Today, Trevor is going over some of the meat thermometers we carry here at Embers. all of these thermometers work really well thats why we sell them and something that makes them stand apart from other thermometers is that they have smart capabilities! Everything seems to be connected to our phones nowadays! Why not your BBQ?!
Let us know what you think of out Meat thermometer video. What do you use? do you even use one or is there no need for that? As always. thanks for watching and be sure to like, comment, and subscribe. More videos coming soon!

Fantastic just recieved my meater + 10min ago in the mail . Perfect timing .. Great videos and reviews you guys produce, they are a big help. Regards
Thanks for watching!
You forgot to mention you can use it on the rotisserie no cables to get tangled👍
so true
I bought my meater block based on one of your earlier videos. I've been so impressed I have purchased them as presents for my brother and farther in law and farther and brother as well
Glad you like them!
Do you have a video on the meater block?
Thanks! I've watched a couple videos on the Weber Connect, and no one explained that thermometer was for the ambient temp (I assumed it was). That's what I'm looking for in my cheap Weber Kettle when smoking ribs and such. Sure, I can check the temp every 15 minutes, but this hub means I won't have to. I've had the Meater for a while, and it makes for perfect whole chickens every time.
Thats awesome! Thanks for watching.
I have been using a thermoworks chef alarm or thermoworks Dot indoors forever. I’m pretty sure everyone does that when they cook a large roast such as a prime rib
nice!
Also wireless probe is great for rotisserie cooks
yup
(is has nothing to do with this video but..) Is there a big difference in performance between the grates in the prestige, phantom and prestige pro? I don't really care about extra lights, but are the grates worth the extra money? ty :)
They both come with cast stainless. ruclips.net/video/FFTInRFDYtc/видео.html
Ive been using the igrill before Weber bought it. It works great and have 4 probes and ambient temp probe. Dont see a need to upgrade to connect. The Meater is cool but i seen a lot of reviews that the end gets dirty and it stops charging, and in some instances the ambient temp piece just calls off.
interesting. thanks for the comment!
Is there a certain probe you need to monitor ambient temp ?
I had poor luck with the igrill, plus my temp probes were not accurate after a few cooks
and the meater is perfect for use with a rotisserie
oh yeah
Man, I really want the Webber connect, but I don’t see it has a Apple Watch app on the App Store. Having that on my old igrill was a game changer. Being able to look at my watch and see 4 probes was way better than opening an app on my phone.
Do you know of a meat thermometer that is WiFi, Apple Watch App, and tells you when to flip the steak 🥩?
I love your videos. They have helped me so much.
Just used my MEATER for some chicken breast. Couple things. The stand alone is not Wi-Fi just the block. The original one had horrible range so the MEATER plus was released which has pretty good Bluetooth range. Did a duck on the rotisserie and it was great. Then thing to be careful is the max temp that it can safely be used is 500f. You get close to that and it will alert you. My last issue is the probe is fairly thick for the part being inserted. The temp probes for the wired ones are thinner so less of a hole in the meat but it is a very small detail.
I had cooked a tenderloin steak for my wife and seared it with the probe out. As soon as the sear was done inserted to finish the cook in the grill and it worked great.
So does the Meater+ work on WiFi as stated in the video? I had one of the original Meater and Meater + and Neither worked on WiFi. The link I clicked for Amazon says Bluetooth up to 165 feet but nothing about WiFi. My experience with the Meater + was no where near 165 feet using it in a Yoder 640. More like 10 feet which is why I gave them away.
I may of misspoke I think, I think its the block
@@embersliving I want the block now though anyway. 4 separate probes so if you are cooking multiple items like chicken or steak you can get each one off the grill at the right time. Also I think the block is USB powered as well.
@@yambor44 It doesn’t have Wi-Fi built-in, but there are videos showing a workaround, where you can Bluetooth the Meater to a dedicated smartphone or tablet, connect that phone to Wi-Fi, and leave it near the grill. Then that device will send the thermometer data to the cloud and you can read the temp from your primary smartphone wherever you are.
Hole size is important. Surprised none of these so-called pro’s seem to mention that as a consideration when choosing a thermometer.
I use a Thermopro Tp 20, great for the money. If you are going to also do a video on instant read thermos I use a Javelin Pro Duo, not as fast as the Thermapen but pretty close and half the price
Thanks for the tip!
Just chose the Weber Connect over Meater. The Meater looks like it's a sealed electronic device, so when that battery or supercap inside the Meater probe is exposed to hot cooking temperatures all the time eventually goes bad, the whole device goes into the e-landfill.
good to know
7:17 can you use this one for chicken parts wings legs etc ?
yes
You need to look at the Combustion Predictive Thermometer. None of the others compare. 8 sensors on the spike. Finds the lowest temp and uses that as the meat temp. Also measures surface temp and ambient temp all with the same spike. Nothing else like it.
What happens if the Meater probe slips and falls through your grill grates? 😬
that has never happened so not sure
I have a Weber connect, it was initially full of bugs, which they sorted, but every time they update the software it introduces more bugs.
oh wow
@@embersliving they finally sorted the product and it works really well now.
@@MasterChief37 That's great news!
Feels like an obvious improvement for Weber to make to have their own wireless probes
right
Quote: "Like, no one's running a wire through their indoor oven." - Really??? I've been doing that for years. I don't understand why you would think that would be a problem. But, anyway, thanks for the video. That 'Meater' is a pretty cool thermometer: I just need to talk myself into affording one.
Had disappointing results with MEATER. Have 3 MEATER+ probes and 2 have constant connection problems. Charged, blinking green light on block but loses connection when is in Weber Summit grill or one never makes Bluetooth connection despite being paired, green light on block, drops off when properly inserted in item being cooked. Just no consistency with the 2 while one always works splendidly. 🙄
strange. weve had similar issue with one not working, but we opened another and it was fine.
can the meater be used on a steak when searing on say the trident burners of the lynx? aka at high temps for searing?
yes but you have to watch it closely, it could over heat in a short period of time
No Fireboard review?
no
