That is clearly wrong and I so disagree I’m part of lgbt community but I can see a point in how this companies are using lgbt for their agendas and some material they produce is inappropriate but I just hope their is a balance later on in the future. as someone who is employed at Target, i can say for a FACT that they did make changes because of the threats that were being received. i had to completely remerchandise an endcap in our dollar section that had pride stuff on it because it was all recalled. this is real people in my own store were receiving calls at the service desk and receiving threats and its absolutely sickening.
I was a southern Baptist kid in Florida. I had a normal childhood wasn’t ever exposed or around lgbt people, sex of any kind, and I wasn’t abused. By the age of 10 I knew I was “different” and by 11 I was already fantasizing about my male school friends. I definitely thought I was going to a lake of fire but I finally came out in 8th grade in my all white southern small town school. It set my heart free and I never felt happier.
I literally didn’t know gay people existed until I was a teenager and didn’t know trans people existed until I was a junior in high school. As soon as I had the language I was like “oh wait that’s the words for who I am”

Target employee here. Most of the pride stuff company wide is going/has gone salvage or is recalled and from what I can see, at least at my store, more goes recall every so often. It's so mentally draining for everyone in my store to have to deal with these shitheads who either call to bitch about it or come in and bitch about it. While I'm cishet my store has a LOT of LGBTQ+ team members and leads and it sucks seeing how betrayed they feel from corporate's decision with this. We do not make enough money to deal with these clowns multiple times a day every day

The physically violent threats are not common though. They get blown up because of the seriousness, which is completely understandable, no one should be doing psychotic shit like that, but it's not common across all stores in the country. They only took most of it down company because the stock dipped, despite what the PR tells you lol. Initially only a few stores who had been getting threatened with guns/bombs had taken theirs down, but then it moved company wide when the stock dipped, thats where the betrayal feeling originates from based off what my gay coworkers told me. Corporate gave direction to leadership to silence talks about the decision too. Its all about the money.

True. I didn't hear about this until they pointed it out in news articles. But to be fair, I believe most LGBT people just want to be treated like normal people. Most of them probably are not buying rainbows and unicorns on everything. Most of that stuff isn't suitable for the work environment. So, even if there is a bunch of stuff like the conservative guy pointed out, the stuff is just sitting there. However, he basically just showed people what is available.
Can confirm, as someone who works at Target, they did actually remove a lot of items of the collection from the salesfloor as well as recalling all of their Bullseye (Target Five Below corner) pride items. Sadly, a lot of the items they removed were the ones for trans pride specifically (swimming suits, "trans people exist" shirts, pronoun candles,etc.), which definitely stings. You will also have a considerably hard time finding the items on the Target app/online. It's like they never existed and it's rlly sad.
My favorite thing is asking “Where is the straight section?” Bitch all the rest of the store is straight… like… they do pride as a way to earn more money for one month and these dummies are too insecure. Like damn mind your business.

10:34 god, yeah. i'm a trans woman and i'm still learning to not hate myself. my parents are really conservative and basically taught me to hate every aspect of myself and doubt myself at every turn. so when it clicked that i was trans, instead of making me happier to know myself more, it made me so depressed and angry at myself. so much to the point it turned me into a really bitter person and i took out all my anger and bitterness on all my friends who were only trying to support me. i can still slip back into that mindset sometimes if i'm not careful and it just ruins my entire day no matter what's going on. that being said, having parents who/getting indoctrinated into a religion that teaches you to hate yourself sucks!

I completely understand this feeling. I grew up in a religious household too and was told all my life that being gay or trans was not okay. I was taught that I couldn’t trust my own emotions or feelings and it led to years of feeling different but not knowing why. Only after I became less homophobic/transphobic did I realize I was a lesbian and trans! My mom outed me earlier this year and it’s hard not being bitter and angry all the time, especially when you have cis friends who don’t understand your experience and can live their lives without being afraid that their parents will find out. Or that their access to healthcare won’t be taken away. I hope you’re living in a safe state/country and remember to give yourself forgiveness and grace. It takes a long time to untangle and unlearn religious shit you were indoctrinated into as a kid. I would totally recommend Fundie Fridays RUclips channel! They talk a lot about Christian fundamentalism and it helped me deconstruct.

Back when W. was trying to ban gay marriage, I worked summers at a Hallmark shop. Despite being able to buy religious cards for literally every occasion, we used to have Karens and Kevins complain about the entire 2 wedding cards we sold that said "spouse" instead of husband or wife. Things were somewhat calmer and more civil 20 yrs ago and it still felt like "I don't get paid enough to deal with this bs." I can't even imagine today... these employees deserve hazard pay.

as someone who is employed at Target, i can say for a FACT that they did make changes because of the threats that were being received. i had to completely remerchandise an endcap in our dollar section that had pride stuff on it because it was all recalled. this is real people in my own store were receiving calls at the service desk and receiving threats and its absolutely sickening.

I was a southern Baptist kid in Florida. I had a normal childhood wasn’t ever exposed or around lgbt people, sex of any kind, and I wasn’t abused. By the age of 10 I knew I was “different” and by 11 I was already fantasizing about my male school friends. I definitely thought I was going to a lake of fire but I finally came out in 8th grade in my all white southern small town school. It set my heart free and I never felt happier.

Target employee here. Most of the pride stuff company wide is going/has gone salvage or is recalled and from what I can see, at least at my store, more goes recall every so often. It's so mentally draining for everyone in my store to have to deal with these shitheads who either call to bitch about it or come in and bitch about it. While I'm cishet my store has a LOT of LGBTQ+ team members and leads and it sucks seeing how betrayed they feel from corporate's decision with this. We do not make enough money to deal with these clowns multiple times a day every day

The physically violent threats are not common though. They get blown up because of the seriousness, which is completely understandable, no one should be doing psychotic shit like that, but it's not common across all stores in the country. They only took most of it down company because the stock dipped, despite what the PR tells you lol. Initially only a few stores who had been getting threatened with guns/bombs had taken theirs down, but then it moved company wide when the stock dipped, thats where the betrayal feeling originates from based off what my gay coworkers told me. Corporate gave direction to leadership to silence talks about the decision too. Its all about the money.

A lot of the people I worked with there were really cool and a pleasure to be around, which is a rarity in the workplace. Can confirm, as someone who works at Target, they did actually remove a lot of items of the collection from the salesfloor as well as recalling all of their Bullseye (Target Five Below corner) pride items. Sadly, a lot of the items they removed were the ones for trans pride specifically (swimming suits, "trans people exist" shirts, pronoun candles,etc.), which definitely stings. You will also have a considerably hard time finding the items on the Target app/online. It's like they never existed and it's rlly sad.

10:34 god, yeah. i'm a trans woman and i'm still learning to not hate myself. my parents are really conservative and basically taught me to hate every aspect of myself and doubt myself at every turn. so when it clicked that i was trans, instead of making me happier to know myself more, it made me so depressed and angry at myself. so much to the point it turned me into a really bitter person and i took out all my anger and bitterness on all my friends who were only trying to support me. i can still slip back into that mindset sometimes if i'm not careful and it just ruins my entire day no matter what's going on. that being said, having parents who/getting indoctrinated into a religion that teaches you to hate yourself sucks!
As someone who is scared of transitioning due to conservative parents and the people surrounding me, I relate to this so muchh.. also sending you love. You've got it girl 🥹❤️

I completely understand this feeling. I grew up in a religious household too and was told all my life that being gay or trans was not okay. I was taught that I couldn’t trust my own emotions or feelings and it led to years of feeling different but not knowing why. Only after I became less homophobic/transphobic did I realize I was a lesbian and trans! My mom outed me earlier this year and it’s hard not being bitter and angry all the time, especially when you have cis friends who don’t understand your experience and can live their lives without being afraid that their parents will find out. Or that their access to healthcare won’t be taken away. I hope you’re living in a safe state/country and remember to give yourself forgiveness and grace. It takes a long time to untangle and unlearn religious shit you were indoctrinated into as a kid. I would totally recommend Fundie Fridays RUclips channel! They talk a lot about Christian fundamentalism and it helped me deconstruct.

Back when W. was trying to ban gay marriage, I worked summers at a Hallmark shop. Despite being able to buy religious cards for literally every occasion, we used to have Karens and Kevins complain about the entire 2 wedding cards we sold that said "spouse" instead of husband or wife. Things were somewhat calmer and more civil 20 yrs ago and it still felt like "I don't get paid enough to deal with this bs." I can't even imagine today... these employees deserve hazard pay.
Target needs to hire the Pinkerton Agency and treat these people like they do union agitators... trespass them on sight, etc etc.
