And, it lost out when Harry and Meghan stepped back as senior working royals and left the country for a different life. They are refusing to honor him because the MOD don't believe his suicide was connected to his service. Even though when he died he was still serving as a Warrant Officer, and developed PTSD while he was deployed. He served with Harry in 2008, and then was sent back to the region in 2009, even though he was showing signs of PTSD. He didn't leave a note, so the coroner said that he couldn't determine whether or not Mr. Hunt intended to kill himself. Personally, I feel the Army doesn't want to admit they screwed up and their mistakes lead to Mr. Hunt committing suicide. Both his wife and former commander said he wasnt qualified to clear IEDs, and his former commander even admitted to employing Mr. Hunt illegally and called for there to be an investigation into the Household Cavalry Regiment over command pressure. All the family wants is for Mr. Hunt to be remembered and his daughter (Megan, she was 9 years old), to be able to go to the memorial and see her father's name listed with all the other heros who were KIA or from illness they got defending their nation. They want her to know her father was a hero. The MOD have now said no twice, and they should be ashamed of themselves. Just because you can't visibly see mental wounds or disease doesn't mean it doesn't exist. PTSD is a life threatening injury that can take a lifetime to heal, that can randomly reopen and it should be treated as such. Mr. Hunt protected and saved hundreds of lives. He is a hero, and if the MOD won't honor and remember him, others will. Warrant Officer Nathan Hunt acted heroically during each deployment by consistently putting everybody's safety above his own, and while he was not able to survive those injuries, others will be able to because of him and the hard work his family has been putting into helping those with similar wounds.
