right?? i could do this in my sleep but if i were to try to play what a pianist or guitarist calls a simple riff or line, i would feel like one of these ppl lmfaoooooo. really goes to show the massive leap you have to take when starting an instrument
Idk, that one white dude was staying with the metronome pretty well! His coordination was obviously lacking, but if you listen to his snare hits they are spot on
My friends all struggled on drums on rock band but I was the only one that could do it after bending my brain around the coordination lol. It’s hard at first but it does get easier
Taylor, yep, everything takes practice practice practice. Set your mind to it and any instrument will become much easier to play. I hope that’s what people get from this video
Most drummers underestimate the difficulty of playing the basic groove, it really takes time to make your body and your limbs gain independence to play. Nice vid!
The very first time I sat with a drum kit in school, I was 14. I instantly played something because I was pressured by the senior kids to just do something. Everyone, and especially my best friends were shocked! My buddy asked me: "where did you learn to do that?!" I answered: " I dont know." ...but I never looked back!.. I've been playing for over 30 years now! It comes naturally to me.
Can we coordinate the next time you do this so I can show up in a disguise and play offset by a 16th, then you tell me I suck and I have to rethink my life top to bottom, then it ends with me in a ditch drinking southern comfort directly from the bottle before you show up and say “aaaaaw dog I was just kidding”, then I say “I was too!” and rip off the disguise?

My GF tried drums for the first time in my house. I teched her this pattern, and she got it first try. At the time I didn't realize how amazing it was, but now I see
8:15 this made me so happy i can only imagine how amazing it must've been to be in that little special moment. just pure joy man, just pure good vibes. dude you've made me smile and laugh so many times. you got so much good energy, i could be in the lowest mood ever, you manage to make me smile. i wish i could give back more or in a more meaningful way but right now, these words are all i got. and i ain't too good with words so i'll just leave it here as it is. thank you for existing.
there's 3 main problems at the same time that make this impossible at first try for so many ppl: 1 - ppl think / hear / see the beat as "one thing" and try to do it all at once instead of simply doing continuous hi-hat hits as guide and trying to add kick and snare by turns. 2 - once you sit down, you start actively thinking and analyzing whick makes you perplex by the different "look / view" compared to watching him do it from the other angle 3- nervous being filmed, looked at & doing something new: mentally that immediately puts you in a bit of a clumsy mood that certainly doesn't help to take it is easy (think of a kid) that would help you A LOT especially playing the drums
This made me feel so good, you gave people the chance to try something they never would have, and even if they don’t pick it up as a hobby , when their kid is looking to join band and don’t know what instrument to play, they will think of that one time on Christmas they held a pair of drumsticks and sat behind a kit and taped our a beat, “well why not try drums?” And then that kid starts a journey that takes him to life changing heights.
6:13 the sad boi strange pop punk Anderson Paak we didn't know we needed, let alone knew existed. What a fuckin' legend. More please. But like actually thought out, with your chops and the strange but wonderful lyrics that come from that wonderful mind of yours

Ya I'm trying to air drum this rn and I'm basically punching the air As a 3 year guitar player who never touched a real drum kit this is super hard to do all three parts at once
@@hunter00143 its a lot easier if you actually hit something, like just hit your desk with your fingers (or hands), it makes it musical too which helps a lot instead of just trying to imagine it!
I feel like the learning curve is steep just because of the feet coordination, there comes a certain point where using your feet and your hands isn't a problem from there it's smooth sailing, untill you choose to jump into complex rhythms and stuff.
I remember seeing a video of the great freestyle rapper Eyedea where he said one of his favorite things was to listen to non-rappers try to freestyle. He loved it because they always came up with new flows and rhythms he had never thought of. This video feels the same. Even though none of them are "proficient" drummers, they each have their own way of playing. I think my favorite was John. Love the off-kilter bass drum stuff he was doing. And Brittany straight up started playing s polka! That was cool too. 😅
It took me like 50 minutes the first time, while my friends got it in like 5 or even the first try 😂 But kept grinding and now I can say I'm half decent for an amateur :D

love the accenting on the bottom of the hihat in the last groove you play. 30 yrs playing and always learning...even from younger cats like yourself. props to you
I love how some musical talent is universal, the guy who was freestyling to the beat at the end was also the most impressive on the kit even though he doesn't play drums. and man, I feel like drums are one of the only instruments you can pick up with no knowledge whatsoever and still have fun. also, not 1 drummer stopped by? haha
I've been watching your videos ever since your channel was still small. That video where you attempted to play duality by slipknot on drums as a jazz drummer was the video that got me into your channel. After watching your content, I decided to have my own drum set despite being low on budget but I really dream to play like you and got my very own beginners' set. I can now play some slow rocks but I will practice hard to get on a decent level of drumming. Thanks Zackgrooves for introducing me to drumming. Keep uploading more funny and wholesome contents👍
This was fun to watch but like everyone is saying, once you figure out drumming its seemingly unfathomable for us to think others can't do what we can do sleeping. Anyways man, great video and I love the vibe. Keep groovin'

The ending when the guy started freestyling and they all were grooving made me smile like crazy. Impeccable vibes.
Music is such a universal language. It has a way of bringing people together!
that's why I love (making) music so much!
That redeemed the whole video in my opinion.

the ending is really fucking great
I sometimes forget how fricking difficult drumming is for non-drummers
I was just about to say the same thing

I’m a bassist and I can lay a groove on a drum it just comes natural to me

Props to these folk for having courage to try it. As a guitarist that jumps in the drum cage any chance I get, I feel like a drum bad ass now.
as a guitarist i can confirm this, i jump on drum every chance i got lol
same here lol
too relatable
As a guitarist and a bassist I annoy my grimmer a lot by getting in his kit.

I always find it odd that not everyone plays music. Or sees a guitar or drums and is like eh.
im sure if i dedicated a few weeks to drums i could play a basic rock beat
This was so entertaining. Would love to see more stuff like this. Amazing. Happy holidays.

I'm just impressed that on so many people trying you only got one (hardly) that could keep a beat. Turns out drums are not that simple
