ABOUT THE BOOT GUY: The boot guy reviews started out as my way to help people make better buying decisions when it came to buying footwear ONLINE. I wanted to be the go-to guy on the net when people had questions about boots and gear.

That chainsaw warning was a nice touch.
Had my old pair of Carolinas for almost 3 and a half years, most of that time was for landscaping but they were super comfortable being on my feet all day and held up really well, I just ordered a pair of these boots and I hope I like them as much as my old ones. The old ones were not with the overtime system, and I'm really only getting new ones because I kind of drag my heels when i walk so they are lopsided on the old ones.
I have the waterproof version of these and they are my favorite boots I've ever had. I do commercial HVAC so I'm not putting them through stuff a lot of guys are, but I put them through their paces. Two slight issues I've had with the overtime system. One being the top layer of the insole has come off on both pairs I have bought (one pair is their Maximus 2). It happened the first day I wore them. Spray glued them and no more issues. The other issue I have had was the insole wearing out quickly. I'm only 6'1'' 210lbs and rotate between my boots. Overall... Great durable and comfortable boots. Definitely recommend for the money and durability.
Junk they only lasted my 2 months. Junk.
Got these boots. Break in was pretty tough, but the fit and feel was super comfortable after. Now trying the Carolina lineman’s. I can already tell break in will be worse than the overtime’s, but I’m hoping the end for will be just as comfortable.
I like the warning about the comp toe. You should review the Chippewa Super Series Logger #25388 or 25381.
I just bought these and returned them for the non comp toe. The boot is really heavy. Not having the comp toe saved a little wait. But these boots are so comfortable. Hopefully they work well in the winter. Great video
These things are slick af in the winter. I love these boots but I've almost busted my ass so many times on the job bc of them.
I have always had chippewa American super loggers. Just bought a pair of carolina 9851's (same as 53's just lined with 600 grams thinsulate). I love these! Just as comfy as my chips and cost 130 bux less! I saw your review 20 minutes after buying them and it reinforced my good feelings of these.
I bought 3 of them one of my most favorite boots of all time
It's hard to beat a logger style boot for extra heavy duty use and abuse. I have three pairs of loggers in my boot rotation selection. I have a pair of Whites USA Smoke Jumper lace to toe. I also have a pair of Red Wing USA 218 LoggerMax and Red Wing USA 899. I love them all!!
I have some 7522s and I love them. They are very similar.
I bought a pair of redwing loggers (4420) and they are superior to the Carolinas I bought. Redwing has their orthotic insole which is an additional $75 but is super comfy for people like me who have high arches.
I had the same setup and lasted me 2.5 years. Just got these Carolinas and they seem better made.
I see Carolina advertisements everywhere now, wonder how much of that cost is going into the price of the boot. Hmm??
I have a pair of Carolina Logger boots and they do make really good boots. I just cant get used to that high heel logger style. To me that high heel feel is just uncomfortable. They are extremely well made and all other aspects of the boot are very comfortable other then that. I should have purchased the regular boot heel versions bc when I have heavy work to do I always end up grabbing a different pair of boots, so my new carolinas ended up just sitting in the back of my closet for the past 2 yrs
The big tall heel actually is better for heavy duty use. You gain traction when stomping through muck and debris. You also can walk up a hill or climb better with them. The heel actually helps with ladders and anchoring your foot so it doesn't slip off better too.
I'm a lifetime cowboy boot wearer and owner as well. I have many pairs in my rotation selection today and got my first pair when I was 3 years old. Smoke Jumpers use this style of a boot for a reason. I highly doubt any of your activities exceed theirs.
They are paramilitary paratroopers and fireman that jump out of planes on rugged mountainous terrain to fight wild fires. Not many boots hold up to those types of tasks other than them. They are specially designed and constructed for that type of duty and use.
Thanks for responding JD
CA9824 is my GO TO STYLE !!! I currently have 5 identical pairs. The last few have been marked Made in Vietnam. The fit is still great, true to size, comfortable. I replace my boots at about a little over a year. So I have quite a few still in great shape and condition used loggers. Whenever I meet someone else who wears 12D I give them a pair.
had mine on about a half hour. so far so good. just hope the tongue starts molding to my ankle sooner than later
I have the same problem. One side of the tongue on one boot rubs my ankle raw.
Thinking of buying this Carolina model vs a Chippewa
Currently have 2 Irish Settler loggers steel toe and Worx work boot steel toe
RR
Where in Chicagoland can we try these on? Having a hard time finding stores that sell Carolina.
Is there any difference between the Carolina 9853 and the Carolina CA9052? Both seem to be named Poplar.
Have hade a pair for 3 months now and the bottoms are already crumbling it happened to my last pair of work boots to
Carolinas are the only boot I trust when processing timber
Weird, I always assumed lighter boots meant lower quality.
Depends a lot. As a role weight on your feet is a good way to wear you down on a long hike through the work day.
It's easy to overbuild a boot and be heavy. It's also easy to underbuild a boot and be light. It's hard to strike a good balance and it not fall apart of cost a ton.
One question. I own and work on a Farm so Im on my feet at least 12 hours a day minimum. Never do any kind forest work but I like the support for legs that logging boots give and most importantly support for ankles. How this is suitable for that kind of work or is there other recommendations?
Im wondering this as well, Im a farmhand. I’ve worn out a pair of Carolina composite toe after 3 years. The rubber is splitting, and the leather is worn through
There’s an old timer out here in NW Kansas that’s been wearing the same pair of White’s logging style boots since the 60s. He’s been a farmer all his life, except a short stint in the PNW forestry industry, which is where he got the boots. That’s why I’m watching this video lol, I want a budget version to see if I like the style before I spend $600 on one pair of boots.
Seem waaaay too heavy. If I'm up and down hills and ladders all day carrying heavy loads, these things are going to start feeling like a pair of ball and chains. If I'm wearing these when I'm not doing work, these things are going to be a nightmare if I'm walking for long periods of time like in the city.
Also, anyone feel free to educate me on this, but I just cannot understand the idea of a logger heel. It just feels like something that causes more localized pressure points when standing for long periods of time (putting a lot of weight onto the heel or fore-foot) and puts you off balance when bending over. I've put on a pair before and it felt like they were straining my lower back when I mimicked the movements i'd be doing for common busywork around the place (raking leeves etc...). I know they're meant to be amazing for loggers or linemen but I just don't understand why a lot of companies seem hellbent to put them their standard work models. Maybe I'm just used to boots with a flat bottom but logger heels for me personally just feel like they cause too many issues for what it's worth at the end of the day if you're not in a job that benefits greatly from them.
Hey boot guy love your videos I was wondering could you do a video on ce Schmidt 6 inch work boots I really love them and was wondering what you thought about them I have been able to find a video on them anywhere! Thanks and I hope your doing well!
I always find that the toe stitch wears out and leads to the boot ripping
Just got those already liking them a lot
I have had these for 2 weeks and the outsole came completely off.
You should do a review of Timberland Pro Barstow safety toe boot. I think its definitely a great boot!
Ty for the Review 🥾👍🏼
Can you review the Carolina 9821 and red wing logger boots? I'm curious whst you think of both. The 9821 is a bit different then the Carolina you reviewed a year or two ago and nobody reviews red wing loggers. Then again nobody reviews logger boots period.
Junk. Just junk. They only lasted me 2 month. Mine cracked after 2 months. I loved my redwings logging boots they are the Cadillac of boots.
The welting on my boots are plastic that's why thay are falling apart. I've talked to a boot shop in town and he said the boots were poorly made. The shop I ordered them from tried calling the main office and no answer. And the the other pair of boots I ordered for my helper never arrived and they could not find the tracking number on the order 2 months go by and still nothing. So I called them back and cancelled my order and then bought my helper a pair of Redwings.
Well done! Not sure I’d ever wear but cool to know! 🙏
Do you have any insight on a high quality waterproof and chemical resistant boot? I'm tired on those uncomfortable rubber work boots. (Servus boots)
Great review, Check out Dayton boots, they are very well made boots
I like your boots, and socks, very much
This is where it gets weird
Wow! I like those!!
How big do they come?
Boots I get are screwed up
All they are is screwed up manufactured screw up
is this a review or an advert........
Advert probably. I think he sells them
@@maxsimeck902 I bought winter waterproof boots. And they cracked and my feet are always wet. I'm going back to red wings.
Brandon Vaughn oil them
@@jimf-150 I do I've tried lots of boot oils and Vaseline.
Brandon Vaughn oh that’s weird mine have been fine I have Carolina loggers for two years, only replaced laces, but yeah mine are fine and I dairy farm so it’s a very physical job, glad that their holding up nice but in a few months I might need to get a new pair
Work provided a pair to me for free, and I'm throwing them in the trash because they're garbage, horribly uncomfortable and my heel keeps slipping out when I'm at work!
What boots were they?
They are probably uncomfortable because it sounds like they are way to big for you
You probably had a size too big, leather stretches so a the width will end up being bigger. That or you got a size to big to begin with
It's all I use I do landscaping but I'm a big fat son of a bitch so they don't last as long as they would if I weren't 300 pounds.
НЕ РАНТОВЫЙ МЕТОД
Had me wanting a pair right up to the part where you said foreign made.
Why are all these boots reviews done by hipster soy boys that have never done a hard days work in their life? Boots are for work not a fashion statement.
How tf do you know what he's done
