Maho o Oshiete (Teach Me Your Magic) Lyrics: Taeko Onuki, Music Composed and Arranged by Tatsuro Yamashita // (English translation of the rough meaning of the Japanese lyrics) When I was still in my youth and in a dream, I was lost in search of an invisible tomorrow It was your smile that illuminated me at such a time. Once I fall in love, I don't want to forget my heart in love forever. So teach me your magic So teach me the magic that makes love last forever Once I fall in love, I don't want to forget my heart in love forever. So teach me your magic So teach me the magic that makes love last forever //(Original Japanese lyrics by Taeko Onuki) Mada Yume o Miteita Koro Tesaguri no ashita ni Watashi o Terashita Anata no Hohoemi Ichido Koi o Shitara Tokimeita Kokoro o Wasurenai de itaikara Maho o Oshiete Maho o Oshiete * The two (Tatsuro & Taeko) improvised this song as part of an NHK-FM radio program project. Project: “Tatsuro Yamashita POPS Lecture : A real- experiment in the process of creating a song’” (broadcasted on January 5, 1983.NHK-FM) (The setting was to create a hit song for a hypothetical new singer “Tarbo's” debut song.) Tatsuro improvised the song in one hour, and Taeko Onuki came up with the lyrics in three hours. After that, Tatsuro called his close band members to improvise the band sound to the song, and the process of finishing mix down the song in about 40 minutes was broadcast as it was. This song later became the prototype for Yamashita's album “Big Wave,” which he remade and released as “Theme from Big Wave” with English lyrics. //The band members gathered were as follows(broadcasted on January 5, 1983.) Music Composed and Arranged by Tatsuro Yamashita
// (English translation of the rough meaning of the Japanese lyrics)
When I was still in my youth and in a dream,
I was lost in search of an invisible tomorrow
It was your smile that illuminated me at such a time.
Once I fall in love, I don't want to forget my heart in love forever.
So teach me your magic
So teach me the magic that makes love last forever
Once I fall in love, I don't want to forget my heart in love forever.
So teach me your magic
So teach me the magic that makes love last forever
