I’m a big Jordan WOT fan. Started reading them in early nineties when I was in my 40’s. So now I’m old. My video dream of seeing WOT onscreen is being realized, (well sort of). But it’s happening sooo slowly that there’s a good possibility I will not live to see it completed. Or it will be cancelled. I must confess my enthusiasm is waning, perhaps due to self preservation and not wanting to die disappointed.
I can relate, on account of hitting the big 7-0 earlier this year. I have to keep reminding myself that at least I've read all the books (more than once) and that Robert E. Jordan himself didn't even live long enough to see the book series completed. At the least, I am hoping that Amazon completes the full adaptation to the small screen for future generations. The WoT deserves that.
I am 20 years younger, but also started reading the books in the 90s. I was blown away by the books, and although I found the show a tad disappointing in spots, on a rewatch I found both seasons held up much better than I remembered. On my second rewatch of season one I found myself much more relaxed and enjoying it, except for the last episode of S1 of course. S2 I found much better on a rewatch.

Happy to hear that you and the family are feeling better! I am glad that Rafe is going to be free for season 4 of WoT. Although I definitely think it is possible to do two shows, it probably isn't optimal in terms of attention to detail, and I'd definitely rather have more of his attention on season 4! 😁 Looking forward to any and all news and marketing coming up, Jon, let the micro analysis begin! Hope you'll be better soon! As always, thanks for the great update - I'm still hoping for a fourth season, but I'm not too confident at the moment. Maybe we as a fandom should step up and arrange a marketing campaign via some money raising platform. Rather sure Amazon is not gonna lift a finger. Prior to the HoD season, it was impossible to not see the advertisement around London, but that's HBO. For RoP, nothing. For WoT, probably nothing, too. And then they'll wonder and be dumbstruck why the quota is not as desired... I don't get it.

First I'm glad you're feeling better, you and the family. You have been missed. Rafe being free to concentrate on WOT is great news. Trying to adapt 14 books into 8 seasons is a demanding job, needing his full attention and focus. I am so pleased with the likelihood of S3 being released March or April. It was unrealistic of me to pray for a New Year's Release, but Easter time is acceptable. We just need all the fans to watch each week, in record numbers. Keep well, and we'll hear from you soon, I hope🙏🏻🙏🏻

I am so excited that the longing is nearly at an end! I am glad that you are recovering tho... I have a nasty ear infection that is lingering after my last cold.
IDK what all the fuss is about, as I've been rather enjoying the show! 🤗 All of the actresses are killing it. Those scenes of Egwene being held captive were phenomenally well acted, and SO hard to watch. And Nynaeve's big test at the school was incredible too. And I love the lady who plays Liandrin. IDK, I think sometimes some of ya'll forget that tons of people who *haven't* read the book series watch these shows too... and so far, me & my friends who've been watching it, have really liked it. I've been incredibly happy w/everybody's performances. The cast is great. Sorry some of ya'll are so unhappy w/things, but I have enjoyed this show 10x more than Rings of Power, just being honest.
R Pike recently completed her auto version of 'A Shadow Rising". S3 could take to Morinne's disappearance and her remaining parts may have already been filmed for S4 or even S5 - now how's that for speculation?
Sorry you and your family have been ill. I hope all of you are 100% soon. Wait? ! Marketing? WoT Marketing? Is that a thing? I didn't take the other video as all gloom and doom and a lot of people did seem to blow it out of proportion. :( I do think Rafe focusing on Wot and not having to juggle two projects is probably a good thing.
_"~that showrunner/executive producer Rafe Judkins, along with EPs Hawk Ostby and Mark Fergus, have left the project"_ - (BIG sigh of relief) - Best news I've heard in a long time! I was seriously sweating bricks in anxiety that Rafe was likely to ruin one of my favourite video game characters.
9:56 the risk John is that people use an IP to get studio buy in and then drive their own creative story using the IP as a vehicle. Creators are at the moment either creatively destitute or unable to get a foothold to tell their own original story. God of War may have just dodged a bullet.
For goodness sake, I've always thought that your spoiler warnings went overboard! If you're doing a video about a show, how are you not supposed to talk about the show? You're doing just fine! Hope you feel better, and I hope to see season 3 in March.
I love the books, and I’ve been enjoying the tv show. But I feel pretty much over the tv show now. With such huge gaps between each season it’s impossible for me to rally any excitement for the show.
It's inevitable. These huge fantasy shows (Wheel of Time, Rings of Power, House of the Dragon, later seasons of Game of Thrones...) take a lot of production and post-production time.
I truly hope if they make it to the last book what kind of honor of the writers of the book if they would make their episodes one of the portables at Rand fighting in cave with moraine. Then end with the books end game.
@@WoTUp need to also accept a vastly reduced budget then. I love SG1 also but every other episode was set on a new planet that just looked like Canada. If Amazon funded this show like they do RoP they’d have a hit.
So if it won't be greenlit until after S3 irs, won't that mean even more delay between seasons? Would they spend money filming S4 if it hasn't been greenlit yet?
Possibly more delay, however it doesn’t have to take the full 2 years it has been taking when they begin filming so early. In other words, maybe normally they would be filming the next season already and then it still takes 2 years. They could probably still “only” take 2 years if S4 starts filming after S3 comes out.
I absolutely love the actors and their portrayal of their respective characters, and thats been the sole highlight of the show for me. I cant help but think Rafe et al is too focused on thier own beliefs and tv norms as stands to really do justice to this epic complex fantasy we love.
OMG, a Matchbox cars movie??? I would prefer a Hot Wheels movie, but still so excited. Season 3 covers Fan Favorite Shadow Rising, so it does need to be good.
I appreciate your optimism but I tried to argue for Rafe since season one, that he was a huge fan of the book series and that he would take good care of it. I no longer believe that. I'm not a purest, I get changes need to be made because of time and budget and the medium of television. However, the choices that have been made; The mystery box for all of season one. Making the dragon being possibly female, Perrins's wife, spending an entire episode on the warder bond in season one instead of the season where we lose Moraine, sad Moraine in the beginning of season two. Rand being an expert in using saidin for no reason, breaking your own rules that you established... I could go on and on. Making Egwene being the foremost hero... ugghhh. So many things he chose to do that just made zero sense. I'm giving season three a chance to recover, but if he continues on this way I won't be back for season 4. Honestly, they should fire him like they did from God of War. (I don't believe he walked away from that, he got politely asked to leave the building) Get someone in there who truly likes and "understands" the series and also understands story structure and execution.
I completely agree with you. I gave him the benefit of the doubt as long as I could. I don’t begrudge anyone their enjoyment of the show for those who do and I find little tidbits here and there that I enjoy, because I love the source material. That said, I do feel that what Rafe is doing is basically a slap in the face to Robert Jordan.
@@chrtravels I agree with both of you! The saddest part is Rafe is entirely unapologetic about it all. His agenda is more important than staying true to the source material. 😡

He s the feking Dragon Reborn and they hardly show him. Season 2 was so bad that I cancelled Amazon Prime.
Rafe and his writers room getting the boot from The God Of War adaptation at Amazon proves the writing is on the wall. Season 3 will be the last season.
