May Allah SWT bless you sister. Umar is one of the closest companions to our Messenger PBUH, and one of the greatest leaders in our history. I wouldn't judge Umar based on a TV series because many believe it did the REAL Umar no justice! Not even close to Umar's charisma and extraordinary intelligence and personality..
but since you don't know him i think watching it is a good head start, just search on RUclips: Umar series English subtitles.

Many people have a misconception that Islam is a new religion, which came into existence 1400 years ago and Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) is the founder of this religion. In fact, Islam is there, for time immemorial - since man set foot on this earth. And Prophet Muhammad (pbuh), is not the founder of this religion, but he is the last and final messenger of Allah (swt) of Almighty God which was sent for the whole of humankind.
The Glorious Qur’an says in Surah Fatir, Chapter No. 35, Verse No. 24,
“Wa-in min ommatin illa khalafeeha natheer”
“There is not a nation to whom we have not sent a warner.”
Allah says in Surah Rad, Chapter No. 13, Verse No. 7,
    “Walikulli qawmin had”
“And to every nation have we sent a guide By name there are 25 Prophets of Almighty God mentioned in the Qur’an. For example Adam, Noah, Abraham, Moses, Jesus, Muhammad (Peace be upon them all). There are no less than 25 Prophets mentioned in the Glorious Qur’an by name.
But Allah also says in the Qur’an in Surah Nisa, Chapter No. 4, Verse No. 164, and Surah Ghaafir, Chapter No. 40, Verse No. 78,
“We narrate to you the stories of some of the messengers, of some of the Prophets, of the others we don’t.”
That means all the Prophets have not been mentioned by name in the Glorious Qur’an.
And our beloved Prophet Muhammad (saw) said, it’s a Saheeh Hadith which is mentioned in Mishkaat Al Masaabih, Vol. No. 3, Hadith No. 5737, our beloved Prophet Muhammad (saw) said that,
“Allah (swt) has sent about 1,24,000 Prophets on the face of the earth.”
But by name only 25 are mentioned in the Qur’an. But all the messengers that came before the last and final Messenger Prophet Muhammad (pbuh), they were only sent for their people, and their complete message
which they brought was only meant to be followed in totality till a particular time period. All the Messengers that came before Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) they were only meant for a particular group of people. For example Isa (a.s.), Jesus Christ (pbuh) was only sent for the Jews, for the Bani Israel.
Allah says in the Qur’an in Surah Ale ‘Imran Chapter No. 3, Verse No. 49, that Jesus Christ (pbuh) was sent as a Messenger to the Bani Israel, to the Children of Israel.
The same message is repeated in Surah Saff, Chapter No. 61, Verse No. 6, Jesus Christ (pbuh) says to the Bani Israel, “I’ve been sent as a Messenger to you”
And the same message is even repeated in the Bible. Its mentioned in the Bible, in the Gospel of Matthew, Chapter No. 10, Verse No. 5 and 6, Jesus Christ (pbuh) says, he tells to his Apostles that,
“Go ye not into the way of the Gentiles”
Who are the Gentiles? The Non Jews, the Hindu’s, the Muslims.
Go ye not into the way of the Gentiles, enter ye not into the city of the Samaritans: But go rather to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.”
The same message is repeated in the Gospel of Matthew Chapter No. 15, Verse No. 24, where Jesus Christ (pbuh) himself says, that,
“I have not been sent but to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.”
That means according to the Qur’an and the Bible, Jesus Christ (pbuh) was only sent for the Bani Israel, only for the Jews, for the children of Israel.
But Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) was the last and final Messenger.
I started my talk by quoting a verse from the Glorious Qur’an from Surah Ahzaab, Chapter No. 33, Verse No. 40, which says,
Ma kana Muhammadun abaahadin min rijalikum walakin rasoola Allahiwakhatama annabiyyeena wakana Allahubikulli shay-in aleema
“Muhammad (pbuh) is not the father of any of you men, but he is the Messenger of Allah and he is the seal of the Prophets. Allah is all-knowing full of knowledge”

So basically after the passing of the prophet (peace be upon him), the leadership was shifted to the caliphs. Umar Ibn Khattab(R.A) was the second caliph and a very close companion of the Prophet (peace be upon him). His caliph reign was the longest and most successful.

Concerning the Companions: The Shiites accept what the Qur'an says about the Companions and neither more nor less
Many companions were faithful and committed to morality, such as Salman. Muqdad Abu Dharr. Bilal. Ammar, who is highly respected by the Shiites
But there were some hypocrites among them who did ugly and anti-Islamic acts that were severely threatened by God in the Qur'an and by the Prophet PBUH.
    Things like escaping the war
    Escape from prayer
    insults to the Prophet
Slander to the wives of the Prophet
    Lying to the Prophet
Loving wealth and life more than the Prophet
    Drop the Holy Quran
Calling the Prophet loudly and mockingly
Fear of martyrdom in the way of Islam
    And .....
All this has been proven by the verses of the Qur'an

I have other accounts of Umar.
    Umar’s death.
Piruz Nahavandi or Abu Lulu Firuz
He was an ex Sassanian soldier, some acoounts say he was a Persian slave of the Tayyaye.
On 31 October 644, Piruz attacked Omar while he was leading the morning prayers, stabbing him six times in the belly and finally in the navel, that proved fatal. Omar was left profusely bleeding while Piruz tried to flee, but people from all sides rushed to capture him; in his efforts to escape he is reported to have wounded twelve other people, six or nine of whom later died, before slashing himself with his own blade to commit suicide. Omar died of the wounds three days later.
I have also a different story about Umar.
The Umar that I have is the guy that after the war of the Tayyaye tribe in Palestine enters Jerusalem in 636. He was a Jew Saducee member of Tayyaye tribe located in the region of Tachkastan in todays Iraq.
The Arabs(Ghazanids and Lakhmids) were originaly from Yemen and both were serving as buffer zones between the Byzantines and the Sassanians. The Ghassanids were Arian Christians even before they left Yemen, but th Lakhmids converted to Christianity later on in 580.
The Arabs hated the Persians because they just to mass deporrtations of Christians from Persian territory and they just align them selves with the Jews.
The Arabs started attacking the Persians with and without the help of the Byzantines. In 600 , but in 622 The Armenian victory gave the Arabs and Heraclius a very warm relationship, the loved him.
As mentioned Umar enters Jerusalem an Iyas Ibn Qabisa Al Tay enters Jerusalem but from Petra in 636.
I also have a different infromation about a Umar.
Gabriel of Beth Qustan (Bequsyone), was managing two dioceses from his monastery in 639, Gabriel goes to talk to Umar about not to tax the Monophysite Christians and give him several papers of the Diatessaron (Combination of the 4 gospels).
After a discussion/debate about the Diatessaron with John De Sabre and lost, Umar converts to Christianity and changes his name to MHMD, in 644.
After his conversion he orders the translation of the gospels to the Tayy language.
    Desi, we have different accounts.

I was the first to return that day (after escaping)

Salamoalaikom Sister. I admire your presued and contents. Mashallah
Please cross examine properly the legacy of our prophet (saw). We are all muslims, But have been divided and misled because of previous events. Ghadir al Qom and Saqifa is one of the major events that took place and has been manipulated by scholars.
Why does nobody know where Fatima is buried till this day?
There are many logical explainations and hadiths that can explain this, but through time this has been ignored by many people because many people are borned into mainstream information..
Why do we see unjustice politics in the Arab world and people in Saudi and such Are floating with gold, money and oil and more, when the neighbours Are oppressed?
Even thou the majority of muslim respect the offical statements of the legacy, doesn't mean that this is the real truth. Jesus(pbuh) was betrayed by his own disiples....why shouldnt this occur in Islam?
The justice is not allways within the big majority...i dont mean to divide with this message...But I Hope you Will dig further and ask the essentials question about Ali, Fatima, Hassan and Hossein and the rest of the prophets(saw) family.
Just sit down and talk to the Shia side and then you can decide what is reasonable or not.
May Allah guide you to the truth. 🤲🏼
