I am using burning emblers for single bosses. For groups of mobs they are not that practical in my opinion while deep breath gives an insane burst heal when there are more mobs around.

But it's just my opinion burning embers always applies the burning status effect on enemies, and with dk passive you get magicka of burnings embers and burning deals more damage, that's why I use it. Also the morph of deep breath that returns magicka its amazing love the skill
Brief info on my current build: 5 x light armour, 1 x medium armour, 1 x heavy armour; 5 x Overwhelming Surge set, 5 x Elf Bane set, 1 x Grothdarr arm cops, 1 x Ring of the Pale Order, mix of purple and gold pieces; magicka enchants on armour, weapon damage enchant on inferno staff, absorb magicka enchant on lightning staff and restoration staff (resto staff equipped for the final boss and accidentally for the first three pulls), 3 x increase magicka harm enchants on jewelry; divines traits on armour, sharpened traits on weapons, 1 x bloodthirsty and 2 x healthy traits on jewelry; mundus stone The Lover; food Melon-Baked Parmesan Pork; potions Essence of Magicka and Essence of Spellpower (for the second and the final boss). Front bar skills: Igneous Weapons (Volatile Armour for the second and the final boss), Eruption, Elemental Blockage, Cauterize, Mystic Orb (Elemental Drain for bosses), Magma Shell. Back bar skills: Inner Light (Radiating Regeneration for the final boss), Engulfing Flames, Draw Essence (Burning Emblers for the second boss), Burning Talons, Flame Lash, Standard of Might. Please note that the build is still in development.

Taking off that burning embers from the skill bar it's almost like a crime. It's the dot in the game, it's not aoe but it's the best dot.
