My Dad was the last man working at William Pit 1964-67 - Monitoring the gas and pumps until it closed and then he went to Haig pit. We have the report on this disaster from papers and photographs belonging to one pf the policemen in this footage, the late PC Durham.

My grandad worked at the pits at Egremont l think it was the Florence mine had a nasty accident he passed in 83 l was 8 Fred Duke served at Dunkirk then stayed in Germany until 1949 helped rebuild. He was a lorry driver after the war and lived at Moor Row brilliant video brave men. Rest in peace to you all.

My grandma was friends with someone who lost her daddy to this accident. So sad, but this girl went on to be like a younger sister to my grandma.

My sons great grandad William Johnson of Trumpet Rd Cleator was killed aged just 27. His grandma was a little girl when it happened, it took place on her birthday.
