Don Knotts preforms a version of his nervous man routine while introducing Andy Griffith and Tennessee Ernie Ford in the 1967 CBS special Andy Griffith's Uptown-Downtown Show
You can begin to see the flower bud of Mr. Furley starting to develop and peek his head out. What a brilliant comedic actor he was. God bless the Late Great Don Knotts.
That was great! Sort of a combination of Barney Fife and his Man on the Street. I remember Andy said that, when they were short a couple of minutes to complete the AG show, he and Don would just sit down and improvise something. Once you know that, you can spot those scenes, and some of them are classic.
thank you for that treat from a precious time when a person could just be funny and silly without worrying about upsetting any one person or group. Mr Knotts has always been one of my favorite comedians.
‘Not worrying about upsetting any group’? He just did not do it. Because he did not need it. Those who do and complain that ‘you can’t say anything any more these days’ are just weak comedians. There are plenty of talented comedians out there that are funny at nobody’s expense.
Thank you so much for posting this, I love love love Bernard p fife 😂 actually I like all the characters of Andy Griffith show, you know what, I think I am from Mayberry God bless.
Looks like Don had some trolling going on in the audience that day. I hadn’t heard the CBS sting since I was a kid. Good stuff. Thanks for putting up the video.
If you have not already, my advice is to see the movie "The Ghost and Mr. Chicken," as well as "The Incredible Mr. Limpet." Believe me, he was slumming when he did the Furley character.
I can't recall the names at the moment, but I remember as a kid watching a couple of his movies, one where he played an astronaut and the other having to stay in a haunted house, and loving every moment of them. I think I'm going to see if I can find them on a streaming service to bring back some fond memories.
Oh, I just did some searching and completely forgot he did The Incredible Mr. Limpet movie. It's got to be one of the best mixed real life and animated movies ever made!
Yes, Robert Benchley was great and influenced a lot of comedians including Bob Newhart who acknowledged his influence on him and possibly Don Knotts as well!
Don Knotts on Andy Griffith was annoyingly funny, show wouldn’t have been the same without him, it’s kind of sad watching these clips to know that these people are no longer here with us
This guy was so damned talented. We rarely saw this almost elegant aspect of his personality. Amazing.
Good clean family humor. Like watching in on another universe.
Truly a legend! There will never none like him RIP Mr Knotts
I love listening to him talk . Today’s world is a joke compared to the old days
5 Emmys for his role of Barney Fife. AMAZINGLY TALENTED!
You wanna hold it down fella? 🤣 his expressions are priceless.👏👏👏💖💖💖🤣🤣🤣
No one was funnier than Don Knotts❤❤
He was a classic...had the greatest facial expressions.
Let's make a comedy version of "Faceoff" with Don Knott's and Jerry Lewis! 2 Best facial expressions
and sure was poppin his collar 😉
There is no way television would have been the same without this man.
#legend
The little slide he did when he was shoved back out 😂
What an amazing change that took place after he says they aren't ready. True talent.

Absolutely! The Barney Fife character also had this nervous energy too. Great actor.
damn, takes a monumental talent to make all those subtle gestures seem so natural...
Don Knotts...one class act!!

He's always so funny. Can you imagine if we had a couple of comedians that good on SNL how good the show would be.
He should have guest hosted SNL.
He's the funniest character actor ever!
guy was a legend..rip
I loved how well he could play 'nervous.' He put new meaning into the word!
Nervous is what made Don so funny.
Don Knotts and Jim Carrey are the only two people I can think of that could be described as 'living cartoon characters'. xD
Such a genius great comedian and actor. A wonderful person
Man….what a time to be alive ♥️

What a professional. I only thought he was Mr Furley! That was just a bonus act for him.
He was barney fife as well best deputy in mayberry
Barney Fife was his best role.
If you have not already, my advice is to see the movie "The Ghost and Mr. Chicken," as well as "The Incredible Mr. Limpet." Believe me, he was slumming when he did the Furley character.

I'm just glad Red Skelton is returning to his usual time next Tuesday night!
I love DK!!! So funny and "risque" at worst. Good actor as well.
He is spectacular.
I miss Don Knott's.
Don was one of the best !
Omg he looks so young! Rip Mr Furley
Weird seeing Don in a regular suit and tie.....not the "old salt and pepper" and bow tieLOL
"Well... that was Fun wasn't it?"
He reminds me of my best friend
Underrated
Robert Benchley did a great "nervous man" sketch back in the 1920s, called "The Treasurer's Report."
Yes, Robert Benchley was great and influenced a lot of comedians including Bob Newhart who acknowledged his influence on him and possibly Don Knotts as well!
The one and only!!
Angles, boxes, blocks, laylines. That's a New kind of 'family' (group). Thinking at one another simultaneously over vast distances.
Apparently, he was quite the ladies man. It's always the quiet ones...
Does anyone else think John Cryer could have been Don Knotts if he had been born back then?
NO!
Hey, don’t forget the great Red Skelton!
“We surrender, here take the key to the city! Key to my car? Tic tac?”
Mr nip it in the bud
"Hair is crazy curly / flip like 'Mr. Furley.' -Phife Dog
Atta boy luther!!!
Don knots, and robin Williams, should have done a movie together. It would have been comic gold.
Yes mr.knots, had great taste his style of humor was clean. But it was a different time. Mr. Williams, also different in his time.
@@totallysmooth1203 yep . a pos with more talent than you'll ever possess.
Wow, how do you find this kind of Gold?
Merilee Davis lives here, 2019.
Good old clean and funny.
Nip it in the bud

This is meta before meta was meta!
He was playing Barney Fife.
Seems like the sort of joke Andy (Sheriff Taylor) would pull just to make Barney squirm 😝🤓😎✌🏻
Ha ha ha!😂😁😀
I only remember him from scoobydoo
Does any else only know of this dude through scooby doo or at least found him from it.
Nah bro, my grandparents got me into the Andy Griffith show, and that's how I found him.
Did this dude just weaponize nervousness lol
Think Colbert.
Mic Jaggar WOMAN 100%!
MIEL: "me 'L'"
Bahahhahaha
what's mr.furley doing dressed like that
Amazing comedian. Amazing man. He is a.big part of my childhood. And I never watch andy griffith. Never. Not for any reason.
I look like this guy. No, it doesn't get me dates.
I wonder if he ever met any of the Three Stooges actors.
Don Knots looks like that character from Lord of the ring, the one who had his precious stolen, who was a cannibal.
That's funny. When we first saw the LOTR movie, I asked my wife, "Is that supposed to be Don Knotts?"
I always thought his voice was a bit whiny and high like in family Guy
They do him nearly spot on in family guy, but he probably sounded very different in person.
USA frontera esta horizon pour Gaza
before furley turned into a ladies man
The Love God?
Is anyone else her because cinemasins mentioned that chicken little was don’s last vocal performance as the turkey mayor before he died...?
