- Back for its 22nd iteration, the premiere event of Texas is back. On the weekend of April 26 - 28, 2024, more than 1,000 players would compete across a number of titles from modern games, to retro classics, and community side events.
Among the retro classics, The Shilluminati came together to host tournaments for Street Fighter Alpha 2, Vampire Savior, Marvel vs. Capcom 2, Capcom vs. SNK 2, Super Street Fighter II X, and Street Fighter III: 3rd Strike!

That would be ME! Riz0ne, me, and Azroix for the graphics. I programmed all the overlay names scores, etc. I also programmed the replay tech. This was the first time we tried out the live cam as well. Thank you for appreciating the hard work we put into this production!

yeah so most mvc2 offline tournaments have modded versions of mvc2 running, most memes like mango sentinel are actually modded in colors

Here is some advice to you longtime Texas Showdown fighting game tournament event fans like me out there: if the upcoming Marvel vs. Capcom Fighting Collection: Arcade Classics game coming soon in late 2024 will not keep track of your online win, loss and draw records, then stick with the Arcade1up versions of the Marvel vs. Capcom games. Arcade1up's versions of online fighting games keep track of online records such as wins, losses, etc.. And that's not all: if the Marvel vs. Capcom Fighting Collection: Arcade Classics game will not keep track of your online win, loss and draw records, then play the game at local tournament events.
Well it's confirmed to be online with ranking system....so I'm assuming it'll track W/L records

For the 1st match...this is why a buff is very much needed for low-tier and mid-tier characters. They just went straight to picking Sentinel, Storm, Magneto 😒😆. Would love to see MVC2 modded version in a tournament just like this one. I truly think we would see a much more diversity of characters being played other than Sentinel, Storm, Magneto. Imagine a buffed version of Roll 🤣

thats what i been saying for years mod the low tiers to balance the roster wanna see other characters outside of mag storm sentinel.
This is the premise of Marvel 3. They kept Mag, Sentinel, and Storm intact, and balanced the rest of the cast around those three. Honestly, the only one who feels unfair is Vergil; and only because they gave him the problem they fixed with Strider Hiryu; the nigh-invincible L1.

Does it matter where it is as long as it's easy to get to? The hotel was easy to get to from the airport. You're pretty much at the venue every day. It doesn't really matter what city you're in.

Mvc2 tournaments are super boring to watch. Mind you I LOVE THIS GAME. Its literally storm yelling HUH the whole time. Low tier mvc2 is WAY more fun to watch than high tier. And yes I clicked off. Didn't waste my time watching.
This is a tournament meant to be competitive. If you want to make it fun do so yourself. Just because they have storm or magneto or whomever doesn't guarantee a win. Look at the players who do use low tier and still wreck shop. Toan don't fuck around and comes to win not handicap himself. That's for casuals.

At a high level this game is the most boring shit, strictly sentinel, storm n magneto.. maybe commando assist or psylocke or doom or cyclops.. everyone just lames each other out n builds meter to chip at your bar or hopefully hit your assist.. way to make a once dope game look like shit.
