Formed in 2015 in the market town of St Ives, Cambridgeshire by vocalist/bassist Joe Bonson, his brother Jack Bonson on drums, and lead guitarist Phil Haines, Hollowstar wasted no time in making their presence known, picking up The NMG’s ‘Breakthrough Artist’ award in their very first year before returning to collect the awards for ‘Breakout Artist’ and ‘Best Rock Band’ just two short years later. In 2017 they unleashed their debut EP, ‘Some Things Matter’, which peaked at no.13 on the iTunes rock chart and led the way to bigger things. In 2018 they returned to the fold with the acclaimed singles ‘All I Gotta Say’ and ‘Let You Down’, taken from their then forthcoming debut album, which each picked up plays and praise alike on both BBC Radio 2’s Rock Show and Planet Rock, with the latter even singling them out as their ‘Ones to Watch’. Tours alongside the likes of Graham Bonnet and Dan Reed Network only served to raise the band’s stock even further and created a tangible air of excitement as they made preparations for their first ever headline tour, which saw them play to sold-out crowds throughout the UK.
