I’m so glad to hear you say that you can’t to a straight diagonal line! I thought I should be able to do it by now but I can’t to save my life. I have a hard time though with keeping the ruler in place while stitching. It wants to wiggle all over the place. I haven’t found that sweet spot yet.
Have you tried using Handi Grip? Also try using different amounts of pressure on the ruler. If you press too hard, it traps the fabric and makes it hard to move the machine.
Hmmm, no I haven't. I have some here somewhere. I'll try it. I feel like I have to press so hard to keep it from moving which causes the fabric bunch up like you mentioned. I'll try some grip. That should help.
How do you keep the ruler base in place when you add pressure to hold the ruler? Mine has flipped up at the back. Should it be fastened to the machine?
I think I’m going to use a strip of Velcro at the back on both sides to make sure the base doesn’t flip up again. When it happened my needle snapped and punched hole in my quilt.
Hey all, on that orange quilt with the geometric design--how did you get such loft on your quilt please?? Do you have double the batting? And, I assume folks know, since I didn't hear it mentioned (unless I missed it) that you need to use a ruler base on the machine when doing ruler work for optimal results.
Wonderful stitching ❤ if only I could do this without a long arm
We love our friends at Handi Quilter! These women are absolute Pros!!

Hi from Leroy,Saskatchewan,Canada

Yes it should be fastened to your machine.
The ruler base should attach to your machine securely so that it doesn't shift.
Mine doing the same

@@joangentles1160you may be using too much pressure pushing the ruler against the ruler foot. If attached correctly, you should not have tipping

Yes you need a ruler base.
Definitely use a ruler base! Thank you for pointing that out. As for the peach quilt, it has two layers of batting. 80/20 with a wool layer on top.
what is a ruler base
@arlene9330 the clear base that goes on the longarm to provide a stable base of support for the rulers when longarming.
What settings are you using for this ruler work? Tia
I generally do Cruise mode at a really slow speed.
My pause is on left handle. How do you pause when holding ruler with left? I'll have to check and see if my machine will let me pause with right hand?
If you have an Amara, you can swap it to the right handlebar or you can use the programmable button.
