I would say in this case 'Shauri Yako' translates better as "it is up to you'' (it's your decision to make or it's your choice) ... the other one 'it's your problem' is not wrong per se, I just think in this context this is more appropriate to say 'it is up to you' because the man is saying to her 'you decide/choose' (accept me as I am or leave)

How can I give this song more "Thumbs Up"s? I feel like everyone on the planet should hear it! Shauri Yako is an ANTHEM with the most important message for every person to hear: that all people should resist temptation to seek personal gain through unethical behavior!
I'm 46 years old And when I was growing up, my Parents would play this song when they hosted friends. It was always a vibey atmosphere. Christmas 2021 we danced to this song. I didn't know that would be my last Christmas with them both. They passed away 2022 June, a few days apart. This song represents both my childhood and my last Christmas witj Mom and Dad. RIP❤
It went viral in Botswana too.it'll never go out of fashion.all our bands in Bots can't resist playing it at any gig.thank you Orchestra Super Kazembe!you shall forever remain great,& be respected in this beautiful continent of ours,as well as by all Africans in the diaspora
Memories: I am just a 10 year old kid why back in the 80's and colonialism is slowly vanishing from the African Continent, Its summer, I am in Dar es Salaam with my father and my mother, they are dancing to this song while dressed in Bell bottoms, surrounded by coconut trees and the great Indian Ocean is swelling in the west and the scent of ubabwe is in the air. I need to go back home and kiss the Tanzanian soil, just to say thank you for having taken care of us during those dark days of apartheid from which my father escaped.
Sipho, you could be Great novelist/writer...try and put up your experience in a book....with the little you have described,it evokes a paradise on earth before plastic and Global warming took over...
You are a true African patriot. Being a neighbour in Kenya, i fully undersand you my brother. Lets be ourselves and stop imitating the culture of others. Am proudly BLACK.

I'm glad to have known Super Mazembe. I love these Swahili songs although I don't understand some of the words. We should keep this kind of music for the generations to come and never let it get overshadowed by foreign music. It's unfortunate today's youths believe this music is for the old and deserves to be scrapped from modern society. Music never expires, it carries it's relevancy all the time. I met a beautiful young lady from Tanzania. She told me she spoke Swahili. With my interest in Swahili music, the only thing I hoped would connect us, I sang her Sina Makosa by Les Wanyika. She liked the fact that at least I knew something that depicted her culture. But I was disappointed when she criticised me for listening to such music which she labelled as outdated. In Zimbabwe, where I come from, I grew up listening to East African music. I've always loved this kind of music and Kanindo. I'm still in my 20s but i'll always cherish this kind music and my love for it goes beyond borders. I penda (love) you watu wote wa Africa. I hear my Venda tribe migrated from Central and East Africa, maybe it's the blood that ties me to the East. 🇿🇼😊🇿🇼

I used to listen to this song way back 1980s in Zambia and those were the days indeed ,I don't even understand the language, but the rythm is awesome💖💖💖🙏🙏🙏.
I Grew Up Listening To This Song. Super Mazembe Slightly Smoothened The Rough Edges On The Song Originally Sang BY Nguashi Ntimbo With Orch Festivak du Zaire. It Is Informative, Educative and Entertaining! Cheers!
😰😰😰 eish the later generation just don't understand what some people went through to achieve freedom and basic rights. 1979 I was 9 years but I fully understand what was went on at that time in Zimbabwe (Rhodesia) , South Africa, Mozambique and other countries. It was very painful
It's sad that we will not be here 100 years from now to remind the then generation how this song was great. Everytime you check here hit like to keep the song for the future ☺️
Orchestra Super Mazembe was a popular band based in Kenya playing Lingala ( Soukous ) music. The band had roots in Super Vox, a band formed in 1967 in Zaire and led by Nashil Pichen Kazembe, Mutonkole Longwa Didos. The band moved to Nairobi in 1974 and changed its name to Orchestra Super Mazembe. Their biggest hit was "Shauri Yako", a cover song originally performed by Nguashi Ntimbo and Festival Du Zaire. Other popular songs included "Samba", "Bwana Nipe Pesa" and "Kassongo". The group was disbanded in 1985. Super Mazembe is considered as one of the golden era of Kenyan Lingala music acts alongside Les Mangelepa , Baba Gaston and Samba Mapangala .

RIP Simon Mwangi...Dad......you loved this song massively.......and so do i....and my kid dances to it now too......GOD BLESS RHUMBA MUSIC....Its Legendary!!!!!
My late dad used to play this great song in the 80s and now that I can pick one or two Swahili words I love it even more. Why should I commit a crime for love?
Bit by bit you will get to know every word and that's when you get the beauty of this song..it's so emotional.its tone is so soothing too...the wording was chosen with utmost precision...
Grew up in Zimbabwe listening to this song and liking it never knowing what it said. Thanks to you RUclips and the translation I love it even more. its a very African song and wouldn't make sense in any other culture and its not intended to. love it
Aww this took me back to my childhood. I’m sitting here chuckling now I have these lyrics…. The way we singing in Zim.we made up our own words or just hummed until the Shauri yako bit. Then we sang the loudest😂😂😂❤
this is the original version i used to listen to salamu za adhuhuri by omuga kabisae .... gladys erude ...elizabeth obege .... lenny mambo mbotela .... fredie obach .... eddy fondo ...way back in kenya as i took care of grannys cows on weekends ... God bless kenya
its about a beautiful lady called fatou, and his admirer who is broke and cant maintain fatou or approach fatou due to financial constraints ... the man says he cant steal or kill for money inorder to woo her
People asking for a translation - it's there in the description above (click on "more")...
Is the group still around,I remember in 90s radio2 Zimbabwe Musavengane Nyasha❤

Memories: I am just a 10 year old kid why back in the 80's and colonialism is slowly vanishing from the African Continent, Its summer, I am in Dar es Salaam with my father and my mother, they are dancing to this song while dressed in Bell bottoms, surrounded by coconut trees and the great Indian Ocean is swelling in the west and the scent of ubabwe is in the air. I need to go back home and kiss the Tanzanian soil, just to say thank you for having taken care of us during those dark days of apartheid from which my father escaped.
Lovely. Wena o motswana kana Mosotho kana Mopedi. hehe. ur family had escaped to Tanzania. We need to hear those stories
You make me want to cry as I am also revisiting my story.

😰😰😰 eish the later generation just don't understand what some people went through to achieve freedom and basic rights. 1979 I was 9 years but I fully understand what was went on at that time in Zimbabwe (Rhodesia) , South Africa, Mozambique and other countries. It was very painful

Super Mazembe is considered as one of the golden era of Kenyan Lingala music acts alongside Les Mangelepa , Baba Gaston and
Samba Mapangala .
