I think doing nexus first is ok because at least you get to practice macro play. So it's decent for skill development. Doing something like DT drop all day is terrible for skill development because you only get to practice DT play and the game is pretty much over if you all in fails
@@TripodianTT , true, knowing how to cheese is important, but I think what Artosis means by "wrong way of playing the game" is that you can spam something that's effective in the current meta but it doesn't necessarily improve your fundamental skills. Playing cheese strats that require micro may be good for your skill, like if you play fast reaver you practice reaver micro, if you play muta all ins in ZvT you practice muta micro, etc. But not every cheese requires skill. For example, in PvZ there's a meta of gate FE, so if you do 9p speed ling all in every game you'll have 70-80% winrate. Most likely you won't be able to kill protoss with the initial attack, but you continue to produce only lings and you wait outside P's base until they move the zealots out and there will be an opening in the wall. Most of the time they move zealots out. This is because if they have 5-6 zealots they really don't want to just sit inside the base with these zealots. There's nothing artsy about this cheese, any D rank can do it and beat S ranks.
One of the my favorite things about JyJ is how he locks down and invests in his 3rd to ensure it's ALWAYS a loss to commit to the attack. Wish more Terrans would do that. ~500 minerals of buildings and a couple tanks and it's basically a fortress that won't fall to basic runbys or reaver drops.
I always love to see the vulture harass, and then also the vulture+upgrades run bys. It feels so effective for something that is just minerals. Not just the in-game impact, but also the mental bandwidth cost of keeping the toss on their toes.
It seems like not blocking early harass is the biggest issue protoss are facing lately. Vultures and lings seems like it could be walled in and body blocked better.
That gg when it came in, you knew it was over long before that. He held on for as long as he could - but when the siege tanks are at your front door and you keep telling them nobody’s home and they don’t go away….well. You know how it is.
dewalt won BSL once in season 3 2017 that was the first "big" bsl with underwhelming line up full of starcraft brood war titans like surgeon, michel, eradior and favorit. Artostis is just biased, as alwasy (and as im writing this comment, he is in the lower bracket, yet again beaten by bonyth)
Is it wrong of me to just assume the loss when I saw the first probe out was afk for almost 2 seconds? Then watching the vulture get in, the probes dance around for too long, and losing a goon for a vult. That cost probably goes down even with range + bunker pressure repair. Or tank sniping. Idk
@@deltaphi9770 think people underthink it to be honest, the lost money during all those stages set you up to be constantly behind - more likely to have slower building placement to block vulture timings etc. You can make more errors later when u can replace your army immediately or have enough wealth to replace workers while losing your army still.
DeWalt's skill is rising very quickly but he is definitely below JyJ for now. With that in mind and the losses at the eraly game, he played really well.

protoss picked all the worst places to do drops and recalls. literally put his shuttles and arbiters in range of all possible turrets whenever he went for a drop or recall, unreal.
I feel like time and time again I see high level protoss players NOT taking care of their arbiters after investing time and resources into a push with them.... why do they just throw them away?

I find it rather hilarious when pro gramers talk about the 'right' or 'best' way to play a game, yet the cry like kids and throw tantrums when they lose to a "cheese". Like its a game, just because your opponent doesn't play the way you want them to, doesn't make it wrong or bad.
"Protoss wishes they had this guy" - can't speak for everyone, but honestly? nah. by rule of "all races except the one I play are op/carried" that most SC players abide by, no toss or zerg would want a carried terran player any more than a terran player would want a carried zerg or protoss, lol. but like even if you actually look at the game objectively, you probably would not want players from the strongest race to play the weakest race because they'd only get weaker, UNLESS they were innovative enough that they could actually push the meta - which few players do (and JyJ doesn't strike me as that guy, he strikes me as like really good at macroing and SK terran and stuff. but im just a nobody who knows very little, so don't listen to me obv)

Unfortunately it's like not even cheese anymore because of how strong cross map scout has become. If they find them cross map they're golden.

Re: the vulture harrass, it's worth mentioning that Dewalt didn't make a partial wall at his natural despite having a pylon there since 4:23.
Recall Flash started winning against Bisu making a name for himself with vulture cheese, too.

Thank you for DeWalt games. I'm from Russia and it's nice to see him playing with great players. With your commentary it's even more fun to watch.❤

The cross-spawn time-distance checks out, even if we simplify it to a square side vs. diagonal. 28 * sqrt(2) is around 39.5

The speed with which JyJ got a winning advantage against cross-spawn nexus first really shows the difference in quality between Korean pros and RoW
