Yes!! Editing is such an important part! I find people who don't understand the editing process really don't understand it's so important for a garden. And especially to get the "look" you're trying to achieve in your own garden.
We got some much needed rain yesterday, what a blessing! I think about 2 1/2 to 3 inches ! Now I feel confident that anything that I many end up moving will survive. 🌺💚🙃
Thank you so much for this video. My husband thinks I disrupt the plants when I take things out that aren't working. My garden has been so helpful for me dealing with my depression & it brings me joy, but brings a lot of sadness when I'm trying my best & only want things in my garden that makes me happy. I love gardening & only gotten really into it past 2yrs. I live in Toronto, Ontario Canada. Your garden is so beautiful
I should also mentioned I ordered a certain tree that I have been looking for for quite awhile, well it’s not what I ordered but I’m alright with that one. But sooooo disappointing! 🌺💚🙃 I wish that companies would get things right and not just send you whatever just to fill an order ! 🌺💚🙃
Editing is an essential part of gardening. When I stop moving plants around and adding, substracting plants my gardening days are over! Gardens change! What we imagine would look great on paper or in our minds might not look so great in reality. Some of my neighbors snidely comment on me digging plants up and replacing them. I think they believe that I just have a hard time making decisions or something. But, they aren't gardeners so I'll be patient with them !
Hostas and I have a love hate relationship. I bought a few then they divided and multiplied and then over time I saw that swath of green and I wanted colour. So I have dug out a few now and sold them on marketplace and made a few $ to buy some flowering perennials. This video is like reading my mind.
Love ur video. Always find a way to look better for ur garden ❤. Sometimes, by opening the space will give a breath of fresh air and look nicer… to the areas. Give me ideas of editing my back garden this fall. Thanks. 😊
I didn’t think that I would ever be editing my garden but alas I am😢. When you mail order plants you expect to get exactly what you ordered right? The first year they sleep, the second year they creep, and that’s when you find out their true colors ! I’ve been finding that several of the plants I ordered are not what I ordered color wise 😢so they need to be removed ( moved ). So frustrating! Perfect example, I’m not a big fan of day lilies but in the right colors I will add them. Well this year they showed themselves and I’m not a fan of the color they turned out to be so now I have to figure out where in the world to move them to. I won’t get rid of them because I paid for them but now they’re a headache to me. 😢🌺💚🙃 I absolutely HATE it when you don’t get the colors you ordered. 🌺💚🙃
This exact thing happened to me with a hydrangea and I sent photos to company and they replaced it with the correct one and said it must have been a tag error. So now I have a large limelight hydrangea I need to rehome.
I'll need to move some stuff around in my garden too! Very pretty! I appreciate your channel. Keep it up! My channel doesn't have near the viewership yet but all we can do is keep grinding and putting out videos!! Well make it someday.
Need to get one of those shovels --- so efficient and strong. Getting rid of some filler plants right now as well. Trying to redesign my plant and flowers to my favorites. I am in 7A-7B and try to stay with plants that can tolerate heat, wind, drought, and torrential storms. I have a huge shrub I need to remove and may use a baby pool (it is so large) to hold the plant not to make a mess when removing. Waiting on a good rain, to remove easily. Thank you for motivating me with all your transfers, etc.
I know your rose wasn't a wild rose, but they are notorious for coming back from the root. I totally get editing a garden. It's a journey through the life of plants maturing and one's taste and style evolving through time.
My next “ editing “ project is taking out many Orange day lilies ( ditch lilies) They were nice in the beginning, but they’ve spread and I’m ready for something different . I’m lucky that my neighbor wants them , so I don’t have to toss them .
Perfect timing for this video! I’ve debated editing my shade garden which has too many hostas now that they’re full grown. Thanks for the push I needed to create a more interesting shade bed!
I enjoyed this video...I am trying to get the courage to edit out more plants in my garden that just don't perform...like veronicas that have terrible foliage every year, some amsonia that drops thousands of seeds, and a couple of shrubs that just don't enhance anything. Your ability to "just do it" is inspiring me...
So glad you have on boots today! I get so nervous when you work in your casual shoes. I take it you don't have a lot of fire ant attacks in Michigan. They have gotten me quite a few times this season in South Carolina! Thanks as always for sharing!
Great video. I have a number of plants that need to be moved or removed after it cools down a bit, such as Blue Star Amsonia, Yarrow & Day Lilies that have pretty much taken over the beds they are in. Most of my Hosta plants stay small, I would love to have a few get so big that I could divide them. I don't know what I am doing wrong.
I recently bought a Dwarf Burning Bush, and I am not familiar with these plants. The information I found was that they could send out suckers and spread some. I have not heard you mention that about your Burning Bush. Is that something you have had to deal with? And if so, are they easy to keep in check? (I have researched, and they are not invasive in my region) I appreciate your help as always. Thank you, Soleil.
@@Suburbanoasis Wonderful! I am do glad I asked you, I was considering not keeping them if they were going to 'spread' around too much. Thank you so much for your help.

I love editing my garden! My husband calls it playing musical plants 😂
Love that!😄🍀🌻💐
Deer 🦌 candy ha ha I love that you cleared your ‘urb’ garden out of the rose ☀️🫶🏻🤗

Wonderful!🤗🍀🪴🌺

I've never heard the word "editing " used for gardening. I like it!! I edit my garden and didn't know it! 😅

So rewarding to hear that snapping of the rootball
Yes Soleil I sure enjoyed.
I always enjoy seeing your gardens and the changes you make along the way. They are truly lovely. So enjoyable to watch. Thank you! 👌🪴🥰

The nice thing is, they keep growing so if you change your mind again... 😉🤩🪴💐

I feel this has happened to many people in the last couple years and hopefully the company will right it. 🥰🌿🌼🏵

Your squeaky boots made me laugh😂, mine do that too!

I've been working on that several years. I think I have them conquered only to find them sneak back in.
I kind of did the same thing this morning too!
Had to stop cause it was getting to hot. I’m in California 🥵
Happy Gardening 🪴
Happy gardening! Stay cool. 😎🌷🌵🌼
I would be interested in seeing your soil improvements.
Thank you Sunshine. I’m working on dividing Iris right now. It’s amazing how fast they multiply! 🌺💚🙃
It really is! I just pulled a few myself. Good job! 🤗🌺🌲🪴
I am the same with plants, some stay, some are given away and some end up in the garbage.

I have a lot of Hosta to move this fall. Love your videos. Thanks for sharing 🍃🌸🍃

Those fire ants are the worst. I am allergic, probably one of the reasons I moved back to Michigan from Florida! 😁🪴🌺🌼

Have fun moving things around! You may just have a hosta variety that is a slow grower. Some are. 🤗☘️🌷🌸
I've also found that hosta need a lot of water to get big. That's another thing to try!
@@smz506 Thak you!
@@Suburbanoasis Thank you!
Greetings from TN!
I learn so much from your beautiful garden!
What can I do to enrich my soil?
Just keep adding organic matter to it over time and it really will improve! 🤗🌲🌼🌸
I'm thinking of removing my hostas also, they grew humongous
Some do just keep getting bigger and bigger. 😄🍀🪴💮

Are you sure that’s your boots making that noise? JK. 🌺💚🙃
😄😄😄😄
Do you know you can turn down you audio on the video when you do a voice over which would take out the sound of the boots squeaking.
Yes, but I didn't do a voice over. 😉🌻🌼💐
Lol you are not doing a voice over 😊
😄
