I was shook. Seeing Captain America killing someone who just screamed : " It wasn't me". Then the shield full of blood. I kept gasping. I could not take that imagery, it was brutal.
walker's biggest problem is thinking he gets to have all the accessories that comes with being captain america, but sam and bucky aren't accessories and since he didn't fight with the avengers or know any of steve's friends, everyone is rightfully giving him the side eye - even the dora milaje is looking at him crazy cause they knew who steve was which is why they chose to help, the parrallels between steve and john are very similar but going down 2 different roads.
The blood on the shield is actually a representative to what he is, brutal, willing to kill. Which is different to Steve, who rarely killed on missions. The blood also shows how much he is different from Steve
I don't understand why many people thought Zemo would take a serum for himself. He doesn't want supersoldiers to exist and would definitely not want to take one for his own. I feel like that would have been out of character. I understand that his character has been retconned heavily for this series but taking the serum would be a huge flip that if he did, he would be a whole different character. Unless there was a flashback of him changing his views, but judging from how he described the super-soldier serum as they were talking inside the apartment his still the same person.
It was a smart move by Marvel to give the shield first to John Walker because we all know that the MCU fans will somehow hate (or be indifferent towards) the next person to hold the title after Steve. This series made us want for a better person to hold the shield and thereby fully accept the departure of Steve from the MCU by showing us the contrast of Sam being the good man and John, the perfect soldier.
This was such a fantastic episode. It really showed that while John Walker might be a great soldier, he's not necessarily the best man. Wyatt Russell said in an interview that Walker is marine and they're much more grey, rough and not super clean. He said when Walker is given a job, his goal is to fulfill that job by any means possible, how he does it doesn't matter as that's what he was taught as a marine. And he looks at being as Captain America as another job. So while he may want to live up to being that symbol, he feels inadequate and the only way he knows how to do it, is to fall back on his marine training and how he has operated as a marine. Walker is such a complex character and I love all of the layers this show has given him. He's much more sympathetic in the show than in the comics. This shows has done a fantastic job in creating complex characters in Bucky, Sam, Zemo, Karli and Walker.
Karli wouldn't have surrendered to Sam's custody. She's a fanatic. At best the conversation would have ended with a 'it's not too late to join us' from her, and a 'the next time we meet it will be as enemies' type situation. But Sam had to try - just like Steve would have (and it DID provide time for the innocent bystanders to leave - worth it for that alone). Remember, she *immediately* resorted to threatening Sam's family to continue their conversation 'alone' and says she was going to try and recruit him. She's all in at this point. Walker busting in did not help in the slightest and contributed to the escalation later that led to Lamar's death- but it didn't 'ruin' an arrest that was never going to happen.
@@TheMovieCouple Oooooo that would be amazing! Quick question tho: Did John Walker think HE had Jurisdiction where they where more so than the Dora Milaje? The Episode had a direct beginning and end in motion from the opening scene...good episode
John and Lamar are actually off the books this episode. If you remember last episode John convinced Lamar that they’d have to go against protocol if they were gonna catch up to Sam and Bucky
This brings to the front so many needed conversations. That you are an excellent soldier, doesn't automatically makes you the best "police". Two different trainings and objectives. JW feels the pressure of the medals but doesn't understand that his mission is to deescalate, prevent and stop. Fight can't be the first option.
I have the feeling that Karli Morgenthau's actions are being played down a little too much. She blew up a car and killed innocent people in the process. Then she threatened Sam's sister and her children. It has nothing to do with John Walker. I think it's a bit unfair to blame him for it.
oh don't worry there are many people who like john walker who are over emphasising karli's violence. there are both extremes, and ofc people in the middle who see everyone's flaws and triumphs. (by the way love ur raya pfp 💖)
@@aisha02a A personal perception but I haven't seen anyone who likes john walker. I don't like him myself either. I can understand why he sometimes does something, but I think he does it wrong. He's too impatient, aggressive and cares too much about the title of Captain America. But that has nothing to do with Karli Morgenthau. If she kills or threatens someone, it is she who is responsible, not someone else. I think Raya is a great film.
@@legacy-sc7qw He was personally chosen to be Captain America. Of course he cares about the title. Who wouldn't? Now, let's say that Sam hadn't been able to talk Karli down and John's superiors find out that she escaped because he let Sam go in there alone to talk to her. This is the same girl that has had no problem killing multiple innocent people, which makes Sam's idea the dumbest idea ever in the real world. Would you want to be the one to have to explain how it happened to your bosses? Cut John a break.
The thing with the serum is that it enhances everything even a persons personality. For Steve it was mostly possitive, but even he had a few pitfalls. Namely he whole "We don't trade lives." and "We can do it better." mentallity. This is what eventually doomed the universe and the Avengers respectively. For Walker he has way more negative traits than Steve had, so with him having taken the serum it all got enhanced, but with Lamar's death his rage and murderous intent took the front seat so to speak.
But wasn't that only in regards to the original serum which Red Skull used and possibly the new one? The entire thing about Steve is that he was always willing to do what's right. Even when he was scrawny dude that didn't stop him so I don't think his stubbornness was because of the serum.
@@NoMustang273 The serum that the Red Skull used was the same as the one Steve used. Red Skull had way more negative traits compared to Steve and that corrupted him. As for Steve's stubornness, it was not caused by the serum, but it did enhance it just like everything else got enhanced. This is probably also the reason way Steve had such trouble adapting to the 21st century.

I love how Zemo again succeeded at doing what he wanted to do. In civil war, he wanted the avengers to fall apart and he did it. Now, he wanted the serums and the person who did the serums gone. He killed the doctor and destroyed the serums. He never gives up on his mission. We also still got some details like his son liking turkish delight a lot so he always has some with him. It reminds of the tragedy of his past and makes me respect him more. P.S. I am a Turk sooo turkish delight IS the best!
The only that wasn’t said in Walker’s statement about the serum and in the conversation with battestar is that it wasn’t easy for Steve. He got smacked around a lot. His credo about “I can do this all day”and Erskine’s line about better to be a good man then a good soldier is why Steve will always be a better Captain America than Walker.
The Dore Milaj may not be "super-soldiers" but they ARE Wakanda's elite guard and they ARE trained from childhood in combat. That makes a big difference.
@Jimbo Bimbo well ppl better watch the tv shows. I hope you realize the tv shows isn’t just a one off and they’re actually important to the MCU. Wandavison literally jumps off the phase 4 and so does Falcon and Winter soldier
@Jimbo Bimbo yea I know. I’m referring to you saying that John Walker won’t show up in movies because ppl don’t watch the tv shows. I’m saying that has nothing to do with whether he will or not because it’s been plenty that has happened so far in these show that will carry over into the movies. For example Monica Rambeau getting older and getting powers, and she’s showing up in the new Capt Marvel movie
@Jimbo Bimbo Marvel explicitly told people though that future movies won't make sense without having seen the shows. So those who skip the shows are out of luck.

LOL I love how the Dora will fight anyone at anytime
call back to cap vs iron man in civil war. Steve was going to smash tony just like John Walker did but Steve pulled it back to disable iron man armour with shield instead. Also knife flippery from winter soldier.
I don't understand why sooo many people keep thinking that Zemo is going to take the super soldier serum, when his whole thing is getting rid of super soldiers. How could you possibly think otherwise?
This shows Lamarr was his moral compass keeping him on track. Without Lamarr there was nothing keep his angry attitude in check. You add the serum to that and you have a recipe for disaster!
As smart as Walker is supposed to be, you’d think he would’ve studied about the superheroes and their world. He doesn’t know who any of there people are or how things work in this world and as Captain America he should. But he acts like he can just walk in an control stuff because he put on a costume and carries the shield. That’s not how it works. Captain America isn’t a job title, it’s a personification. He’s not it and definitely hasn’t earned the respect he so desperately wants. Can’t even give him the benefit of the doubt anymore. He’s not just unworthy, he’s unstable.
In terms of how relatable a lot of the themes this show has shown so far in the first three episodes, it’ll be interesting the see the parallels of John Walker’s actions will be portrayed. I’m just feeling the poignancy of it especially since the recent George Floyd trial.
The ending scene where he got the bloodied shield, you can see his left hand twitching. I do not hate him, I pity him bec he is trying his best to fill in the role but all he gets is humiliation, pressure and bad decisions. What I do hate is the government xD
Intro scene was incredible! I also have a feeling that General Ross is the power broker as he's always involved with working on the serum but I could be wrong!
Question: When Zemo had Karli pinned, why were you saying "Oh no" when she dropped the serum and "She better not die." She car bombed a building & killed unarmed prisoners. And Sam & Bucky are trying to prevent more Super Soldiers from being created so destroying the serum is good.
i would think that Walker and Hoskins had no backup because they went on this on their own, as Walker said last episode that the government won't care how they got the problem sorted if they do it and that they will follow Sam and Bucky. I feel like they went under the radar, especially because you have that scene before when they have the "army" with them in the van.
Wow, what an opening!! _"You are free."_ Ayo speaking those words were so comforting, far stronger words than the ones he was brainwashed by. And to see Bucky's doubt, trauma, anger, hurt, all shatter... then joy in his breakthrough - the relief. 👏🏾 Loved this episode, I feel like I say that with every episode. I might have let out a loud excited "YES!!!" at 3 in the morning when the title "Wakanda" appeared on the screen lol. (I love everything Black Panther / Wakanda-related you can probably tell lol) There was so much packed into this episode and well-executed. Bucky and Sam basically eating popcorn watching Walker embarrass himself in front the Dora Milaje was me. Then versus these badass women, like, why would you do that to yourself. I was so frustrated & annoyed with Walker throughout this episode especially when I knew he'd ruin the one-on-one talk with Karli and Sam. It was slowly building, then escalated to the point of no returning; only a matter of time. Already on a power trip AND now juiced up.. can't be good. Interesting to see where he goes from here. Zemo being Zemo, escaping (again). Great reaction! Can't wait to listen to more of y'all thoughts and discussion for Movie Couple Live.
That contrast between the opening and ending scene... wow! So much hope and the idea of redemption, and then we’re left feeling the complete opposite at the end
One of the first things they establish about John is that he isn’t really following anyone else’s orders. He’s not reporting back to anyone, at least not so we see. I think him doing all this without adequate backup is HIS choice and due to his arrogance.
20:55 "It's Zemo. When he does something, I'm like: "Yeah, that's sounds about right." LOL I love how Zemo's getting to Batman levels of suspension of disbelief.

Then i realized it was a mixture of both grief at al the things he couldnt help under mind control and all the blood and lives he took, but also overwhelming relief at the fact that now, he never has to be afraid of those triggers ever again. Sebastian Stan's acting in that scene? God DAMN, it was powerful! And then he started laughing, and I jsut wanted to give him a clap on the shoulder like Steve would and say to him "It's gonna be okay, Buck."
This show kills it with every episode! It'll probably sour some of the fanbase when I say this....but Im enjoying this a lot more than Wandavision!
I don’t know why people have to compare the shows.. they are both great, different, yet the same people we came to love.
There's nothing wrong with getting more emotionally invested in one show over another. That's way we all have faves! You obviously acknowledge that both shows are good. I am enjoying this series a lot more than I expected to and I'm falling deeply in love with the Sam and Bucky duo!
@@clarissathompson exactly, its possible to have a favorite Star Wars movie while just like its possible to have a fave marvel movie, tv show, etc. Comparisons and preferences are inevitable.
@@lindaouellette6656 you're not wrong. :)
The parallel of walker putting the shield over his head was reminiscent of cap in civil war fighting tony
Seeing blood on the shield really hurt my heart in a way that I did not expect. I just couldn't believe that I was seeing that.
To be fair Walker said he was going “off book”, so I’m not surprised he didn’t have backup against the super soliders.
Lemar "dying" and Walker "killing" that man almost made me burst out in tears.
That's why mcu is always right about their HEROES representation
I don't understand why many people thought Zemo would take a serum for himself. He doesn't want supersoldiers to exist and would definitely not want to take one for his own. I feel like that would have been out of character. I understand that his character has been retconned heavily for this series but taking the serum would be a huge flip that if he did, he would be a whole different character. Unless there was a flashback of him changing his views, but judging from how he described the super-soldier serum as they were talking inside the apartment his still the same person.
I'm pretty sure zemo only dipped because he knew the dora milaje would win, and he did NOT want to be put in prison in wakanda lol
THIS IS MY FAV. EPISODE SO FAR
I started smiling so wide when Wendy said she wanted to see Wakanda but they probably weren't going there
When Bucky name-dropped Shuri, I was like, "I know we're not ever seeing her in this show, but CAN WE PLEASE?"
Exactly! This is such a good point..
John snapping and killing that dude was such a highlight!!
Aw, I have never wanted to hug poor Bucky more than in this episode! Great reaction and breakdown, folks! Thanks!
Story idea!: A show about the Doramalaje ? (I dont know how to spell it :P) That was freaking amazing i want more of them!
I believe they're working on a series based on Wakanda so there will definitely be more Dora Milaje on screen in the future.
@@TheMovieCouple Oooooo that would be amazing! Quick question tho: Did John Walker think HE had Jurisdiction where they where more so than the Dora Milaje? The Episode had a direct beginning and end in motion from the opening scene...good episode
@@ashleypenhall7949 John just thinks he's Captain America, the "Superhero" who fights baddies no matter where they are.
Wyatt russell is playing his character so good
that bucky scene actually made me cry so kudos to sebastian
@@misspriss2482
I mean something like at the beginning of episode 3 when he yells at the guy "do you know who I am".
Who is to say that if Bucky was killed like that if Steve wouldn't snap?
@@BmoreAkuma Steve thought Bucky died. What do you mean? And he still continued fighting for what he believed in
But wasn't that only in regards to the original serum which Red Skull used and possibly the new one? The entire thing about Steve is that he was always willing to do what's right. Even when he was scrawny dude that didn't stop him so I don't think his stubbornness was because of the serum.
@@BmoreAkuma Bucky wasn't Steve's moral compass though. He wasn't reliant on him. Steve would be pissed but not snap
4:04 Same 😭😭😭 im sobbing watching the scene, and Sebastian and Wyatt's acting in this episode, Uuhhh theeeee best, Great actors 💗 BTW great reaction guys👌🏼
Remember Zemo DOES NOT like Super Soldiers so he would never take the serum himself
By far the best episode. I hope they don't kill John Walker at the end. He could be an awesome antihero/villain for captain america(hopely that's Sam)
Feels like the episodes keep getting better.
@Jimbo Bimbo well ppl better watch the tv shows. I hope you realize the tv shows isn’t just a one off and they’re actually important to the MCU. Wandavison literally jumps off the phase 4 and so does Falcon and Winter soldier
@Jimbo Bimbo you don't know US agent and the Thunderbolts?
@Jimbo Bimbo yea I know. I’m referring to you saying that John Walker won’t show up in movies because ppl don’t watch the tv shows. I’m saying that has nothing to do with whether he will or not because it’s been plenty that has happened so far in these show that will carry over into the movies. For example Monica Rambeau getting older and getting powers, and she’s showing up in the new Capt Marvel movie
@Jimbo Bimbo Marvel explicitly told people though that future movies won't make sense without having seen the shows. So those who skip the shows are out of luck.

@@elmercox1035 nah, you don't touch someone w/o their permission, esp someone you don't know, ESP a soldier in uniform. they were only there for Zemo, their king's killer, & Walker got in the way with his condescension about 'jurisdiction' & 'pointy sticks' & touching her. Walker deserved it atp & Bucky wasn't gonna let them go too far
I like you both because you both are well versed enough to accurately predict storylines, but are humble enough to enjoy them when they happen! Keep it up guys.
Wendy, your instincts about things that are coming are so accurate, it's scary!!!! I love listening to you guys!!!
And just like that, John Walker became my favorite character in the show, that was awesome
Watching you guys say what you're looking forward to beforehand is a trip. Nailed a lot of it.
The guy Walker killed had a scene earlier where he said that he was a Captain America fan when he was younger.
The Dora are amazing. I love them. Especially Ayo. She’s so intimidating and everytime she speaks I feel like I need to obey lol. Walker is trash. He’s so entitled. How can he have the audacity to think he should put down the shield to give Sam a fair fight? Then he was shocked he lost to the Dora who “aren’t even super soldiers” lol like what is a super soldier to an Wakandan when America has outdated science?
That is was very interesting episode in the falcon and the winter sodlier!
We can not be mad or hate john walker
"I don't judge people on their worst mistakes"~natasha
Yesss like he is a good person he just making mistakes.
Captain America (Steve Rogers) Fan killed by Captain America (John Walker).

"No-ah" - Wendy's version of 'no' 🤣🤣🤣 Great reaction guys!
Lolol
That contrast between the opening and ending scene... wow! So much hope and the idea of redemption, and then we’re left feeling the complete opposite at the end
One of the first things they establish about John is that he isn’t really following anyone else’s orders. He’s not reporting back to anyone, at least not so we see. I think him doing all this without adequate backup is HIS choice and due to his arrogance.
12:30 she really knew how to disarm him. 😊
