C'est dingue !!! Des années à regarder des vidéos de surf mais c'est la première fois que je ressens ça. Surtout avec le sauvetage du surfeur avec sa planche. Mundaka, bakarra. Siempre será mundaka, the only one, la seul et unique Mundaka.
fantastic footage of a fantastic wave... I sufed there once in the early 80s..I took one big drop on the biggest wave of my life..fell off and got pounded like never before...I loved it....mundaca is special....
I lived in Hossegor for a few years in the early 90s. Back then all the lifegaurds at Mundaka where volunteers. There was a young Australian kid. Bruce or something. He saved over a dozen lives one summer. Without those guys it would have been a different place. Whenever the surf was big and I saw him out there it would put me at ease.
The reference in 80' s in Mundaka were Craig Sage & Bruce Smith, both Autralian. They helped to expand the surf in the area. Craig with his surf shop and Bruce with his boards.
@@mambodambo8969 nice historical back filling by both of you. Might I add, I arrived there in a Kombi rammed with Kiwis July 1981. It was flat and we were heading west... Sorry, not much colour to add. Stoked that the hills overlooking are not layered with ugly apartments though.
@@mozdickson In the 81 I was 12 years old. I started surfing around 14 in Mundaka area. All the foreigners were like heroes for us. We used to buy their boards before they came back home. I still have the board that Bruce used when he arrived at Mundaka. It is very different now. Too many people in the water. It is impossible to park the sunny days. Much more people everywhere.
@@mambodambo8969Novs '80,' 81 & '82 for me. Stayed with Andy, who ran The Pub, in '81-82. Such a nice guy. Wish I could find him. Have forgotten his surname. Great surf and memories each trip.
@@Plateaudweller One in the jet ski at the beginning of the video is Andy. He is Australian. He is a very good big waves rider. I don´t know if it is the same Andy as you mentionated. I don´t know his surname,
@@mozdickson It is not only a shame, it is the due of helping a colleague. It is not the firts time that a board has been lost in Mundaka. I remember once, to have seen half of a broken board 4 km inside the Mundaka river. The owner was lucky that I knew that the half board was from him.
Awesome surfing and video. Congratulations! Great music too. Please, can you tell me what measurements and surfboards they use for those conditions? I see there some Christenson... Cheers!
Thanks! I find that the music is the most difficult part when I edit the video. It is difficult to find instrumental music that could go with the images. Over all when you do several videos. This is a new youtube chanel only for surf & skate but I have another one " Carlos Dambo " where I have more videos and at the end became a mix of everything. About boards and mesurements it depends on the weight and likes of the surfer. Some of them they use Guns of 7.2 till 8´. About brands, here are local brands as Styling and Pukas. I love surfing but unfornately I don´t practice it since years ago for personal matters.
When this place turns on it is a place of magic. This most definitely was not it. Below average conditions for what this place gets. It's fickle, sure. But Dang does it get good. I have seeked out and watched I'd say probably 95 plus percent of all the Mundaka footage on RUclips over the last 10 years. So while I've never been there I feel like I have and I feel I know it pretty well. It's my dream to surf there one day. I list my top five places that I dream to surf before I die. #1) The Super Banks #2) La Grav "Hossegor" #3) Mundaka #4) Cloud break #5) The Mentawais

Indeed. And no shame needing a rescue. That water is freezing there.
