  • This super fast setup and tear down tent from Magellan will add tons of ease to your camping. 60s and your up and ready. Tear down is equally fast.
    The Magellan SwiftRise 4 person Hub Tent is the easiest setup and tear down tent of its size that I have tried. It does great in windy conditions and has nice integrated led lighting. It has a similar style and size as the Gazelle T4.
    From bag to setup in about 60 seconds!
    It’s 6.5 feet tall in the center and 7.8 feet wide. So easy to stand and move around in.
    It packs down to a largish 7.8 ft long so consider how your going to transport it.
    Pick it up at Academy Sports.

    A tip that will probably help the door zipper issue. Have everything zipped closed before you stake it down. This will prevent you from slightly over stretching the door openings.

    I have the 8 person version and I like it more and more. Only downside is no replacement parts after warranty. But fully taped seams, solid in wind with guy lines staked. Additional vents and pvc windows over gazelle. Rain fly doesn’t flap in wind, better quality stakes stock. More pockets, better room divider on my 8 person, bigger door, led lights. It’s great value

      We looked at the 8 person, it was very nice, but as my older kids like to "spread out", got them a 3 person hub and a 4 person for us. So far so good, but we have only had it for a short time. Like the Academy return policy, we tried another Magellan first, it setup fast, but wasn't hub based and flapped badly in the wind.

    I got got in some unpredicted high winds at Kerr Lake my last night & through the morning. I nearly lost it taking it down. I learned quickly leave bottom stakes in & take out as you fold it up. I camp alone and would have been heartbroken to have watched my new tent destroyed!!
    Another thing, the vents in the rainfly, opened helped create an even nicer breeze at night!
    I haven't had any moisture/water in the tent even with rainfly off. Overall love it . . . Great windows but I'm a little concerned about the 2 vinyl ones. The interior lighting a true bonus!!!
    Happy camping!! ⛺️

      Agreed on the stakes, in first, out last. We like the vent in the rainfly too, though occasionally we think some rain manages to sneak though it.

      @@spinfamtravels9057 did you waterproof spray it? I just got mine & do plan to seam seal it, but with the report of water seeping in, maybe I’ll consider using some waterproofing spray & definitely will use a tarp underneath. I bought this brand tent because I could go to the Academy store and pick it up right away. Obviously many of us are probably buying these because the setup is very quick. However, my only major issue is the floor was wet after sleeping it in the first night on grass. Did you guys have that issue? I don’t know if I should return it and buy the gazelle or just add a tarp underneath. I just wanted the easiest setup possible. I appreciated your video. What are your thoughts after using it a few nights?

    • @spinfamtravels9057
      @spinfamtravels9057  3 года назад +1

      We have only used ours once so far, set it up in grass for 2 days with on/off rain, no tarp or anything under it. I did not notice any water on the floor, except at the entrance where it would come in off the door when it opened. I was planning on getting a mesh tarp to put under it, but have not yet.

    • @jacobg9867
      @jacobg9867 3 года назад +5

      I have a Gazelle T4 and T3 and always lay down a tarp regardless. Protects the floor from punctures and cleanliness at the very least, I would recommend the same for those reasons.
      In regards to water intrusion. I’m not sure. If you put a tarp down, the rain will collect on the tarp and sit between the tarp and tent floor. It would be similar to it being without a tarp.
      With that in mind, first thing I do when I get a new tent and continue annually after is coat the outside surfaces in the waterproof spray. Can be found in any camping oriented store.

    would you consider camping in this tent on days above 85 degrees?

    • @yoyomom1
      @yoyomom1 3 года назад +1

      It has a lot of windows, so if there’s a good breeze & dry air. I set mine up in the 85 degree temps today w/high humidity & it was pretty stuffy inside, but there was zero breeze & I had the rain fly on. I would probably leave the rain fly off until it’s needed for added ventilation when it’s that hot. A good fan like an Opolar could help.

    • @spinfamtravels9057
      @spinfamtravels9057  3 года назад

      Yah, I agree. We just recently went camping in warmer weather. With the rain fly off and the copious amount of windows open, it is as comfortable as your going to get. I bring a battery operated fan incase the wind isn't cooperating.

    How much does it weigh. I am disabled and cannot lift much.
    How is it in high wind and rain. I camp at the beach in windy conditions.
    I loved Coleman 4 person instantly cabin but you cannot find the 8 lb weight only the
    18 lb are available. Its too heavy for my disability.

    • @spinfamtravels9057
      @spinfamtravels9057  3 года назад

      So I would think the weight may be too much for you. I have not had a chance to weight the 4 person tent yet, I weighed the 3 person tent and it came in at 15.5 lbs. As the 4 person tent is larger than their 3 person tent with 3 extra hub structures, more material, more stakes, I would venture to guess it is in the 25 to 30 lbs range.
      We have not tried it on a beach, but on a windy day that was collapsing my gazebo tent in, this tent did not budge.
