Columnist and author Rod Liddle calls it 'The Great Betrayal' in his new book, while Tom Baldwin from the people's vote says both leavers and remainers have been betrayed in the years since the vote.
Liddle blames the establishment, but Baldwin argues Liddle "is the establishment".
Cambridgeshire Police said no offences had been revealed in its inquiry into bribery and postal votes of the 2019 Peterborough by-election.

Go Rod! He is absolutely right in what he's saying. The BBC bias is arrogant in the extreme, they turn the interview into a personal attack on Rod Liddle to deflect from the fact that the British people agree with him.

See Maitlis's recent interview with the Labour woman Jess Phillips. What a contrast! - first name terms, then respectfully waiting until Ms Phillips had finished all her answers, etc etc. Then sharing blaming the government (Moslems/LGBT) without any questioning of Phillip's identity politics position. The bias is so blatant especially when you compare Maitlis's interviewing technique on left/right wingers and remainers/brexiteers.

Brexit has forced the quality of available commentators to rock bottom. Perhaps the BBC isn't trying hard enough to get Brexit-supporting interviewees who aren't racists and/or the worst of the gutter press elite. Currently the only people they have who support the Brexit line are idiots, racists, and elitist tax-evaders. I'm sure there are people out there who support Brexit and do not fall into the above category, but currently they receive zero air time. And maybe that's the point - are they boring to listen to?

I went back & re-watched the entire David Dimbleby chaired BBC 1 EU ref Election Night Special Results Programme of June 23rd 2016.
I wanted to see how the Establishment reacted in real time, to the apparent shock result.
I also wanted to know if the result was accepted on the night.
Emily Maitlis began talking about another referendum at 10 minutes past 5 in the morning, as she interviewed a panel guest. "..but are we going to need a second referendum..?"
DD had declared it for Leave shortly prior.

Emily Maitlis demonstrating, yet again, her basic incompetence as an interviewer. She cannot seem to be able to separate her own opinions and emotions from the need to be cool-headed and objective. She was dire in her role of adjudicating the Tory leadership debate; she was objectionable in her interview with an Hungarian politician recently and she tried to trap Geert Wilders, the Dutch politician, in his knowledge of the Bible, thinking he wouldn't know its content from that of the Qur'an. But Wilders discerned, easily, what she was up to. If the BBC wasn't so institutionally wedded to PC ideology and to promoting females regardless of their fitness for the job, Emily would be long gone.

He is correct in his assumption that working class voters were classed as thick and racist , during and after the Brexit vote. The stupidity of it is that Brexit broke fairly evenly between the various classes. He uses humour ,on many occasions , to describe situations. Sometimes coarse, sometimes sarcastic, sometimes near the knuckle but always with honesty. He disdains political correctness or that sort of correctness which straightjackets off colour humour nearly all people use amongst friends. David Cameron, the Prime Minister at the time, set out what would happen if we voted to leave: Article 50 would be triggered, which would give us two years to do a deal with the EU. If that didn't happen, then we would trade on WTO terms until a deal was done. He said all of this on the highest rated politics show in the UK, the Andrew Marr show.
This is also what the text of Article 50 says, which the majority of MPs voted for. 'The Treaties shall cease to apply to the State in question from the date of entry into force of the withdrawal agreement or, failing that, two years after the notification.' In other words, all of the MPs who voted to trigger Article 50 - which is the majority of them - voted for No Deal at the end of two years.
So anyone who says we didn't know what we were voting doesn't know what they're talking about or is a liar.

@@danieljohnson7457 This of course assumes that voters shared that knowledge. They didn't. In any case it misses the point that the brexit discussion was not limited to the formal proposal not is the enactment of brexit, whatever that might mean, restricted by it. One of the formal aspects of brexit most often ignored is the advisory status of the referendum. Most voters were not aware of that not least because of promises the PM was not actually justified in making. Just this week Farage claimed in a brexit party broadcast 'this is not the brexit you voted for'. He assumes therefore that there are multiple brexits on offer, this particular offer is not the one people voted for and that this differentiation is possible because people knew they were voting for something different. If this doesn't involve the knowledge claim then it is difficult to see how Farage can secure any warranty for his claim that this is not the brexit people voted for. If you think there is an alternative route he might take, what is it?

@@stuartparker8926 You're missing the point. The legal process for leaving the EU is: we trigger article 50, then we have two years to agree a withdrawal agreement or we exit by default. Daniel Johnson You adopt the pose so beloved of leavers: claiming to speak on behalf of all of them while making sweeping and false generalisations about remainers which amount to nothing but pointless insult. Your response actually contains the elements which justify my original point since you acknowledge an either/or which voters were not in a position to resolve. In the Brexit party broadcast Farage also assumed the knowledge requirement by telling voters "this is not the Brexit you voted for" thereby claiming that voters know they voted for something else. Only problem with that is that he is in no position to make that assertion though it doesn't prevent him from feeling he can speak for all leavers. I am not saying that leave voters were ill informed or stupid. I am saying that they couldn't know what they were voting for because nothing was available for them to know and won't be until a Brexit is distilled from the range if possible Brexits. But, something you may have missed, this will take place no earlier that 2019. The voters needed that knowledge in 2016. In 2016 it wasn't available.
