From Houston Texas - Just recently learned of these vids - like in the last few days. Not counting, but think I have watched 14 so far. Have enjoyed each and every one. So sorry about your situation, realizing, of course, there are others worse off. Praying for you and yours along with many others. Sheltering in place for just over a month now with my 90-year old mom whom I live with. We both are physically compromised - but grateful to be safe so far. Sir Kent, even i am only like this but i admire you Sir. And i promise to support you and your channel as long as i can. GOD bless you and your family.
Here's a tip to make this a little faster. Use the inner pan to cook the macaroni and while it's cooking stack the outer pan on top, it's plenty hot enough to make the sauce. That way you can do both parts at the same time.
I’m really sorry that because some people are so mean and nosy you’ve had to explain yourself. I love your channel and because I’m disabled and haven’t been able to get out and about for years you’ve brought the wonderful outdoors to me. Thank you 👍
Hi Andy, the strainer- chopping board cover has a square cut out of it, I believe that is there so you can use your hot pan grabber handle to grab pot when straining.✌
I love my Trangia stoves! Got the 27 and the 25 and been using them for over 30 years. A couple of tips for people, if you're using meths as fuel add around 10% water to it and it prevents the pans getting sooty which is a pain to clean off. Also the base section has holes on 50% of it for a reason. If you face the holes into the wind it cooks faster. If you want a slower cook turn the holes away from the wind.
Adding water to the meths lowers the burn temperature. It is far better to use bioethanol. If you check out Amazon there is a product there that is 99% pure. No soot, clean burn and rapid boil. Significantly better than meths!

Always have loved this guys content! I feel like it’s a TV show for me! I can’t stop watching your videos! Keep up the good work man your growing so fast!
never mind the bacon, enjoy the extra protein @ 18:12..? the trangia has always been my goto for a quick cuppa or a simple meal and if you pack it with a wood gasifier you get free or cheap, and even better, quiet cooking!
Hi Andy. I'd just like to say a quick word of thanks for your videos. I work in a quite stressfull job, I'm a community psychiatric Nurse for the NHS. Very tough at the moment, as were are basically the "front line" in the community. However, I find your videos incredibly relaxing, and inspiring. I found you by accident. Im currently working twigh light shifts, 12-12. When i get home at midnight, i pour myself a large single malt and watch your uploads. I find it a great way to unwind. You have a very natural, relaxed affable manner about you. You've also inspired me to get back into Bushcraft. I live near Pendle Hill in Lancashire, in quite a rural area. So am lucky to have access to woodlands and nature. Ive been taking my boys out on my days of, into nature. Anyway, sorry if I'm rambling. Please keep them coming when you can. And all the best pal. Stay safe.
Hi Carl, Dont apologise.. not rambling at all.. thank you for the kind words and for your hard work.. I have a friend in the same roll etc down here :) Im glad to hear that my vids help you unwind a little.. making them is also very therapeutic for myself :) Stay safe Carl! I hope things calm down for you (and everyone) asap
If you're like me you will love that kit. I have the Trangia 27 ULHA with cutting board and small kettle. I bought a second cutting board to use for cutting fresh meats and fish only, leaving the other cutting board for veggies, fruits and such plus straining (no cross contamination). I also own the Trangia 28 Mini Kit. The Mini is perfect to take along with the Esbit Trekker Set. I had to smile and giggle about you showing the Esbit too. It was like seeing someone else using my own outdoors kitchen. Those kits should serve you well for years. I've had all of them for more than four years now, still going strong no issues. They are my go-to kits along with a Titan by SOLO Stove, a wood gasification stove I use a lot too. Enjoy your new kit, it's a great system!
Another delightful video Kent...people like yourselves are a real asset to RUclips;when people are stuck in boring lockdown at home. We relish the escapism your films provide. Thanks Andy.
This ramadhan I can't back to my hometown, usually when breaking the fast we gather up with the family, but I'm trying to enjoy what I have like you do. Really, your video always cheer me up.
The kettle will fit inside the pots, and the burner goes (wrapped) inside of that, with the pot gripper on top of that. You can get it all inside. That is the charm of it. It takes up less space.
So Andy - what do these phrases mean? "That might be too much butter" and "I may have been too generous with the cheese sauce"?? What? There is such a thing as too much butter? I may have to call emergency services! LOL - it looks delish! People can make that stuff out of the box all they like but home made is always my favorite. We tend to combine an extra sharp cheddar that we grind very finely and a mozzarella then top it with some parm for oven toasted crunch. Of course that's at home. Well done - and that set looks sweet. I like it a lot. I did read your statement before commenting and here's where I get serious - your channel is a delight - I love the content, the planning you put into it, the editing and of course your photography. The work you put into all those things plus the editing and the comments is terrific and certainly must be recognized and appreciated by many of us. Thank you for all your very hard work. Here's hoping this horrid virus gets sorted soon with a treatment plan and a vaccine, so that you and many millions of others can get back to work. Best wishes!
add a bakepacker set to make pizza. use big pot with bakpacker grid insert. ADD WATER TO GRID TO JUST COVER. roll out dough let it rise, then sprinkle flour and flatten. insert flat dough into turkey cooking bag with a drop or two of olive oil. add pizza sauce and toppings, fold up bag top, put top on pot; cook 30 to 45 minutes. remove to cool a bit. EAT!
Good review. I know this is now an old vid but i put my burner inside a food bag, drop that inside the kettle. The kettle fits inside the pans. I also keep a turbo style lighter in there, a knife and fork set and a salt and pepper dispenser. Brilliant bit of kit. I know a lot use the jetfoil type, but for me they are only good for water for dried food. You can do that with this kit if you want or do a full steak dinner. Know what i prefer!!
Excellent video! You perfectly demonstrate two of the weaknesses of the trangia when enclosed in a stove setup: putting the simmering cap on to put out the flame, and using the simmering cap to adjust the flame. Both are remedied your way, with gloves. You also wonderfully demonstrated cooking something other than boiling water or frying bacon or sausage.... those seem to be the “oh wow” tests that many YT’ers use to demonstrate any of the small kits. Well done and thank you for the hard work. As usual, your videos lead me to think of other uses for the gear or technique. Btw, I have two trangia stoves so the weaknesses haven’t deterred me. 😉
I like the kettle. Saving space in your rucksack is the name of the game. A WWII GI field mess kit and Dakote fire worked just fine when I went on week long survival hikes.
Hello Andy back in the day when I had a 27K used it regularly but only with the official Trangia gas converter, god that was expensive even then, I had 'Frankensteined' it a bit and it was really efficient till some toerag stole it from my garage. Anyhoo what I did with the gripper handle was lay it upside down on top of the packed kit and run the strap through the channel of the handle under its hinge pin then draw tight this kept it securely out of the way and prevented it from scratching any surfaces ATB mate Bill
Trangia is a nice bit of kit! I recommend putting a kitchen towel or a rag or something similar on top of everything before packing the pan, to prevent the pot rest arms ruining the coating on the pan. Thanks for posting!
Andy, I’ve camped all my life and enjoy cooking. I stumbled across your channel moths ago and extremely enjoy it. As soon as our lockdown here in my parts of the USA; Illinois will see me get up north to Wisconsin. I go to a place called Door County. I look forward to trying some of your menu ideas. Your a A #1 guy and like you say, we’re in this together. Take care!
Hi Kent Survival :-) Thank you for continuing to share with us.I send you lots of best & well wishes* I love the Trangia system (it is 75 years old) I was inspired to buy mine after watching Wiltshire Man. Love Paul Bissekers channel too.I bought the Duossal set -it makes it a bit more of a tank to carry, but being stainless steel inside is great for cooking & the set should last a life-time :-)
I'm so very sorry that you and so many more are going through this 💔😔 I pray it's over soon. I so very much enjoy your videos. I've learned so much from you. And being a female from the corn fields of Illinois USA that says a lot. I so look forward to hearing your voice and seeing your videos. Please keep them coming as I pray for you and yours. God bless Sir
I love my Trangia. I don't have this set but it looks pretty well thought out and seemed to work a treat for you. That mac 'n cheese looked fantastic as well! A very simple and satisfying meal. Bacon definitely would've kicked it up a notch but another option is a few dashes of Worcestershire sauce. May sound odd but it gives it a really nice savoury tang. Use as much or as little as you want. Thanks for another great video Andy. And don't worry too much about the "social shamers" out there. We, your channel subs, know you would never do anything to put yourself or others at risk. Hope you're doing well. Please stay safe and ATB - Darby, Nova Scotia, Canada
Very envious of your day out in the woods, the bluebells looked absolutely beautiful. The Trangia is a nice piece of kit, perfect for a short camping trip or festival. I loved the dinky little Esbit stove too :-) Thanks for the video, Andy.
I have been using this set for many years. Works great. I put the kettle inside too and the burner fits nicely inside the kettle. Great video as always:-) Greetings from Norway!
Andy - you are pain in my wallet - literally straight on the net ordering in trangia set! Love your videos and how calm and peaceful you are! Keep up the good work fella!!
G'day Andy, thanks for another video. I brought a Trangia set back in 1978 it measures 180 mm x100 mm when packed up, and its had heaps of use over the past 42 years and it's still going strong, I've only just changed the O ring about a month and a half ago. Sometimes the jets clog up but you just have to wash it with some steel-wool and poke the holes with a pin and its good to go again. I'm sure you'll get years of use out of your set, and I really like the anodised pots and frying pan, I might have to look into getting some of those. Anyway stay safe and I'm looking forward to the next one 🍻🇦🇺
It's great that this video has a lot of views! My husband was in the army and he told me that the Trangia is a very popular item that the military buy on top of their standard army kit. I definitely think you needed more butter in there....delish!
Neat kit for cooking in the warmer months. The windscreen meets a real need with alcohol burners since the burners put out fewer BTUs than other pressurized fuel burners.
I've seen people storing the kettle in the same package, just put the burner in it and then store the kettle in the saucepan. And I am hungry of macaronni. Thanks for sharing!
Got a "fake" Trangia years ago from Aldi or Lidl. Worked fine but I got fed up lugging bottles of meths around with me. Ended up with a similar sized set of non-stick pots and a folding gas stove. Actually, now that I remember, something went wrong with the burner and I had to buy a replacement which was noticeably better quality. The pans were aluminium so frying food wasn't much fun.
I have two trangia stoves. Both are about 30+ years old. And taken a beating. Nothing better in my view. But when the gas burner came out. That was a game changer for the system. Get a gas burner for it. Trust me. You won’t regret it.
Enjoyed that very much. Thats an impressive system. Mac and cheese looked great but I would have tipped the pasta into the cheese sauce pan to save the washing up. To clean that pan that caught it only needs a small amount of water with a lid and the steam does the hard work 👍
I have a 27, had jt a few years now aluminium, made kne or two modifications. Very good system easy to use, have also gas buener makes it more controllable. Get a stick on a magnet for simmer ring, it just knocks out the jets not much else.
Fair play to you matey, coming up with content during all this shite going on. One of my favourite outdoor based RUclips channels. Also, the only one I watch on the tv downstairs! God speed.
I enjoyed the Trangia setup when I was younger, backpack, basha and bivvy. As you get older and more confident in the bush you tend to drop so much kit. These days it's a cast iron skillet and three rocks for my cooking and brew setup. No sodding good if you are on the side of Ben Nevis though.
I've had this same kit in plain Ali for years plus the massive pot the whole shebang nests inside, well worth getting one as it makes it so much more versatile. I got given a whole set in immaculate condition of the larger model last year, the kettle is massive by comparison!
you could shape a craper from an old credit card or get one from online. it makes cleaning the pots and pans very easy and you need to use less water too
Hey Andy, I don't know when they started, but I got one in 1985 that I recently gave to my grandson for his fishing trips. These things just work, solid.
I like your demo videos. They’re well done. When you were making the Mac and Cheese, I thought you were going to use a boxed one..all from scratch...I’m impressed..especially when the whisk came out! Good job. Take care 🇨🇦 ❤️
Nice little kit, lots of pieces but the fuel defuser needs a handle like your older one. But the mac n cheese won the show. Thanks for the video, stay well
Excellent Video and I feel awful for saying this but.... If you had added the pasta to the sauce instead of sauce to pasta, one of the pans would have been a real easy clean. I love cooking on meth stoves and amaze people when I cook a BIR curry from scratch, in a mess tin on a beer-can stove. Keep up the good work pal, best wishes.
It’s shameful that when I make Mac and cheese in my fully equipped kitchen, I use the kind that comes in a box - and this guy can make it from scratch even in the middle of a forest, and get amazing results.
I love my Trangia!! I have swapped out the fuel burner for a gas one.....what a difference that makes!! Obviously the only thing is carrying some extra weight in a gas bottle!!
Beautiful kit Andy👍 I remember starting with a Sterno folding stove when I was in the Scouts. I quickly graduated to a LP "Grasshopper" setup, and finally to my SVEA 123. I still take that SVEA packed into a coffee pot on every trip. Must be almost 40 years old now... Thanks for the video, the Mac and cheese looked really good, I'll have to try it your way sometime .. All the Best
Really enjoy the videos you put up. I have become very interested in getting out and camping over the last couple of years and was planning to get out this year, but covid-19 put a stop to that! I have several health issues that mean I have to shield for 12 weeks so I am living vicariously through your videos. Looking forward to watching this one later tonight!
Sorry to hear that Peter, this mess has just put us all in a kind of limbo hasnt it.. i care for my dad so im in for 12 weeks also. hope youre holding up
Hi Kent, thanks for doing the vid (and your footnote, hope things go well with you and yours). While I'm not currently 'rocking' the full trangia system (I'm using the pots and small frames) if I could only use one cooking system it would be the Trangia, it covers a lot of bases and for extended trips it covers a lot of bases. Good luck mate.
Andy, another great video, I use and love the Trangia stove, but PLEASE we are British and hopefully proud of the fact. It is "Macaroni cheese". "Mac 'n' cheese" is a plastic product that our cousins pretend is food. Also, add the pasta to the sauce rather than the other way around, that way you only have one "dirty" pan.
Kent is really good with a high percentage of fats, protein, I think it's good that you always make your sauces yourself. ! if there are mushrooms and berries later, the whole thing will be even more interesting. ! I personally wish you a great spring start. !
Hi Andy. I’ve wanted that particular kit for quite awhile. I do have the burner & a small windscreen that works great. Love Trangia. Mac & Cheese looked excellent!! 🙏 Stay healthy.
Great review on the two stoves but that Mac and Cheese is starving me to death. I think the bacon would have been great too. Hate that you forgot it. Gonna show this to my kids and see I can get them to try this. Thanks Andy!!! Keep up the great videos.
Nice presentation of 2 different cocking sets and the practical preparation of a delicious meal in the TRANGIA27! Thanks! Please describe the contents of your secret spice mixture!
I was surprised you didn't pack the kettle inside the kit. The spirit burner (in the yellow bag) fits neatly inside the kettle and the kettle goes in with all three supports in the down position.
Nice video. Just purchased the same set as you, just been playing with it a bit but hope to head out on a 3 day trip soon. I am fortunate that I live just a few hundred meters from the wild I guess you would put it. Just need to mind the bears now. Be safe and keep the videos coming, do enjoy them all. Like you I have no work either these days but, I still have the wilderness on Vancouver Island. Take care.
Like you`re videos indeed coming from a scandinavian. A little tip as i got the kit myself. Put the alcoholburner with the yellow protection plastic bag inside the kettle(as it is ment to be), then the kettle inside the 1L pot and everything fits nicely inside a small package.
You can also put the pan upside down to retain even more heat 😁 I love this set so much. Especially during bad weather. Its stable, its easy to use and pack away, its fast and so on And if you use it with gas, there is nothing faster and efficient
Hi Andy . I've had both these kits for years. Both fantastic bit of kit. I use the Esbit for backpacking 🎒 and I take them both when I'm on the motorbike or car, handy to have two burners BTW, if you put the burner inside the kettle, you can fit that in the kit too.

If you store the burner inside the kettle make sure you wrap it in its plastic bag to stop any galvanic corrosion from the different metals.

Lastly you can use the pot grip to place the simmer ring precisely on the stove, rather than dropping it on or using leather gloves.
Great video as always, really liked the bluebells in flower. Take Care, Stewart
cool, thanks Stewit :)
Always have loved this guys content! I feel like it’s a TV show for me! I can’t stop watching your videos! Keep up the good work man your growing so fast!
Thank you Logan :D
never mind the bacon, enjoy the extra protein @ 18:12..?
the trangia has always been my goto for a quick cuppa or a simple meal
and if you pack it with a wood gasifier you get free or cheap, and even better, quiet cooking!
Have you tried or seen a wood gasifier in a Trangia? If so, which brand.
I came straight to the comments looking for someone who noticed the worm 😭
That forest looks so beautiful and calming, love the sound of the birds in the background...
I have a friend in the same roll etc down here :) Im glad to hear that my vids help you unwind a little.. making them is also very therapeutic for myself :)
Stay safe Carl! I hope things calm down for you (and everyone) asap
You can store the kettle in the pot, then everything fits in the set
Nice cooking system
Thanks for watching Lonnie, hope you guys are staying safe over there!
The kettle will fit inside the pots, and the burner goes (wrapped) inside of that, with the pot gripper on top of that. You can get it all inside. That is the charm of it. It takes up less space.
It's so lucrative to use all this outdoor equipment, what a great hustle, much respect!
It for the people who are watching their weight. : )
@@danielsweeney6742 And I was just trying to be funny. That was meant to be a silly comment.
add a bakepacker set to make pizza. use big pot with bakpacker grid insert.
Beautifully shot! Amazing footage. A Trangia dinner has never looked so good!
I have the non stick version of the 27, I think it’s great. I pack mine as you suggested at the end thanks for the video
thanks :) good aim is definitely a bonus haha
Kent Survival lol! Yes! You went 2-2. That’s why I bot the gloves... I kept missing!!
And now that I've reached the end of the video I realised that's not needed with the strainer, and you mentioned a cloth. Cheers again!
Love Paul Bissekers channel too.I bought the Duossal set -it makes it a bit more of a tank to carry, but being stainless steel inside is great for cooking & the set should last a life-time :-)
Andy, you are a superstar, thank you for all that you do. Peace.
I've got to stop watching these reviews, they make me want everything 😆 that looks so good! Great video as always 👍
Thanks, I did eventually figure it all out fitting it in, works well doesnt it :)
@@KentSurvival Works great!
Andy - you are pain in my wallet - literally straight on the net ordering in trangia set! Love your videos and how calm and peaceful you are! Keep up the good work fella!!
haha, sorry Jordon :p Its definitely a kit with its advantages.. I hope it works well for you! Mac n cheese on the menu? ;)
Kent Survival oh yes - with bacon though 😉Went for non stick version with the accessories
Yeah, i definitely see the advantages to it now, look forward to some more cooks :)
nice to see you buying trangia, it´s made 50km from where i live, nice stuff
My wife says "Alright Andy! Real Mac & Cheese in the woods! Kudos to you! I agree with her. That looked delicious!
What a wonderful video Andy! Your videos are much needed right now. It's a nice piece of kit!
I've seen people storing the kettle in the same package, just put the burner in it and then store the kettle in the saucepan. And I am hungry of macaronni. Thanks for sharing!
I buy my first trangia in 2006.. and i still use it, its like a life time stove i guess.. highly recomended
My burner fits in the kettle and the kettle fits in the pan. Great video
I have two trangia stoves. Both are about 30+ years old. And taken a beating. Nothing better in my view. But when the gas burner came out. That was a game changer for the system. Get a gas burner for it. Trust me. You won’t regret it.
Mate, you're blessed to have access to a place like that. Can't find a place anywhere in Kent for love nor money for some solitude and bushcrafting.
i am so very appreciative for it :)
Same where I live, it’s all taken up by hunting clubs, timber companies or owned by ppl.
I have been using trangia for years. I light it with matches. I just drop a lighted match into the fuel pot. It usually burns away.
Another great video. Good to see you back in your woods. I did enjoy the garden cooking but this is way better.
One of the best mac & cheese I've seen in the forest yet. Awesome !!! Tom from RI USA
Thanks Tom :)
God speed.
Thank you very much indeed :D
Hi, when the simmer ring loosens up with use you can easily adjust it with your long lighter or anything that will reach in. cheers.
Thanks for the video, stay well
We love our Trangias - we have both sizes and the gas burner! We use ours in our open canoe - on a piece of wood, so we can brew up on the paddle!
sounds ideal :D
Excellent Video and I feel awful for saying this but.... If you had added the pasta to the sauce instead of sauce to pasta, one of the pans would have been a real easy clean. I love cooking on meth stoves and amaze people when I cook a BIR curry from scratch, in a mess tin on a beer-can stove. Keep up the good work pal, best wishes.
Oh my goodness! That Mac and cheese looked amazing.... love the trangia also. Great video Andy👍🏼
It’s shameful that when I make Mac and cheese in my fully equipped kitchen, I use the kind that comes in a box - and this guy can make it from scratch even in the middle of a forest, and get amazing results.
It’s not shameful, it’s merely something you haven’t done yet.
Great.Andy you are one happy camper.
Put the pot gripper in the kettle aswell, lid dosent fit on proper but the gripper dosent poke into the pan
That lil clear burner fuel and set up looks nice .
I love my Trangia!! I have swapped out the fuel burner for a gas one.....what a difference that makes!! Obviously the only thing is carrying some extra weight in a gas bottle!!
Beautiful kit Andy👍
I remember starting with a Sterno folding stove when I was in the Scouts.
Andy, if you put the burner in the kettle, the kettle fits in too
Love your down to earth, no BS, humble videos mate 👍🏻
Really enjoy the videos you put up. I have become very interested in getting out and camping over the last couple of years and was planning to get out this year, but covid-19 put a stop to that! I have several health issues that mean I have to shield for 12 weeks so I am living vicariously through your videos. Looking forward to watching this one later tonight!
Sorry to hear that Peter, this mess has just put us all in a kind of limbo hasnt it.. i care for my dad so im in for 12 weeks also. hope youre holding up
@@KentSurvival Thanks! All the best to you and yours - keep up the good work.
Love the trangias got three, little tip of you use two wife tent pegs you can adjust the summer ring easier, brilliant vid as per normal
Hope the look at it helped, i like it more than i thought i would :)
Great review on the two stoves but that Mac and Cheese is starving me to death. I think the bacon would have been great too. Hate that you forgot it. Gonna show this to my kids and see I can get them to try this. Thanks Andy!!! Keep up the great videos.
You did more on a hike than I do at home when I make Mac n cheese lol
I love the idea of this video, and I love the concept.
The fuel canister fits well into the kettle with the handle if you want to try it!
Nice little kit. Also you inspired me to make Mac & Cheese & Bacon for dinner later tonight :D
You can also put the pan upside down to retain even more heat 😁
I love this set so much.
Especially during bad weather.
Its stable, its easy to use and pack away, its fast and so on
And if you use it with gas, there is nothing faster and efficient
Hi Andy .
I've had both these kits for years. Both fantastic bit of kit. I use the Esbit for backpacking 🎒 and I take them both when I'm on the motorbike or car, handy to have two burners BTW, if you put the burner inside the kettle, you can fit that in the kit too.
Thanks for the inspiration. Macaroni cheese for tea it was. Yummy
The multi disc also protects your frying pan from getting scratched when your pans are nested, that alone makes it worth getting in my opinion.😁
