Metal Slug is an SNK video game that I grew up playing, specifically Metal Slug 1 and Metal Slug 2. The robot mode from that figure is based on a concept art of an SV-001 having a humanoid form for the first game, but then was recycled for the Slug Gunner from Metal Slug 5

Reminds me of when Sweet Tooth was able to transform into a Robot in one Twisted Metal game.
(When I say "Sweet Tooth", I mean the actual car the Clown drives. It's a common misconception that the Clown is named "Sweet Tooth", ((Though, you could technically call him that.)), when his actual name is Needles.)
God, I love mash ups like this. It's even better when both sides are equally and lovingly represented.

I think that is the best handling of tank tracks I've ever seen on a transforming robot. It always bothers me and reinforces the sense that the tracks are fake when the tracks that split in the center, and then are awkwardly positioned in an impossibly unrealistic way on the robot.

Have you noticed how to scale Figma Madoka accidentally is? You'd expect her to somersault into the top of it and the Metal Slug to obediently spring to life like an excited dog.
Honestly it looks just like the Bonaparte from Tank Police, idk which property came first though

This honestly seems like something that would appear in a metal slug game. Just love the originality of it and how it does come with dual miniguns.
I believe there was a mech like vehicle in one of the other metal slug games that kinda looks similar to this figure.
At 11:28, that is a reference to the old artworks and concept art for the first Metal Slug. Unless Jobby knew about it, the original game was supposed to have transforming SV-001s, which looks like that. However, that idea was scrapped and instead was turned into SVW-001, The Walker Type S. Gunner from Metal Slug 5.

I was not expecting this figure to be this good, it has great poseability, its transformation is complex but genius, and the fact that it is an original design means that you don’t really have to worry about source material (at least in robot form).

On the back of the robot mode, I'd recommend rotating the smokestacks out, which gives you more space to use the double hinge on the butt-flap to clean the backside up a bit!

The reason it exists is a piece of artwork from game's the concept art, it's impressive they didnt make one years ago. That goes for the entirety of the Metal Slug vehicle inventory. They at least released some basic model kits recently.

The transformation is surprisingly clean. That thread folding into the thigh was nice

This is the most satisfying, clean, and slick transformation I have ever seen.........Beautiful
Another great review! This transformer isn't based on anything from the game from my knowledge, though I never played any of the games out of the main run and guns. There is a vehicle similar in Metal Slug 5 called the Slug Gunner. The Slug Gunner was a bulkier bipedal mech with a gatling arm and a pile-driver arm for melee. It had a cannon in the "chest" with no head, just the camera( looked very similar to when Jobby had the mech's torso reconverted to tank mode). In all, the Gunner was like a slower but "tankier" player- it could jump, turn around, fired the gatling forward or straight up, and would melee enemies when they were close enough. It did transform to a treaded mode when you ducked! Tank mode was a lot faster, but at the gatling and cannon would be fixed aiming in one direction.
The animated Blitzwing has a tank mode that is so small and chunky that it is literally screaming that it’s a metal slug reference

Got mine last week. Surprisingly very very good! Very poseable. solid ratchet joints. feels heavy. and yes! LED on both cannon and head-no switch love it. Retail price also reasonable. Instant fav.
Now, Cang Dao don't stop here, they should make Harrier Jet too.
Oh hell YEAH! I grew up with this game as a franchise (same goes to its fellow gun-n-run from NES "Contra"), and I shocked about this cool transformable toy based on its 1st concept. Mind-blowing 🤯
I never thought what was once concept art of a metal slug transformer was just that, until this came in blasting my expectations in the best way possible.

Oh man metal slug was one of my favorite childhood games there was something so satisfying about the explosions and the sprite work even though I sucked at it and just went at everything guns blazing until I won it’s just one of those timeless games with sprites that still hold up very well today

It looks awesome in both modes, but I was surprised when the robot mode didn’t feature the main cannon on the chest.
LOVE IT when a toy is dense with high quality material and functionality. The engineering involved to make such beauty must’ve been challenging.

Surprising yet amazing to see one of the joke concept art of Metal Slug became a reality. Would be so happy if they could make Black Hound version of it from MS5
I don't know if it's because you're having such a fun time with this figure or that the figure itself looks great, but I really enjoy this review. I've enjoyed every review on the channel, but this one really resonated for some reason. If only I wasn't broke and could buy the figure because it does look incredible.

The mono eye combined with the shoulder pads make me think it was inspired by the Zaku.
This toy reminds me of a concept I came up with a long time ago. It was where gamers could go into the game world and could use armors that give them the powers of specific game characters. For example: Galaga armor gives you a robo space suit with guns and thrusters, and the ability to turn into a space ship, for flying at high speeds through space!
I just got mine yesterday and it’s an amazing figure! As for the ankle tilt, the ankles are actually on a slider. It’s pretty tight, and doesn’t extend the feet that much, but it makes a big difference to the overall ankle articulation.
There are reports on showzstore of the antennae being broken. They are incredibly fragile. In addition, early releases have the crotch plate mis-assembled upside down. As long as you don't receive a figure with these problems right out of the box it is a fantastic piece.

AWESOME! I've always loved the Metal Slug tank design. I didn't think I'd care for it's apparent robot transformation but... then I saw the detail in articulation I was blown away, This transformational Metal Slug need to exist in something else than a toy. =D
First time in a while, seeing a figure receiving good compliments, and a review. The figure seems to have great detail. Planning on getting one or two of the shirts from the Black Friday sales, they seem pretty cool.

It's amazing, just opened mine now and stumbled across this video for instructions on how it transforms! It is exactly as in this video, well made and just so cool. It looks so good in vehicle mode, as if it doesn't transform (you cannot notice any seams or anything to suggest that it transforms). Every part of it is well thought out so that even if you view it from the back - you can't see any reverse side of the plastic mould or something like that, it all looks like a solid model in either robot mode or vehicle mode. Although on mine the batteries are full but the light's aren't very bright in a well lit room.
It is well worth buying even as a Metal Slug fan who just want's vehicle 001 as a display piece, because it is twice the size of the m.s evolve model but looks so detailed! I think by giving it a little custom paint job for some of the parts it would look very realistic and true to the game.
I love the energy in this video, and funny (especially the part with the groin part sticking out 5:44 ahaha) and shows every detail you would want to know.
That final frame had me wondering if this was inspired by that concept art but I guess so which is awesome.
Now if only we get a red repaint...
