The term mirror match is often thrown around too lightly. Any pair of MCs with somewhat similar qualities facing off against each other immediately gets labelled as a showdown between long lost brothers in flow. In the case of the next release from World Domination 2, the classification might legitimately apply. Ottawa's Charron and England's Cruger share a childlike appearance that has the tendancy to disarm opponents and fans. In reality, both rappers are wolves in sheep's clothing. Charron has quickly gone from an up and comer with loads of potential to one of the most accomplished battlers in the Canadian circuit, winning countless freestyle competitions and awards while building a steady KOTD resume. Cruger, on the other hand, has years of experience as one of the most innovative and original writers in the highly competitive and trend setting British scene. Which one of these patrons of the fountain of youth will find themselves victorious at the biggest rap battle event of the year?

I come back and watch this at least once a year to remind myself of the best rap battle days. Cruger's second round is my favourite in history. Killed it.

The transition from the end of Cruger's 1st verse to the start of Charron's is just uncomfortable. Cruger's rapping at a reasonable volume and enthusiasm and then Charron sounds like he's about to cry from yelling at his big brother for being in his room.

I love the contrast between them both! People think Charron is sick because he's so aggressive whereas Cruger is so confident in his bars he does it in his normal voice!

And thats what sealed the deal on how Cruger beat Charron IMHO.
What happened here is that Charron somewhat underestimated Cruger while Cruger fully prepared for Charron for atleast a round.
This event in general was chalked full of weird unexpected losses. Charron lost to Cruger, Rone lost to Nils, Pat lost to Marv. Like what even

Going back and rewatching a lot of battles to judge them... this one was close but I think Cruger edged it. BARLEY !!! No bias either I'm from Canada. More punches in the third. Been rewatching a lot of Charron battles. After watching his match against Shotgun Suge. Charron would absolutely destroy Cruger now.

I respect how unbiased your opinion is being from Canada. As an unbiased from the USA I still have to disagree. I believe Cruger took the 3rd round, barely even though Charron ended the battle on a great note giving props to fans and saying "how can Cruger affect me when I'm living the dream." Dope. But in my opinion, Charron took the first two...barely. The only way I could see Cruger taking the first round is if the judges took into consideration that whoever goes first has more pressure and whoever goes second has more ammo and rebuttals. Still a hell of a battle. And I agree that Charron would destroy him today.

Round 3 is probably the most destructive to an opponent I have seen in any battle. There is no coming back from that. You just have to see Soul Khans reactions in the background to realise how hard hitting it is,

I don't think so, he also lost to Arcane and Chedda (judged) and had some more recent unjudged battles that he might have lost. I think Charron clearly won the first here, as it was his best round and one of Cruger's worst, and I thought they both had bad second rounds, but then Cruger clearly won the third. Not a body. Charron's first and Cruger's third were the only rounds I'd consider good now. Charron's third is not far off though.

It was a good slept line that was slept on, but bodybag of the century is just a bit of an overstatement.

charron bodied him!!! cruger was just ok... he got crowd favoritism for starting dont flop and thats its... without him so much wouldnt exist so people give respect as they should to him and cheer him on when he spits only mediocre bars, but truth be told if a rich kid that actually spits did it he would be deemed a legend, crugers legacy is what carried him most of this battle and not his skill

Charron clearly got the first round but i gave rounds 2 and 3 to Cruger. He just had slightly better punchlines and more angles and personally, i have never seen anybody else break down charron's style and character like he did. Props to both these dudes. nobody got robbed, it was a close match-up that could've gone either way
