I don't think you need to win the championship to become a rivalry, but it definitely adds more to it if the teams face off in the playoffs at some point. That's where real rivalries are made.

Brooks has shown his emotional immaturity many times, including losing his composure and putting Gary Payton Jr in the hospital on a flagrant foul last playoffs. Also being on the verge of suspension from getting too many technical fouls this season.

Wrong, anything can create a rivalry. Lakers lost to the Celtics about 7 times in the 60s, yet that was still a rivalry. Larry Bird lost to magic in 79, but that was still a rivalry. Bulls didn't beat the pistons til 91, still a rivalry. A rivalry doesnt have to go back n forth.

Memphis drank the kool-aid before the all-star game. Chuck is correct. "It's over for them now." They had the opportunity to either be the Sun's or Bucks. They were trending to make the Finals for the first time and possibly being a small market team in the west and win it all.
