Many thanks for this video. I see a lot of value in this video because it is about what you really like, in what you are proud of, even though you have to restrict to the 10 fingers (+1) we have.
That LLL adapter is the best thing since sliced bread for the SL camera. Shows they can make world class products even without inspiration fro Leica, wonder what they will go for in 2025... My favorite buy in 2024 probably the 35mm summicron too!
Hey Matt✌ Cool list of the tips you showed👌 In my EDC I always have the 240 and analogue lenses from the III series alternating with the Summitar/Summicron and the newly added Summaron 3.5cm, which was one of the first batches to be exact when I bought the Leica II 938 according to research by Leica, which I only wrote to last time, more on this later. So I'm well positioned for my intuition 50 and 35. The Heliar 28 you mentioned is of course also a good alternative, maybe I'll treat myself to it too😉My bags are actually from Helikon Tex from the military/bushcraft scene, I have two larger ones and when I'm out and about on a run then the smaller one. Two Cmas also fit in and you don't recognise that they are camera bags👍My new purchase on Ebay was a Leica II Model D from 1932 from a private seller which was very close to my home (20km). I arranged to pick it up in person after my tour (job), went there, had a quick chat, looked at the viewfinder, e-knife and tested the times according to the hearing, everything worked and I got it cheaper than the price on Ebay, which was around 150 euros from 400👌😉 to be precise. As soon as I got home I wrote to Leica support and a short time later I received feedback with the history, i.e. delivery from 02/02/1932 to Munich. And also the service it had already received. The family from whom I have it with family documents has owned it since 1952 and was given as a gift by a naval officer to a leaving soldier after the war by his great-grandfather who then received it from his friend who had left. I'll pop in a film and see how the pictures are Ui a long text✌ Lg Anderl
Does the Thypoch 50 hit a CCD or CMOS sensor when collapsed? I have the Leica Noctilux-M 50 mm f/1.2 re-issue, but could see getting a LLL Titanium Grey version too.
Yes you can collapse on M cameras John, no issue. Keep an eye on the LLL website as their “fancier” lenses often sell out first. I missed out on the 35/2 LTM rigid.
Nice list, I can't wait for your Canon 50mm F1.2 review on the SL .... On my list of 10 best purchase of 2024 : The Thypoc Simera's, the Eureka 50, the IIIF black repainted, the M8 with a Voigtlander 21mm f4... and a Vanvrd Rogue 6L Sling bag in yellow... And your LR presets for M11 and SL3 ... 🤣😂 Merry Christmas my friend and Happy New Year .. hope we meet again soon....
My no one buy this year is my 50.1 MP Canon 5dsr. I wanted this cam since 10 yrs. Best for landscape. Will sell my SL601 and my SL2. Why: I sorry hate the "Joystick". It changes always my settings while I walk. Why can't Leica do it like Canon? Of course I will keep my five M cameras (M2, M6, M8.2, M9P, M240 😅)
My best purchase of 2024? My Leica SL601 without contest. A camera that is nice to look at, and nice to take photographs with! The image quality is way better than any modern FF cameras, it has very pleasing colors and tonality, definetely has a certain look.
Hi Matt, nice of you to point your more useful purchases out. I am so jealous of the V3 Summicron. These have so much of that Leica character . For me and unexpectedly the best lens purchase for my Leica M cameras was the Voigtlander 50mm F1.2 Nocton. This lens is now near permanently parked on my M 240 with an 8X ND filter attached. I just love the rendering of this lens, very sharp even @ F1.2 but not clinical with all that digital look that we hate so much. The other one was the ThinkTank Retrospective 5 bag. They are just perfect for the Leica M with a lens attached and a couple of other lenses. I particularly love the feel of the canvas material, very uncamera bag like. I also have two retrospective 7s which house the Nikons. As for stupid purchases, well lets just say that I could have paid for a decent used M Monochrome if I hadn't bought so much crap. The old saying of you live and learn somehow does not appear to apply to me. I am very eager to see more model shoot with the Hasselblad. Yes, I could have bought one them too perhaps if I hadn't wasyed the hard earned money, but if you did it please make it a dedicated video for model shoot and no gear talk. The files from that camera are sublime for a digital camera. Thank you.
Hey Matt, many thanks for all the work you do in reviewing all this gear and sharing it with us. What are the chances of doing a review of the Minolta CLE with it's fantastic lenses, compared to a Leica M7. I think the CLE is a fantastic little camera that seems to be a secret. Many people mention the old CL but seem to have forgotten the CLE
Thanks! I bought the CL over the CLE and I’ve yet to try the M7 so I’m not in a great position to make that video. If I ever try both cameras I will for sure.
My favorite purchase this year was lomography turquoise film stock (35 and 120) and maybe 35 b&w reversal (but I still have to take some pictures and develop it, so my verdict is still outstanding.
I’ve had a copy of the 35mm Summicron v3 for 50 years. I still love it. It renders different from my new 35mm Ultron II. It depends on what I’m shooting that day..
My favorite purchase of 2024: Canon EOS 1V + 50mm 1.2L, and Fuji X100VI. Well I didn't buy anything else this year... and hopefully I won't by any more camer gear 😬
Thanks, I have the expensive lenses too I just seem to like the ‘crappy’ ones more for my work. Photos need to look better “more arty” than reality or a lose interest really quick.
It was a bonus. I could have included another 10 lenses etc but I wanted to mix it up a bit and keep it short. People will ask me what watch I’m wearing so I might as-well mention it. (I don’t get kick backs from mentioning the watch)

Thanks Tobi! Probably somewhat inspired by your PhaseOne!

Thanks David, yes it was nice to look back on the year and see what items really stood out.
Yay !! 262 and III Love ! Thank you Matt. Merry Xmas to you and a Very Happy Leica New Year ! Indra
Thanks! Yes both great! Same to you!
Played guitar for many years. Met so many people just talking about gear and not delivering.
Hats off to you.
You 'rock'. 😊
Thanks, very kind!
HB, yes; Eureka, yes. The Elcan is nice, too. All good recommendations. Happy Christmas to you.
Thanks Sandy, yes the Elcan has more character and then I use the sharper lens, the Thypoch for film. Both great.
Happy Holidays Matt 🎄
Thanks Rob! (live-ish Q&A video to come so ask your questions on the IG story or YT community post!)
My Leica SL2 is my No.1 purchase of 2024, I absolutely love it :)
I am enjoying your videos and it has been fun watching them on your journey. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you!
Thanks! Happy Holidays!

Thanks Grom and nice list! Yes the 50 1.2 will be soon I promise!
Matt , does that Vöigtlander Heliar fit the Leica III with no shimming or modification ?
Cheers
Yes no issues on all Iii cameras.

Thanks! Yes sometimes we need to buy to learn sadly. I did make a H3D video showing a lot of a shoot, linked under this video.
Looking forward to the Summicron review. Hope you can test it against the original 7Artisan 35mm......😉
Thanks! I can’t test it against the seemingly hundreds of 35s ever made but I’ll give my 2p worth!

Great! Yes I have a pile of film still to develop too.
I’ve had a copy of the 35mm Summicron v3 for 50 years. I still love it. It renders different from my new 35mm Ultron II. It depends on what I’m shooting that day..
Great! Yes it’s like an Ultron with a mist filter attached :)
Get Matt to 40K before New Years!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Ha thanks, end of January is almost possible but I think early Feb.
I would worry about pick pockets with an open small wotoncraft bag with no cover to secure the bag.
Yes for “bad” areas I use the Pilot bags, correct. This is a bag for when you can relax.
I really would like to get my hands on the typoch
It’s my most used 50 on film and I have 20-30+ 50s at every price point.
My favorite purchase of 2024: Canon EOS 1V + 50mm 1.2L, and Fuji X100VI.
Well I didn't buy anything else this year... and hopefully I won't by any more camer gear 😬
Nice! Yes sometimes cameras just work and that’s all you need.
@@MattOsborne-MrLeicaComI am sure that's objective true, but in my case I have too much junk already 😂
best by of 2024 - SL
Best value is most used is H3D-39, LLL adapter, Thypoch 50 and EDC bag. Cheapest, the TTA is great for the price vs original costing £2K+
You are so wonderful/marvelous insane with your gear - it's great and all righty right;-))
Ha thanks!
Geez Matt = I try to avoid watching these because I really don’t want to spend any more money 😭
Yes sorry for that, I felt the same for people after making it.
I just don't understand using crap knock off lenses on good cameras, but if you like it, more power to you.
because of the the image and shooting experience is good why would you care?
Except they're not crap.
But you wouldn't know since you've never tried.
Thanks, I have the expensive lenses too I just seem to like the ‘crappy’ ones more for my work. Photos need to look better “more arty” than reality or a lose interest really quick.
被中国充值了😂
Ha thanks, they are getting good!
Please (re-)think it through. Wrist watch? Really? You are trying to milk this cow too hard.
It was a bonus. I could have included another 10 lenses etc but I wanted to mix it up a bit and keep it short. People will ask me what watch I’m wearing so I might as-well mention it. (I don’t get kick backs from mentioning the watch)
