I always have maxed walls before hitting the next th but the walls are the last of my priorities in upgrading, so I'm always ending up with lab, hero and wall upgrades before reaching the next th

As a result I have dropped to silver II, but I have also upgraded over 250 walls to lvl 14, farming over 1 000 000 000 resources
Walls are important but not as it used to be bc now a days all attackers are edragon spammers or super dragon spammers like wow and if someone use a ground attack they have super wallbreakers who 1 shot every wall so yes and let's not forget seige machines and super giants
You should have taken "time taken to destroy the defense" into consideration. With high level walls, it takes a lot more time, resulting into possible time fail

i think what we have to understand out of this is that it's important to have a good balance in your village (like you have to upgrade walls and defenses and not only one of them)

for casual player maybe you can go easy on the wall. But if you plan to be a valuable war player, upgrade the wall. The wall does not add much to the war potential calculation, so for example a TH 10 with max def and max wall is basically have similar war potential as TH 10 with max def and lvl 1 wall for the war match calculation. The same can be said for the traps, i does not do much but a 99% is still a 2 star.
Tbh a mix of both because you’re not always gonna have maxed defenses unless your maxed (which I doubt) but a high level defense with a med-high level wall is fine enough

I want to point out, that the Control actually changed throughout... the question was: “Max level Defence, VS Max level Walls” The control was the maxed cannon with low level walls, and the low level cannon with maxed walls. In order to do a proper experiment, the maxed cannon needed to stay the same, while the wall level slowly increased- and the maxed level walls needed to stay the same, as the cannon level increased.

Yeah exactly, Wall Breakers/Super Wall Breakers, EQ Spells, Jump Spells, Hog Riders and Grand Warden can straight up jump over them without a spell, Siege Machines which I haven't even unlocked yet but look cool as hell, I wish walls got a small update to at least allow some level of fortification like an increase in health but have to be re-fortified manually after each time they're destroyed in a defense (similar to how traps used to work)
There is so many ways to deal with them to balance out the fact that, if you didn’t used any of the methods described to get rid of walls (including flying and jumping troops) good luck getting through the base and/or ever achieving 50%, let alone getting past 20% destruction.

walls are not for defense, they are for intimidation and funneling. if you see a max TH12 with lvl 3 walls then you are going to want to attack it more than a max TH11 with max walls. the funneling is used because ground troops don't want to go through walls but this is secondary because everyone has super wallbreakers, siege machines etc. the added defense is just a bonus really, you only ever see it's impact on low level townhalls.
If youre wanting to rush, just get lvl 8 walls and shoot it straight to th15. Walls are much to expensive after 8 to care about if youre rushing for max army

Me with defenses of th9 and walls 12 and some 13 with scatter shot level 2 ,crossbow level 8, infernos level 8 and air defense level 11 max of th13 I'm a engineer TH13 only high damage defenses maxed and when my heroes end I will upgrade mortars and bomb towers
honestly walls aren't worth prioritizing at all. On higher levels they get insanely expensive, i only upgrade them if i have both my grand warden and my lab busy and i still have almost full elixir storages. Just focus on defenses first.

As a TH15, walls are not worth prioritizing at all, only upgrade walls when your sitting on max resources and you don’t have any builders available

You do need a decent leveled wall though. Something like 2-3 levels below the max for your TH in the very least.
