If you asked Klayton (Celdweller), he would prolly call his music "industrial metal" or some such, but i think everything hes done for the last 20'ish years could easiily be called "Cyberpunk". It's a similar story with "Alien Vampires" the last 10 years, although they're admittedly themed more towards the diabolical rather than the dysantopian undertones that would define anything called Cyberpunk today. An even earlier artist with a proper"Cyberpunk" feel is Trent Reznor (Nine Inch Nails), bar the technical and futuristic, he sure has the darkness part covered (especially in the late 90's/early 00's). When you're covered by Johnny Cash, you know you struck the E-string the right way. Billy Idol did release an album called "Cyberpunk" in the eearlky 90's but apart from the name and the dark lyrics and interludes, the music wasn't exactly "heavy" or "dirty". When William Gibson, the author of "Neuromancer" (first book in the brilliant "Sprawl"-series) who invented the word "Cyberpunk" narrated his own book, the music included to set the atmosphere was a sort of heavy reggae dub-mix with lots of reverb ... but that was in the 80's. Sega released a game in 1993 called "Iron Helix", the score was made by "Xorcist" and is available on Spotify ... that was the first time i heard what i would define as "Cyberpunk" and it sounds a lot like the slow, dirty techno beats that most people call "Cyberpunk" 27 years later =)
The genre was invented by William Gibson, been around since the 80's which at the time it was very underground. It started to surface in the 90's but by 2010's maybe late 010's it got to the point you couldn't swing a lanky toy without being able to point it out. Musically speaking there are a variety of electro, metal and hip-hop genres applied to it, generally, in the thematically direct to harsher and more hardcore sounds, the softest is usually synth. And just a correction on the 'dystopian' part, dystopian in some contexts people put suggests life in Cyberpunk is like the Nazi regime or Nero's Rome, that isn't the case, Cyberpunk dystopia is more socially oriented dystopia. I often felt most industrial artists depicted something like Dark City or The Equilibrium or maybe even The Hunger Games, and mostly because of Resident Evil a sort of bio-hazard apocalypse. Just what I gathered, not saying I'm in the 'diehard fan club' where I know everything and have all the ideas about how the genre 'properly' works but that's the vibe it gives me.
Hey, man just wanted to say thank you for this music., I have ADHD and always have a hard time concentrating on school work, but your beats seem to like hyper focus my brain for some reason.... long story short you're music is literally getting me through my masters degree. Cheers Mate
Its because you are allowing other thought processes to fire in the background in an organized way instead of letting the mind wander aimlessly. This gives the ADD brain something to chew on. Another thing that will help is playing with a stress ball or fidgit toy while doing what you need to do. It is the first step in harnessing the superpower of ADD. When used right it can put you steps ahead in learning ability.
New standard in music? It's electronic music and been around for a long time. DnB, EDM, etc that's what you're hearing here... look into them if you're interested.

woah the new youtube feature where you can put the song names embedded into the timeline is amazing
Wait what, I don't see it, how do you enable it?
@@CockatooDude Might be desktop only?
@@nopatterns5837 I am using the desktop version of RUclips.

Cyberpunk is a genre I have waited to come for a long time
Actually it's been around for quite awhile.
Unless u mean the techno themed music?
@@Strippz na not techno, just the cyberpunk style, its properly formed into a genre, just taken a few years to get there :P

Extra terra is still top cyberpunk musician on my eyes! These mix’s get played when I’m roaming night city !
I haven't started Cyberpunk 2077 yet, but if this is what I'm bumping while blazing through Night City, I'm all here for it! Best acid mix I've heard!
It's like, disco cyber funk. What dubstep pioneered. What trance introduced us to. Then, throw in some hard house vibe and ya got cyberpunk.
@20:09 is that 🔥 I've waited 30 years of my existence for this type of music
Doom 2016, Eternal and Cyberpunk 2077 = B A D A S S
i want this song playing in the background as i sit on my throne of dismantled cyborgs in a back alley fight club.
That sounds about right lol
Someone please get this Gal a GoFundMe started I will contribute.
