I love listening to this Zenzele. Thanks for allocating these wonderful people who liberated us. Its heart warming to learn of the great roles they played during the struggle but most importantly to learn how twisted the history of our independence has been politicised for political gains. The masses have been lied to, schools are not teaching us the true history and and media is perpetuating the same narrative of the same lie. Its about time someone brought this truth out and thanks to you my brother. Lets include the names of these great veterans who fought for our independence not just the chosen few that we hear of all the time. Keep it coming brother we love being edified.

Well appreciated. Its more than 40 years since the end of the struggle, so some memories have become hazy.
The most popular broadcast was from Zambia. The popular voice was that of Jane Ngwenya. Thenjiwe Lesabe together with Josiah Chinamano and Willie Musarurwa went into exile later in the struggle(late 1978 or early 1979). This was because of a renewed crackdown on nationalists.
Solwezi is about 600km from Lusaka, its impossible for any kijana to have walked that distance. JZ 1 was so called after JZ 2 was established in Solwezi. The kijanas together with their teachers and other staff were transported to Solwezi using the UBZ(United Bus Zambia) buses. The walking was done when relocating from JZ 2 to JZ 3. This took slightly over half a day.
At Lusaka Airport there was a British Caledonia plane. Legend was that the plane had been hijacked by Cde Sydney( a veteran ZIPRA guerrila who was based at Nampundwe). The veracity of this incident needs input from senior war veterans.
Keep up the good work you are doing Zenzele.
