  • Louie Simmons shares his experience in increasing your bench press, answering questions as:
    - Is it necessary to switch grips?
    - Why do incline if increasing the flat bench is the goal?
    - How to use bands and chains the right way
    - How important is the standing press?
    - And more!
Louie's Bench Press Manual is the result of decades of experiments in the gym. The above topics and many more are discussed in detail!

    • @MS-ty8gq

billy batts natural lifters can definitely train using the conjugate method! There is no set conjugate program that applies to everyone, because in its core, the exercise choices in conjugate method programming are specific to the individual lifter's exact weaknesses and needs, whatever their sport is - while the basic outline of the method is followed: max effort, dynamic effort, repeated effort and GPP. If you are interested in learning about it I highly recommend searching through the article archives on the westside Barbell website, and reading the westside Barbell book of methods, life changing information on there.

Covid forced myself to build a small place to lift in my home focusing on the primary lifts; deadlift, squat, and bench. Admittedly, deadlift and squat were intimidating, mostly of form. Years, at a commercial gym, I just lifted randomly and stayed in my comfort zone. Now, in my own home, I am focused more on these lifts and after a few months I am obsessed.

@@GabrielMartinsFitness It's just an observation of who's been at the gym over the past couple of decades vs what they're doing. They might be unrelated and it's just been a natural progression of Louie's coaching, but as the lifters there haven gotten lighter the volume seems to have gotten higher eg some of the girls doing 6x6 for dynamic effort, now 2 max effort movements on the same day etc. When I visited in 2015 I also noticed a subtle difference between the bigger guys and the smaller guys + girls (although iirc the guys were prepping for a meet so that could have been why their volume seemed lower).
