Thanks for having me over, CT! It was a pleasure to hang out for a bit and check out Rusty and the other cool projects in the works. Great job on the video and thanks again!
Anytime my friend! See you soon! Thank you!
Haptic Garage love that motor home!!! My folks have a 1972 Winnebago brave!
@@marcijunebug Ohhh cool!!! I first began to love RVs when I saw an "eyebrow" Winnie as a kid. That's awesome!
Haptic Garage we cal it the “albino rhino” 😆
@@marcijunebug Too funny, that's a good one
Brent is a great guy, glad he was able to lend a hand. There sure are some fantastic people in the VW community.
Yes sir! He is pretty cool and so are you! Get over here! =)
CT it will probably be after the holidays, still tweaking Jawbreaker.
This thing deserves much more likes. Beautiful!
Thanks CT,have a safe and happy holiday season 👍
Thanks man! You too!
I'm very excited to see this VW on the streets again
Thanks Alex! Me too!
CT Try and keep calm Alex, could be a little while yet .
CT's better at keeping them 'OFF' the streets.
This Trailer is soooooo cool I love it👌👌👌 pretty cool 🤩
Thanks Iris! I appreciate that! Stay tuned for more!
Brents pretty cool. I like the Airstream. It was good of him to bring that tool and help with the removal. Hate I missed the video when it came out. Just now getting caught up on my viewing as I have been a little under the weather. Merry Christmas and Happy New year just in case!
I rebuilt about a dozen of these motors.....just polish the oil pressure relief piston with crocus cloth + the bore and you're golden. Just don't take metal off in any amount. Shows that oil changes were not a priority of previous owner.
Hey his beard did match!!! 😂 I love the patina!!!
CT should mug him for the beard and stick it on rusty's nosecone🤣
Earthbound4now Omg 😂😂😂 It was a good video!!
Yes, it's a perfect match!
@@earthbound4now474 Yes, that would be fun! =)
cool friend ! important that tool !!!
Hello Juan! Yes, he is really cool! Yes it is! Very important! =)
HG in the house ! Wow, that beard , is spot on ! Check out Haptic Garage channel guys , GREAT stuff . Nice work , get that case cleaned and reassembled 👍.
Thanks man! Yes, if I ever need a Rusty paint match at Home Depot I'm taking Brent with me! HAHA
Not sure why people keep thinking that WD40 is a penetrating oil. It isn’t. WD stands for water displacer.
Hey John, it works for all kinds of stuff.
Nice visit, agree Brent has a great channel, he made an amazing video on the road trip for bike week.. They make the same type of tool for dist. shalft before i got one ; i have a piece of flat brase stock that I was able to tap into the slot and rotate the shaft out.
Thanks man! Yes, he is pretty cool! I might have to pick up one of those tools.
Hi CT, Very good and his beard does match Rusty🤣
Thanks Tim! HAHA Yes it does! =)
Happy Holiday's CT 🎄
Thanks Tyson! Happy Holiday's to you too!
@@CTmoog thanks alot

Culll 👍 😀 👍 Pozdrowienia z Polski 🇵🇱. 🎄
Thanks brother!
Great video
Thanks my friend!
Great video! I remember VW had that tool way back when, used it a few times!
Yes, I would love to have all the original VW tools that they used back in the day. I picked up a couple of 27mm wrench. They are really cool!
Yes I wish I could have saved all the aircooled manuals and tools at the dealer I worked at, they scrapped everything, wouldn’t let anyone have anything. All the old training films were film strips and lp records for sound, all destroyed so sad.
Great video from 64vw of nj
CT - whatever caused tthat little piston to become stuck - is still in there. I certainly would not bead blast the old piston and try to re-use it. I’ll bet somebody sells new pistons dirt cheap and I’d strongly recommend getting one. Keeping the van as original as possible is a nice idea but that shouldn’t extend to wear items that will likely fail again.
Also - without some sort of protection on the body it will continue to corrode. Maybe if you lived in Arizona, you could get away without some sort of protective coating, but in New England’s moist climate....forget it.
Hey Peter! Thanks for the advice my friend! I agreee. I will look for a replacement piston. Thank you!
I dont think so. The cause why the little piston becomes stuck is only the old sticky oil. The old piston only needs a little wet sanding in my opinion. But you have to inspect and clean the hole for that piston. If there is any dirt left in the hole the new piston will become stuck again.
CT Good. Don’t confuse original with “worn out” CT. Another thing that concerned me was that the piston had been gripped by a big pair of ChannelLock pliers. Don’t get me wrong - those are great tools, but not when they are used to hold onto a small component that needs a micro level smooth finish to function properly. Oil pumps (and related components such as pressure relief valve) must be carefully fitted with very small clearances - other wise, they just don’t work properly.
Anyhow - keep on keepin’ on.
@@GettingNervous Yes, we are going to make sure it is really clean this time!
@@assessor1276 You are certainly not wrong, but in many cases a refurbished original part is better than the replica parts.
With Teamwork and WD40😜 everything is possible 👌👌😁
Yes it is! =) I love that stuff and it smells good too!
Nice video with that nice rusty bearded guy 😁. To protect the actual rusty look and prevent continue the corrosion i would recommend Owatrol. They use it e.g. for rusty metal sculptures and isn´t Rusty a metal sculpture? You can try Owatrol on some of the old rotted parts, put them outside exposed to the weather to check out if it is the right stuff for Rusty. Some of my friends are using Owatrol on their motorbikes to keep the rusty patina.
Thanks man! That's a great tip. I will try it on some of Rusty's metal that I removed and see how it looks.
Would be great to see it painted and preserved
Not this one. It's Rusty! =)
Estou doido pra ver vc mexer nessa lataria.
Isso vai ser um desafio.
Hello! Yes, it's going to be a big job. Stay tuned to see more! =) Thank you!
👍👍
Thanks man! Stay tuned for more!
I jus thought of a great personalized plate for a Ford Ranchero -- ' HUEVOS ' -
🤣😂🤣😂😏
GMs version of a westfalia? joint venture with airstream.
Yes! Pretty cool! I want one now.
Tig is a Nice looking doggy .....shame he couldn't be in the shop :(
Hey Russel! Yes, Tig is pretty cool dog! He is welcome in the shop anytime. Maybe on the next visit. Stay tuned!
àwesome
Thank you! Stay tuned for more!
Nice vid man!
Thanks brother! Thanks for all the help!
my wife is so much happier since we bought a motorhome.
Man you can probably bring out some of that lettering. Get some of that surface rust off and that lettering might start coming through more. And dont clear it just oil it. Check out musty1 old videos of his single cab.
Never emery paper the grit embeds... use scotch brite pad or steel wool etc.
Good advice! Thanks man! =)
Cover that roof with tar paper and rubber roofing then put drain spouts down the side and don't forgit to cut a hole in the roof for a wood burning stove pipe and proper flashing (v.w.'s don't have heat) git some one to make you AL-YOU-MINIUM gutters for that roof..rubber roofing is guaranteed to last 50 years.
What’s your plan? Will you make it look beautiful or will you leave it as is ( optic )
Rusty =)
That number with the letters on the passenger side of rusty looks like the old phone number . Back in my younger days we had numbers like that . EA9 5076
Hey Tim! Yes, I think you are correct. Very interesting. Thanks man! Stay tuned!
Wish you hadn't said that, showing my age now, telephone table..choice of colors for Bakelite phone was black or black, rotary dial, no such thing as coiled cord for receiver, dialed "O" for directory assistance, long distance. Party lines. Gee thanks Tim....lol
Rusty and Rusty
Yes, they are related somehow... I'm certain of it! =)
Fine and lucky work pulling out the small piston but never seen such an ugly motor home before. However I like the red bearded man and his dog watching their home. The Ford Truck is stunning.
Any stove can be repaired and restored
hey Clarke, that there is an R V!
I think the #@$% is full! =)
@@CTmoog my family loves that movie, I do to especially the daydream of the swimming pool.😁😈😁
@@donniebrown2896 Yes, it's a great movie!
Wait, 2020? Aren't we supposed to have rocket cars and ray guns by now?
Hey Joe! Yes, what happened? We need to pick up the pace! =) Stay tuned!
Joe Keaton For some reason I just thought of buck Rogers when I read this 😂
Where's the 'Gina' the Ghia? 🤙😉🤙
Hey John! The Ghia is down the street in my sisters garage for a few days. It will be back soon.
How's Rusty's restoration?
Hello Lucas! It's going good. More Rusty videos soon! =)
@@CTmoog Right. I'll stay tuned.
I'm stalking you from turkey
That's awesome! Thanks for watching and stay tuned for more!
brother who knows the know-it-all there
I want to tell you, I'm really curious about what this van would look like.
Hello Kerem! I know me too. It would look amazing! Stay tuned for more! =)
Repaint it so it can be used properly:)
Not right now. It will stay Rusty for some time.
Nice tool to get hte piston out. Dont buy one CT. I bet they are expensive. If you want one, go to a hardware store and buy a raw bolt. Will do the same job for a lot less. :).
These tools are pretty cheap. I got a set with different sizes to pull out inner bearings. But i agree, i think it is not necessary to buy a tool for a single job.
I found one on sale for $14...I think it's worth it if I going to be doing a bunch of these engines over the years.

Finish in 2029?
Yeah he's lost a subscriber sadly
my friend the restoration process of the minibus is moving very slowly would not be a bit faster
Yes, it takes time and money. Stay tuned! =)
Cheaper to scrap it &
Buy all new metal and weld one up from scratch? 🤣
=)
What are you doing man !? You don't think that your last videos are almost not interesting and boring ? The rythm of rusty's restoration is very slow...
Mechanically and structurally sound...LEAVE all the rest! It’s only OG once!
Well said my friend! Thanks Marci!
