I have been in pretty much the same kind of situation as you. He used to be physical with me and he would always say it wouldn't happen again. I have been in pretty much the same kind of situation as you. He used to be physical with me and he would always say it wouldn't happen again. Sometimes it would go as long as a couple of years before he would do it again. But it always ended up happening again. He would have the audacity to say he didn't "hit" me. But fact of the matter is it don't matter if it's a fist or him headbutting me, bouncing a phone off my eye, choking, pulling hair, whatever, hurt is hurt. And physical pain ain't nothing compared with the mind games they pull. Trust flies out the window the minute a man twice your size attacks you. There is no coming back from that. I know. After a few years of him not doing it, I still flinched and kinda tiptoed around when I knew he was angry. That will never go away. Because you know that when it comes down to it, yes, he has it in him to attack you. I've wasted about 12 years on someone like that. Who I think of and cry about every single time I hear this song. The words she sings resonates with my soul. I know what she's going through because I have gone through it too. I'll pray for you that things get better either way you go about it. But just remember, life is too short to waste on the wrong person. With what makes him angry, there's someone out there that will love you for exactly the person you are and don't lose yourself just to make him happy. Make yourself happy. Sorry this is so long! This song is definitely for me. I read several of the comments and I can relate. I've been married 45 years and thought I knew him. We're in our 60s now and I truly believe that he has never been faithful. I just found out that he was in a 19 year relationship with another woman...he says they're "only friends." I never knew about her after all these years. This isn't my rodeo with him, but best believe, it's my LAST. It FIGURES...I guess, huh??

I just found this song and it moved me so deeply. I’ve been through domestic violence before too. I’ve also recently gone through a split with someone who never physically hurt me but he did emotionally. He broke my heart and I’ve been so angry and in so much pain at what he did to me. This song applies for anyone who has let someone they love mistreat them or hurt them in any way. They say love shouldn’t hurt but in my experience it always does.
