapped the scarf and proclaimed she can't forget or throw it away.
It's why she knew where to find him. (The mouth)
I would expect that Eren visited that memory for her at that very moment.
Bravo AOT
Lovely reaction. Leaving a comment to help you with the algorithm
It was a pleasure to see You guys again!
As both Pixis and Erwin said: Humans will fight one another until ther is only one last person standing
Join the slaughter for the sake of the country vs stop the slaughter and become a traitor
What do you choose?
to the boy who sought freedom, goodbye
When I saw it I knew I liked it but I was confused because I wasn't sure if I understood everything that happened and if it made sense or not. And after recaping I realized that everything fit together and that it was the perfect ending to this work of art
I swear Isayama was like "Levi is still too strong. I need to nerf him further" 🤣Like as if losing 3 fingers and an eye wasn't enough
The points i recieved were..
They used simple word as Love,
but i think it’s not mere love but Ambivalence.
simple idea like love or hate itself, seems possible to handle, but if it’s ambivalent, way to difficult to. still we should not off our hands from the handle…we should get along with it to time by time.
each of our thoughts to think and care about future descendants can be noble and precious but if it last too long, could have turn into the curses or arrogancies so easily too.
so we better know what we can leave to this world is not only Legacy but also Entrustment for THE LIVING DO ON TIME.
It's been a journey with you guys.
"Conflict never end because humanity still exist"
Seeing Kat talk about how humans always end up fighting each other broke my heart. There's a lot of good people in the world but it only takes a few to cause great suffering to everyone else. Recent world events have been a prime example of that, I try to keep hope but sometimes I think its an unwinnable battle and we will never find peace in our time on this planet. Maybe a happy ending is reserved for fiction only.
Well not even for fiction, especially if that piece of fiction was written by Hajime Isayama lol.
Indeed 💔
In the end the problem was not the Eldian or the titans, It was humanity, always a conflict not matter what era
Hmm it made sense to me especially if you watch it back to back multiple times like me 😅
He also said he didn't regret it so I feel like we need to have an open mind and heart to understand all the aspects that the ending represent.
I love you reactions, my favorite channel ❤
Awww, thank you so much! That really means a lot 💜
Thank you Hiroyuki and Kohta
Thank you to the directors, animators and seiyus involved in this amazing story.
Thank you SNK for being such a masterpiece. Thank you for everything
I will always remember you.

I think Eren couldn't wipe Mikasas memory. He just visited her right at that time in the battle. After that she knew he was in the mouth of the titan, which implies that he told her and didn't make her forget.
Eren no podía borrar la memoria de Mikasa porque es una Ackerman
あの赤ちゃんを人伝いに 渡していた赤ちゃんは、声優エレンの 本当の赤ちゃんの声です
I knew the baby scene would get you. Gets me everytime too
56:30 thats because he ultimately wanted this to happen, he wanted to level everything, people dont get that eren actually wanted to do the rumbling
Enjoyed the reactions!!
All the best to you both and your son, I hope he's well ❤
All the best to you too ❤️ thank you for sharing your story. Tatakae ❤️
Eren got rid of the titan curse and made sure his friends lived long lives..
