As long as the documents are complete, claims can be issued as fast as 24hrs provided that the claim is beyond the 2-year contestability period and the policy is not lapsed or has never been in a lapsed status.
There are Sun Life forms that the insured's physician needs to sign, at meron din naman attachment required from the end of the hospital such as laboratory tests and medical abstract, etc. Iba-iba yan depende sa type of insurance na kinuha and claim ni client.
For reference, here's the list of requirements for claims: www.sunlife.com.ph/en/about-us/how-to-file-a-claim-video/

How many documents to apply in sun life?

@@superadmin01 from the link I provided, requirements are grouped according to the Name of the Policy na kinuha. So you get to filter outright which illnesses are covered for that policy and which are not.
For example: Sun Fit and Well Advantage Cancer Claim - Ovarian
      Basic Requirements:
      1. Forms downloadable from Sun Life portal: Claimant’s Statement, Authority to Investigate (if within contestability period), Attending physicians statement
      2. Hospital Records - admitting history or discharge summary
Since cancer claim, these will be required further:
      1. Surgical/Histopath
      2. Biopsy/endoscopy
To save time when processing claims, its good to review first yung list (link below). If that illness is covered nung plan na kinuha.
As I experience, tumatagal ang claims kasi most likely its the relatives na walang idea kung ano ba yung plan na kinuha ni insured… sila yung ngpprocess. May instances kasi na pabalik-balik ang docs bc the relatives are expecting that the client got a comprehensive health coverage, pero basic life insurance lang pala ang kinuha. If the beneficiary/relatives also don’t have a copy of the policy nung insured, they will be requested to provide proof of relationship before the claim is to be processed.
I would suggest, once may Insurance Policy na eh to be transparent about it sa family members. Give them physical or ecopy ng policy mo so when the time comes, it will be easy for them and for the company na rin.

This is the problem in the PH when it comes to getting claims you still need to submit alot of documents in order to get your money back. That's why I am hesitant to get insurance for my parents. Here in the US, we just give the hospital our health insurance number and we're good to go. No need to submit any documents to health insurance because it's the hospital's job to do it.

For hospital linked insurance, that’s HMO. Upon admission, you’re covered na up to a certain amount provided that you’re admitted to a partner hospital and partner doctor of your HMO. The purpose of the Critical Illness insurance is to augment the HMO coverage - the payout is direct to you not the hospital. That’s why need to submit documents. If you have both, you can claim from both HMO and CI insurance. HMO pays the hospital. And the CI claim, paid to you.
The advantage of CI talaga is it’s long term (mostly lifetime coverage) which most HMOs in the country cannot offer.
For CI - I pay for 10years - fixed annual payment, same price sya yearly, then covered for life na ako. Cons - compared to HMO annual premium mas mahal to. Pero kasi lifetime naman na coverage.
For HMO - May age limit kasi at around 60yo di na pwede mag renew. Annual renewal din sya, and the older we are, the more expensive this gets.
Personally, I have both. Yung CI… narereserve ko for my elderly days or if healthy, edi death benefit ko nalang for my future family. Or just in case while i’m young at ma diagnose with CI, my HMO can pay for the hospital and my CI payout I can use to buy meds and other needs outside the hospital coverage.
      -
Pero fr, nalulungkot ako isipin na i’m paying taxes plus ang laki ng deduction ko sa PhilHealth, yet mas useful for me ang HMO and CI in the Philippines :( kung hindi mandatory ang PhilHealth, i would opt out. That’s your advantage talaga oversease… better health benefits 🫶 I hope PH gets to that level someday!

Dagdag ko pala, pag HMO and admitted ka naman sa partner hospitals wala ng docs na need :) only your membership # or HMO ID will do. 😁

    • @ChaGomezYT

Sun LifeAssure is a term type of insurance. Example: 1M ang Face Amount... either upon death (Life Insurance) or upon diagnosis of critical illness ang payout nito, whichever occurs first.
However, pwede ka mag add ng optional Accidental Death Benefit at an additional cost syempre. If you add this rider, then the payout if accident ang cause of death will be... 1M (Life Insurance) PLUS the 1M ADB. If the client didn't pay for the additional ADB coverage, then yung basic na 1M Face Amount lang ang marereceive ng beneficiary nya.

@@joetraveler5609 if kumuha ng Accidental Death Benefit (ADB), then yes.. it will be 2M. 1M from the ADB... plus 1M from the basic Life Insurance coverage.

As long as yung diagnosis po eh andun sa mga CI na nakastate? Salamat po
