This is the first episode of my becoming a tattoo artist series! Today I'm going over what my day to day is like at the tattoo shop, the drawing classes I've been taking, we go to the art supply store together, I show you some of my art and talk about overall how everything has been going! Really excited to share this journey with you all!! I hope you all enjoy this video :)

Getting a small pallette of watercolour is actually really good, not only money wise but it helps you with understanding colour theory and how to mix the colours you need. I hope you got some watercolour paper it does not need to be expensive paper at the beginning but the paper is more important using watercolour than the quality of the colours itself.I learned it the hard way and don't want you to get discouraged by it. :D all your supplies are great choices by the way 👍.
canson watercolor paper works wonders and is pretty cheap

I am an art student from the UK, sometimes I forget the joy art and being creative brings to me, so seeing your wholesome experiences and beginning in art made me so happy :)
🎨 I have little talent when it comes to drawing, so I think the work that you shared looks great. I'm also impressed by your positive attitude towards keeping things clean and sanitary. I'm sure the shop and the customers really appreciate it, even if nobody ever mentions it to you. It is a very thankless job.

as a professional artist who used to work traditionnaly as a student, the art supplies you got are great ! i would have picked exactly the same stuff
I've worked in an art supply store for the longest time and I also love creating art. I think you're off to a great start with the classes and resources you use and the Windsor and newton water colors are fantastic. (A lot cheaper than Schmincke but they come very close quality wise). It might happen that the Farber pens will fade and smudge when using with the watercolors if you intended that. I recommend Pigma Sakura Micron pens in that case or something alcohol based. I really appreciate you showing your actual sketches and where you’re starting from. You seem off to a strong start and it’s nice to see something more realistic instead of when people say they aren’t good and then show beautiful, full sketches. I used to draw a ton when I was younger and would like it get back at it, going to look into the class!

i'm also new to tattooing myself. First learned to tattoo 2 years ago but only been tattooing professionally for 2 months. Really glad to see you picking this up, almost feels like another person reliving my beginning. It's going to be a lot of work but i wish you all the luck for your upcoming journey.

Glad to see you pursuing this! Your passion for tattooing really shows through your channel and I hope you can become an artist some day. I myself have been drawing for over nine years now and currently studying an art major at college, and although I initially intended (and kind of still do) to pursue concept art or character design, I really wish I could become a tattoo artist, even though I don't really have high hopes because my style doesn't fit tattoos.
Also, though I'm not a professional or anything, my advice is to keep drawing and experimenting! In regards to art supplies, I've found that supplies don't really matter as long as you get a good use of them, tho I mostly work in digital and haven't touched traditional art for a while. There are a lot of good cheap art supplies on Amazon, for example. But in the end, use what feels right and more comfortable for you, since the most important thing is drawing as much as you can and having fun! 🎨
We use a lot of similar art supplies! I'm excited to see more of this series, look forward to seeing some of the flash designs 🎨

I'm really looking forward to this series! There's so much content out there on RUclips and in other places that's educational, done from the perspective of an expert teaching people how to do a thing, but there's nowhere near as much "following the journey" of total novice into a new career/skill/endeavor. Even if people aren't interested in becoming a tattoo artist per se, they still might really benefit from watching something like this for inspiration. 🎨

literally around this time last year I realized I wanted to pursue tattooing , I was just like u not knowing where to start and always getting upset when something didn’t come out perfect. it’s a difficult journey when u constantly compare ur work to others, it’s still something that I do now as I work on my portfolio. It was so exciting watching ur haul bc I felt that exact way. Awesome series!!! I haven't done my art haul yet but my job is super easy and I sit around all day. So I've been trying to draw traditional daggers, flowers, and nails as much as I can. Usually 8-10 of those a day. Been at it for 2 weeks now!

I was pulled back into the graphic design world, I meet with a marketing director for this new company, so we will see where that goes. I really, been thinking about getting into fashion design, so I am working towards that as well. I am still working from home and totally feel what you said about getting ready for the day. I've done 4 tattoos so far including on myself and about to do my 5th tattoo on Wednesday, on a high school friend.
I'm drawing since I remember myself and can tell you that if you're enjoying your art, it's incredible.
The most special thing in my mind is you give people your art for life. It matters.
About the phone calls and the people that you need to deal with- yeah. People are weird sometimes... We need to learn how to deal with it 🤷🏻♀️

I bought a Windsor and newton cotman watercolor pallet back in 2016. I still use it consistently to this day. It’s also easy to refill. I would also recommend getting a water brush if you want to draw on the go!
