Fortnite was at its best in the first 6 months, I made memories there that I will never forget, but the game is so wildly different now I can never enjoy it the same way... but this music? Fortnite in 2017-18 was truly magical, no other game will be able to replicate the feeling this game gave me back then - if only i could experience it for the first time again.
The first months of this game, back when Save the World was called Fortnite and Fortnite was called Battle Royale, were so special. It was unlike anything the world had ever seen. It was so conflicting, in a good way too. It was cartoony, yet serious. It was beautiful, yet uneasy. It was something to truly behold. OG Fortnite will go down as a timeless masterpiece, and as one of the greatest games ever made.

Music major here! I looked up the score for this piece to help explain why it gives ya that FEEL. So like most normal pieces that our ears are comfortable with, it centers around the I, IV, and V chords (which in E major, the key of this piece, are E-G#-B, A-C#-E, and B-D#-F#, respectively). HOWEVER. This song does something very unusual. While the core of it is those comfortable chords, it throws in WEIRD notes that not only don't belong to those chords, they don't even belong to the key of E major, or any key that is closely related to it, such as B major (its dominant) or C# minor (its relative minor). This creates a distinct sense of something slightly wrong within the normalcy. When it goes back to a normal chord with no crazy chromatic notes, it feels like you've found peace from a strange uncomfortable thing. For that kind of powerful relief to occur, the music must first make you feel powerful unease and discomfort, before fixing it. Cool stuff, man. I despise fortnite but this music is legit.

I remember when my friend and I would build big bases late game and made it not too tall, we had a rule where it was brick on the outside and build wood on the inside so the outside was stronger. Also being the first to the big mountains to make the bases, having an advantage over everyone. If I were to have spent money ever since the game came out I would be less sad about the OG days being gone. I' played since Before there even were season or leveling up. Just in the lobby it was lobby leader boards and stats. I have the battle bus banner, mako glider, ride the pony and wave but it just isn't enough. I knew if I were to buy the battle pass to get extra daily challenges I could've easily maxed out my battle pass, or at least have gotten sparkle specialist. I feel so stupid for getting Fifa, which is a dead game instead of getting vbucks for christmas. I've always had the money to even just buy a $10 gift card but my stupid head would always buy food, and now I'm sad and fat, which isn't good. I remember when Friendly fire was enable and when my cousin and I would go up against another 2 players, there were no such things as build battles, so it was just a stand off, i would always be in the back and my cousin in the front, so when we would crossover from one side to another, I would always spray him. I remeber landing flush or lonely was the wave so when I landed there and won the game in duos, I would always lane there in hopes of a solo win. Now, one year later, this game hasn't evolved well, many kids are tryhard for a win, they will drain every mat and ammo just for one kill, and when they get owned they will slander you and this isn't what the game is about. I remember when buying anything didn't matter so I didn't care that much, but now I buy everything that was rare but came back, because all the old items from the shop just look way better, I recently bought commando and ranger because they were from the OG days and they look so good, now all the skins make no sense for the battle royale theme. Even if I just bought save the world back then, I would probably have enough vbucks to buy and least the nog ops and season 2 battle pass,. I hope Epic does some sort of appreciation for the OGs who couldn't buy the battle pass back then. and maybe rerelease only for the OGs to treasure, Christmas time is coming and I hope Epic is in the Christmas spirit and giving spirit to do stuff like that for all OGs like me who were free users back then. I feel Epic changed the music to protect us OGs, because they knew the music ment alot, so they decided to change the music so it would be a memory in our heart forever. 2 of my friends have renegade raider and I just wish I was as smart as them to spend money on the game so early on. This music was just to make you have a good time and I guess Epic felt the same way as season 3 rolled along, tryhards started entering and ruining the game, and now that so many tryhards are bad, Epic needs to put useless and over powered items to please the trash tryhards. I hope for when the red nosed raider and Crackshot come back out (leaks say they will) that they release it for only OG's. I wish we could go back season (only people who played during them) to relive or purchase the battle pass for that season. Just I hope they have OG people backs and do something kind for us free users who have played since the start of this game.

Well I had the luck to get the sparkle specialist. But now, 1 year later I have nothing left. I had to make a new psn and now I can’t reconnect my Epic Games to it. All my OG items, memories, everything gone. I hope they fix this because those were the only things that really remembered me of S2. The good old days

so here we are, 7 years later? Jeez, Fortnite will always hold a deep spot in my heart I'll never forget my first win in season 1, such a crazy feeling then, now just a faint memory. Kinda miss when this was just a fun game without really any story or purpose, was just kinda a side project to try and get STW popular. I've played every season apart from season 0, I never quit once, as much crazy things were added and crossovers and whatnot that there were, no season compares to peak chapter one, I think peak Fortnite was in chapter 1, nothing beats it, even in other video games. Everything feels so empty without Donald Mustard. Miss you old fortnite, I just want to go back in time, to a simpler time, no covid, no politics, no war, nothing, just having fun trying this new fortnite game, playing duos with my cousins and friends was just an out of world feeling. I hope this is one of the first things i see when i die, og fortnite😭🙏

The sad part is we all want the old Fortnite back. But the harsh reality is that will never happen. Even if they brought back the old map, the og music, old items, old textures and graphics. The 9 year olds that think they can get in the World Cup will still remain. Its just hard to accept that, old Fortnite, is gone forever. The game that was once my favourite, gone forever and evolved into something else. But atleast we can remember the good old days. And thank epic for what we had, whether is was long lasting or not.

I dont love the new map and skill based matchmaking and all the other things but, I just want to thank Epic for making this game. I have grown as a person while playing this game. Fortnites design became more and more realistic look at chapter 5 it's literally based on old Europe. I wish it still had that angular and slightly odd design like the old fridge and ATM that was iconic

It's funny because I've been studying to this track and even sleeping and I just now decided to check the comments. Reading this and the replys has really made me think about the laughs I've had with my friends. The accidental team kills, falling off the mountain, and stealing my friend's loot from a chest. I remember making one of the abandoned houses in the middle of now where a fort with electro traps with my friend then laughing when we see we are out of the circle. I think the reason Fortnite has had yet another resurgence is because people miss it. Behind Minecraft, Fortnite has to be the best game ever. People have their own nostalgia trips with Minecraft, black ops 1, and sometimes I try plugging in my ps3 to get into a modern warfare 2 lobby knowing that it won't work and I won't hear people yelling at each other over a riot shield ever again. People have their waves of coming back to Fortnite because they miss the game and they have a sliver of hope that if they open it up and play one more time they might hear the old music and dusty depot might be back. Music is so powerful and is amazing in what it does with our emotions that's why I'm putting so much into this comment is because as I'm up late studying listening to old Fortnite music I get the flashback of all the good times I've had with this game and I still check every season to see if the old map or old soundtrack returned. I'm sorry if this doesn't really make sense but I just wanted to get my thought on it out. Thank you to everyone that takes the time to read this. 😁
Fortnite was the game back then that just made everyone happy. there wasn't really a toxic community, the pros weren't even that good compared to nowadays, and everything was just fun. the old map, shopping cart ramps, even quadcrashers. it really makes me so sad to see it go. I thought I was just having fun and that it would last forever. but now look at what we have. thirsty kids using all of their mats just to do a tik tok dance after they win by editing 1000 times. I miss finding defaults behind a tree, and I even gave one a win when it was a 1v1 with one. to all the people who started season 4 and below, you played an amazing game that will come to make many memories.
Then: good music, good community and very clean Now: bad music, stupid community and messy with no updates I would prefer Fortnite to be inspired by apex to do map rotation so one place is peaceful and the other is chaotic so everyone can prefer one or another

Blame it on capitalism's scaly hand for dazing the developers with a few million dollars and changing the gaming universe's best action-building hybrid shooter into a crappy rage-game from every perspective (I mean the metas in BR, the hero system in STW, and of course, the lobby music in both).
IKR the only good music we get from Fortnite now is from in game missions of STW and sometimes the music packs from BR. Epic did an oopsie removing this theme...

For some reason...every time i hear this i get a flashback to season 2, when i was a default and never got v-bucks. Fortnite was actually fun when there was not many sweaty try hards, people barely knew how to build in season 2, the battle bus was festive and had like a big Santa balloon. There was the old SMG, the common pump, the purple tac. the scar kind of sounded different back then too. when getting a victory Royale kind of meant something back then, this game wasn’t really competitive back then if i remember, the old factories, dusty depot, retail row, greasy groove, old tilted, the race track next to moisty mire, moisty mire, the prison in moisty mire, anarchy acres, risky reels, wailing woods, that little landscape that was there before tilted. All the other stuff as well, wall dynamo and electric ceiling trap, and when you could stack 10 mini’s (which was probably not season 2 but whatever) nowadays there’s neo tilted, combat shotgun, mega mall, etc.
Even I as a player who started late to the game (season 9) I could totally feel you. Somehow, enjoyment comes out of yourself in my opinion. I started last season in July. Got my first Victory Royale in 4 attempts, which I'm happy with (solo). I played like everyone back then, no sweating or tryharding. How stupid this may sound to some people, but I'm all in to go back in the old days with the current patch notes so there are barely any bad glitches and a good framerate. I'm not a fan of the riftzones. They should have given the old parts back like how they were. Many people want this, Epic Games knows this and hence it's somewhat coming back to the game. The current map doesn't make sense to me. From snow to the desert in a matter of minutes. I prefer the map to be green and clean, again like how it used to be. I'm happy I reached Tier 50 and got myself this song in-game, which I will never change again. Also, the fast pace gameplay should just be in Arena mode for those who want it, I'm not in favor. I prefer the slow pace building, making the game live up to its old days when you built Forts to protect yourself like a castle, nowadays it's doing sweaty 90's. I still enjoy the game and love Epic for the game they made, but some classic changes and maintaining those would be absolutely splendid.
It miss it even more every day that goes by. Rest in peace fortnite you will not be forgotten, and we will never forget all the happy and fun memories you brought to our lives. I teared up just listening to this nostalgic music.

The statement "The calm before the storm" is so accurate. This music gives you nostalgia for the game before It became so popular, nostalgia during the "calm before the storm" period of the game. Even though it isn't intended to mean that, it still does honestly.
i tried falling asleep to this, but this song has such a special place in my heart the memories and love i have for this game just came rushing into my mind. this game has given me so much memories and happiness. i wish i could go back in time for just one day and play this game how its meant to be played.

so here we are, 7 years later? Jeez, Fortnite will always hold a deep spot in my heart I'll never forget my first win in season 1, such a crazy feeling then, now just a faint memory. Kinda miss when this was just a fun game without really any story or purpose, was just kinda a side project to try and get STW popular. I've played every season apart from season 0, I never quit once, as much crazy things were added and crossovers and whatnot that there were, no season compares to peak chapter one, I think peak Fortnite was in chapter 1, nothing beats it, even in other video games. Everything feels so empty without Donald Mustard. Miss you old fortnite, I just want to go back in time, to a simpler time, no covid, no politics, no war, nothing, just having fun trying this new fortnite game, playing duos with my cousins and friends was just an out of world feeling. I hope this is one of the first things i see when i die, og fortnite😭🙏

The sad part is we all want the old Fortnite back. But the harsh reality is that will never happen. Even if they brought back the old map, the og music, old items, old textures and graphics. The 9 year olds that think they can get in the World Cup will still remain. Its just hard to accept that, old Fortnite, is gone forever. The game that was once my favourite, gone forever and evolved into something else. But atleast we can remember the good old days. And thank epic for what we had, whether is was long lasting or not.

Fortnites design became more and more realistic look at chapter 5 it's literally based on old Europe. I wish it still had that angular and slightly odd design like the old fridge and ATM that was iconic

It's funny because I've been studying to this track and even sleeping and I just now decided to check the comments. Reading this and the replys has really made me think about the laughs I've had with my friends. The accidental team kills, falling off the mountain, and stealing my friend's loot from a chest. I remember making one of the abandoned houses in the middle of now where a fort with electro traps with my friend then laughing when we see we are out of the circle. I think the reason Fortnite has had yet another resurgence is because people miss it. Behind Minecraft, Fortnite has to be the best game ever. People have their own nostalgia trips with Minecraft, black ops 1, and sometimes I try plugging in my ps3 to get into a modern warfare 2 lobby knowing that it won't work and I won't hear people yelling at each other over a riot shield ever again. People have their waves of coming back to Fortnite because they miss the game and they have a sliver of hope that if they open it up and play one more time they might hear the old music and dusty depot might be back. Music is so powerful and is amazing in what it does with our emotions that's why I'm putting so much into this comment is because as I'm up late studying listening to old Fortnite music I get the flashback of all the good times I've had with this game and I still check every season to see if the old map or old soundtrack returned. I'm sorry if this doesn't really make sense but I just wanted to get my thought on it out. Thank you to everyone that takes the time to read this. 😁

Fortnite was the game back then that just made everyone happy. there wasn't really a toxic community, the pros weren't even that good compared to nowadays, and everything was just fun. the old map, shopping cart ramps, even quadcrashers. it really makes me so sad to see it go. I thought I was just having fun and that it would last forever. but now look at what we have. thirsty kids using all of their mats just to do a tik tok dance after they win by editing 1000 times. I miss finding defaults behind a tree, and I even gave one a win when it was a 1v1 with one. to all the people who started season 4 and below, you played an amazing game that will come to make many memories.

Blame it on capitalism's scaly hand for dazing the developers with a few million dollars and changing the gaming universe's best action-building hybrid shooter into a crappy rage-game from every perspective (I mean the metas in BR, the hero system in STW, and of course, the lobby music in both).
IKR the only good music we get from Fortnite now is from in game missions of STW and sometimes the music packs from BR. Epic did an oopsie removing this theme...

I remember how excited I was when I first saw that victory royale pop up on my screen. My body was shaking and my face filled with joy. I instantly jumped up out of my chair screaming I'm the best because I felt like I could do anything.

For some reason...every time i hear this i get a flashback to season 2, when i was a default and never got v-bucks. Fortnite was actually fun when there was not many sweaty try hards, people barely knew how to build in season 2, the battle bus was festive and had like a big Santa balloon. There was the old SMG, the common pump, the purple tac. the scar kind of sounded different back then too. when getting a victory Royale kind of meant something back then, this game wasn’t really competitive back then if i remember, the old factories, dusty depot, retail row, greasy groove, old tilted, the race track next to moisty mire, moisty mire, the prison in moisty mire, anarchy acres, risky reels, wailing woods, that little landscape that was there before tilted. All the other stuff as well, wall dynamo and electric ceiling trap, and when you could stack 10 mini’s (which was probably not season 2 but whatever) nowadays there’s neo tilted, combat shotgun, mega mall, etc.

Even I as a player who started late to the game (season 9) I could totally feel you. Somehow, enjoyment comes out of yourself in my opinion. I started last season in July. Got my first Victory Royale in 4 attempts, which I'm happy with (solo). I played like everyone back then, no sweating or tryharding. How stupid this may sound to some people, but I'm all in to go back in the old days with the current patch notes so there are barely any bad glitches and a good framerate. I'm not a fan of the riftzones. They should have given the old parts back like how they were. Many people want this, Epic Games knows this and hence it's somewhat coming back to the game. The current map doesn't make sense to me. From snow to the desert in a matter of minutes. I prefer the map to be green and clean, again like how it used to be. I'm happy I reached Tier 50 and got myself this song in-game, which I will never change again. Also, the fast pace gameplay should just be in Arena mode for those who want it, I'm not in favor. I prefer the slow pace building, making the game live up to its old days when you built Forts to protect yourself like a castle, nowadays it's doing sweaty 90's. I still enjoy the game and love Epic for the game they made, but some classic changes and maintaining those would be absolutely splendid.
