- NEW ORNN PASSIVE - ALL ITEMS NOW UPGRADABLE - League of Legends. Ornn just got a big new passive rework, replacing the few items that were able to be upgraded while getting new names, to every legendary item being now upgradable and just getting the masterwork tag written after their old names.

It was probably because adding that many items with unique names would cause a programming issue. Names are really important in coding and in a game as old and spaghetti ridden as league, adding in like 60 named entities that probably have to get inefficiently referenced by like 30 different systems would probably take a lot of bugfixing. Programming Ornn to add the word masterwork to the end and increase the stats is probably easier (somehow).

I like them removing the names, it makes things less confusing when looking up items on the wiki and in the client
If only Riot gave all items new names when upgraded it would have been perfect. Overall still a great buff for Ornn.
Too much work. You’d have to do it for every future item too.

@@zat1245 yeah but future items will only be 1 to *maybe* 5 at a time. it's a relatively small extension of the thematic process they already go through on new items. the upfront work is the far more limiting factor
while i welcome this change, im gonna miss seeing people have Syzygy in their inventories
i really happy with this change, it makes Ornn more "the best Forger", and it fix a really big problem, some items dint have a evolved version and forcing you buy a item can evolve its really problematic, the name was really cool but EVERY item has a upgraded version its even better, I don't know why some people doesn't like this change but idc :p
If only people in soloQ weren't ignoring upgrades altogether... Like almost every match, it's sickening

I think the reason they don't change the name anymore is because they are lazy updating the names every time they rework the entire item system every 5 months.

The upgrade always hits the first slot, for both Ornn and his teammates, its always been like this. @cauecarvalho6996
@@cauecarvalho6996 it upgrades the first viable item from top left to bottom right, been like this since release but as ornn players it feels like 99.9% don't know this and then complain when they get the wrong thing even though I tried to tell them in chat

it was always the first slot item avaliable (meaning if you got 2 that are avaliable for upgrade, it upgraded the 1st one on the inv list, even if it was in 2/3/4th position)
Great change, sucks to see names go but this is for a healthier game, ggwp

1- I understand them not wanting to put new names on the now upgradedable itens cuz its kinda of a lot, but are they gonna remove the old ones?
2- the upgrades available on the itens right now are also around 1000g in value?

about ~1000 gold for his upgrades. It's fair enough considering his kit is weaker than other teamfighting tanks.

They really looked at the bunch of Artifact items added to TFT and said "Hey, what if LoL Ornn could have an arsenal of upgradeable items that is also just as big?" huh?
I will miss the names. I got hyped each patch to see what new epic name each one would have
it would be amazing if we could choose manually which item to upgrade on each teammate. and instead of walking up to them maybe they can make the UI like neeko passive. if you team is trolling with their builds you could secretly push more incentive onto what you think is the correct direction by upgrading crit or attack speed or armour. and technically its still an improvement because they wouldnt have any of this if you hadnt played ornn. thats a change that will make me want to play Ornn way way more.

I would dramatically change Ornn's passive to be this:
Ornn earns 50% of his gold as a special interest only usable in Masterworking items.
At any point in the match, Ornn can buy the "Anvil" item from the shop for 0 gold; Similar to Kalista's black spear.
When Ornn uses the item, an Anvil appears in the selected location near Ornn. While the Anvil exists, Ornn and his allies can interact with the Anvil, opening up a window where they can drag an item to be Masterworked. To Masterwork the item, Ornn and his ally must have a total gold value equivalent to half the shop price of the item. The first Masterwork per champion, including Ornn is free.
When Ornn moves too far from the Anvil, it will return to the shop ready to be repurchased for 0 gold. For his allies, Ornn can only use his special interest value to assist in funding their Masterworks, and not his real personal gold value.
For every Masterwork created during the match, Ornn's skill improves, further amplifying future Masterworks by 5%, up to a maximum of 150% on the 30th Masterwork.
Both players must accept to spend the gold to make the Masterwork.

So lethality upgrades are removed? That was arguably the strongest part, being able to upgrade mpen and lethality for your mage/assassins

Ngl that void staff masterwork would be the only reason id take it over cryptbloom. That 50 extra ap from an upgrade would be huge if I need selfish dmg

Feel like he should be able to pick what item he wants, you kinda can by slotting it first manually but that is so specific most people wont notice or pay attention. I think it should be a free upgrade in the store when they base.

Imagine if you could click a thing say while you’re near an allied structure and you can “set up shop” where other champions could click you to open a little ui where they actually *pay you* for their own upgrades. Like you gain 500 gold for every item they upgrade. (They still spend the 1000)
Or like while ornn is not in combat other champions can use the “shop” through him. Say the jungler finishes just first clear up to top, rather than recall if they still have mana/ health then they can “request” ornn to make an item where he can go through his normal like 3 second animation for each.
(They’d have to request or something as forcing your teammate into a 3 second animation would be a little bad)
just make it like rengar/kindred/neeko passive with your items popping up and you just have to click on the one you want to be upgraded

So the best awnser is to get the most expensive legendary with the less amount of different stats lik IE wich has damage and crit% and rabadons wich has ap so they are the best choices

Since ornn isn't every player on the rift they really need to make it a selection for the player getting upgraded. They already have the UI for when ornn can craft items while not in base, just make that the UI for your legendary items

I didn't know that each upgradeable item had its own unique name. I never really bothered with it except for the juicy stats that it gave me

I used to call The Unspoken Parasite (Jak’Sho’s upgrade) The Unspoken Rizz. With this change, the rizz will truly become unspoken (because the names are gone 😔)

Well sometimes riot employees have passion projects maybe one of them will give names sometimes in the future. Still 9.5/10 change since now you are not forced to build certain items with ornn

The Players should have the same UI as Ornn when he can forge items himself, but only be for upgrading an existing item. This would only pop up when you are close to Ornn and locks in the specified item so the game knows what item to upgrade, or if you don't want a specific upgrade because you don't have the item you want to upgrade yet, you could select none and Ornn doesn't get the ability to upgrade you.
or just add a special boarder around your first slot when ornn is in the game
So instead of few items having unique upgrades, they changed Ornn to be a stat check champ?

0:56 As the player with the 3rd most mastery on Ornn and the player that is probably the happiest about this change in the world I strongly disagree with this suggestion. I don't want my teammates to have to do anything. What if they don't know to do the crafting UI or it confuses them? The way it is now my teammates don't have to do anything with my passive and that's for the best.
Why cant Ornn upgrade his own boots too
This is a win for the winrate but a loss for my love for the champion tbh
