    Maintenance with removing old stems has become something for us to remember, if we leave a medium to tall chunk of dead stem the corn can rot out, so we cut the steam half way after harvest and then we cut the steam right above the corm a few months later once it is dried/fully dead.

      Y’all are making me wanna move to FL. Don’t know where’s the best place to live a simple life with a great permaculture garden and close to the beach, but I’ve been invited to check out Dunedin (I love their bagpipes band). I’ll probably come out in July after Costa Rica. Any suggestions would be great. Come on, Pete!! Get those funny shirts printed, plssssss. And Matt, did u say #RackingOut? 😂🤣😅

      Ian Kalani bring it! Dunedin is pretty awesome. I wouldn’t look any further north.

    I don't want to jinx anybody but Florida did have a wonderful winter this year. No frost here in Central Florida either. My banana trees are growing with a vengeance in Feb.

      @@MasterKenfucius- I actually saw the forecast before you wrote the comment... my sense of humor is hit and miss.
      Nice area you're in.
      I don't like to name names, but if you head west until you can't any more, then go north for a bit... that general region.
      Current forecast says 35 as a low here... too close for comfort and probably fatal for my optimistically planted seedlings.

    • @MasterKenfucius
      @MasterKenfucius 5 лет назад

      @@allanturpin2023 I'm sorry to hear that. As far as the "Nice area" comment, well, it's great temperature wise, BUT, it's still right on the path of just about any Hurricane coming to the East Coast of Florida, and that sucks for my plants! ;) I have to say I got a little scared when you mentioned that cold... all my mangoes, lychees, Surinam cherries, mulberries, jaboticabas, and avocados are flowering. It would really stink if we got a freeze at this point in time!

    Any chance you could do a video on nitrogen fixers, like how you position them in your orchard and if you have seen benefits from any of them in particular.

    When you say that the first harvest rack is often small, would it be the first rack is on the "grandfather" and subsequent larger racks are on the father and child?

      @@WhatsRipening If its panama you should definitely remove the clump. Here's a resource that can help with ID. A cross section is the easiest way to tell from what I've heard.
