Spot on ! … our government lacks so much support to local industries for not supporting companies that make great military equipment locally right in our backyard . … yes contracts are needed desperately, but I don’t know if our government can do that successfully, I see our government being very out of touch .

I would be happy to create a defence oriented company that supports our ADF if the government gives me a loan without equity without interest over the next 25 years & based on projected profits & capabilities into the future, I and many other Australian people would love an opportunity to have thier own company, serve our country and provide for ourselves with the support of our own government, sound good?

We absolutely need a change of government 1st !
The major 4 parties have to GO FOR GOOD !
One nation is our best chance ( we don’t have time on our side )
We need major change FAST .
The whole country needs to mobilise into a emergency war footing, national service to replace the dole or any benefits .
Prisoners become cheap hard labour, reconstruction of our old railways.
National service & volunteer civilian service.
Defence industry / all national infrastructure to be commonwealth owned again .
Weapons licensing should be stripped from the power mad police . They should focus on policing criminals, not making criminals out average Aussies.
Australian defence needs an active civilian Participation, including industry & R&D . ( that doesn’t mean everyone has a AR15 )
      That will do for starters.

@@concernedaussie1330 in my own little way I have come to see that 73 was a major turning point in our country. Whitlam & Barnard (?) held all portfolios for a few days. W wanted the Australia Police (he wasted so much money - AP marked uniform hung in our wardrobe for years; stationery was even printed). Since then I've noticed legislation passed tended to benefit corporations not Australian citizens. It was, I think, prior to this censorship laws were changed.
A while back I asked some executive level public servants just who ran the country & their response was 'corporations' but in recent times, as I've listened to Senate questioning & PS response, I'm sensing it's a particular level of PS answering to another entity.
Also, I think there has been abuse of Parlismentary rules & processes which I would like to delve into - other things on mind at moment.
Your nana's quote was often used but not completed '... and God help those caught helping themselves'.
You are right, we don't sit on our backsides waiting for God to act because He has given that authority to us along with gifts to help ourselves & each other - if we choose to do so

The country needs to mobilise strategically.
The nation needs to be told the truth of our dire defence situation!
A request for civilian volunteers to step forward should be made .
And those volunteers should have a seat at the table , to discuss how we most efficiently can volunteer our time & set goals & get moving forwards.
Volunteers should be exempt from national service or conscription call up.
A merit / time served stimulus package be available to volunteers. & volunteers should supply their own kit , tax free of course.
If we are to have a domestic military industry, it can be started & driven ( initially ) by the civilian volunteers.
With national service kicking in down the track .
Australia lacks , fuel , strategic logistical redundancy & infrastructure.
Aircraft, vehicles, littoral attack & patrol vessels , missiles & anti air weapons of every kind .
Australia has no air raid / bomb shelters ( easy fix ) cellars , strong rooms , basements .
Defending our continent is actually fairly easy if one has an imagination.
Look at the skills of the 4x4 , drag racers & hot rodders just as an example.
By uniting creative minds around a common goal , we can do this.
Our citizens volunteer’s should have a healthy competitive relationship with the full time defence force . Most likely bordering on hatred ( especially from the full time force )
The goals of the civilian force could be to achieve more with less as an example.
With systems based around our personal 4x4 vehicles, utes , personal water craft, light bush / float plains .
Steam trains that operate on our old inland railway network.
    Cheers.

Australia has enjoyed generations of prosperity so where is the defence capability to show for all this wealth?
Governments in this country on both sides of politics are elected and then promise all sorts of outcomes, only to do nothing while they serve out their time in office before passing the problem on to the next government who then repeat the same process. Labour sat on the submarine question when they were last in office for six years and did nothing before passing it on to the Coalition government who then lost another nine years. That is why we won't have any submarines to replace the Collins class until the 2040’s.
Words mean nothing, anyone can say words. What matters in the end is real military capability which is why China is busily arming itself today. We have been badly served by both sides of politics in this country.

By definitions identified in the Geneva Convention, Australia is still in a "technical" state of war. The Armistice in place that halted the fighting on the Korean peninsula is NOT a Peace Treaty. The ANZUS treaty indicates Australia has an obligation that remains to this very day, unfulfilled, and as such increases the ever increasing undesirability of remaining a Participant (eg:WA) in the Commonwealth, operating outside of its designed intent.
