Uptown, I can tell you I have the QU-16 and it is awesome. I use it as I/O for my DAW/Studio and it works great. Super easy to set up different mix outputs for different monitors, easy to have synths and other equipment hooked up to the mixer to record or just monitor. I did buy a StudioLive 16.0.2 and it has a dead stereo channel from the start, returned it, and got the QU-16. Allen & Heath have been making mixers for over 30 years and their stuff is good.
Output is happening simultaneous am I right? during live, mixer is sending output to main L/R to PA, other stereo output available, and to the usb all at same time? thanks
Hi, I've everything set up as explained in the video, I've got the audio leaving my DAW to my QU16 on each fader but the only way I can get audio into my DAW is by having the input set to local, it won't work when set to USB, any thoughts on how to solve this issue. Thanks in advance.
is there. a video teaching me how to connect to pro tools 2022? im upgrading from the 003 console which has been fantastic but wont run the newest PT. I was told this mixer will but need a tutorial on how to connect it to a new mac thats being built. tx
hi, i am sending all 16 channels to logic. recording is fine as i monitor as i go from alt out of qu16 to amp. but on playback i get nothing. sound is there in logic, just not making it back to the mixer via usb. please help! cheers
Can you send a monitor mix via usb to the DAW Logic mixer and keep a separate mix in the house monitors? Bottom line I would like a separate mix to edit on the computer and a separate mix for in house monitors.
One quick question. the custom layer's great for the 16 inputs on my Qu-16, but how do I get my daw's master output fader to be controlled by the Qu-16?
Hello thanks for this vid really helps. Got a question really appreciate if you can help with.My Reapers is connected to a Allen & Heath Q 16.If I press 'Mute' on any channel will reaper still record?.Or will that particular channel be muted and not be routed to DAW?.
Hi can you show how to do this with DP10, what i think is working may not be. I want to use the qu 32 as a recording console for daw. but it appears that I'm not sure if im listening to the project through the DAW , MOTU, or the AH? I sent a project to the mastering lab and he said the selection sounds like it came out of a casio, thin, no bottom, no width, basically like crap, and this is transferred music from and 1/4 format 8 track , and a 32 track digital recorder which sound great when mastered but when transferred tracks to daw, through AH sounds like crap! What am I doing wrong? and I using MAC
@3:14. When you are testing your mic, have you switched channel 25 back to local? I can't get any input from the desk while I have USB B streaming selected on a channel.
Hi there, I've just asked the exact same question, have you figured out if we have to switch back to local input from USB, its the only way I can get a signal back into to my daw is from local input. Thanks.
Great video. May I ask a question? We have been looking for a digital mixer for our home studio for streaming and recording music. The release dates on the QU had us worried they may be too old or a risk of losing support. Wondering how Allen & Heath support for OS updates and silicon macs have been? Do you think they will continue to support these mixers for a while to come? We are looking at either the QU-16 or the Q-Pac. We will be adding a new macbook pro when they become available locally, running logic and ecamm/obs for streaming.
Hey mate, I don’t see A&H making support unavailable any time soon. Their QU line still sells like fresh bread. I ordered a QU SB a few months ago and it still hasn’t arrived as they can’t keep up with the production… A&H really make really reliable products and they are super intuitiv to use…
Excellent Video and very well explained. Question: How do you like your Allen and Heath QU series mixer? I ask, because I am on the fence with the Qu32 (Chrome model) vs. the Presonus StudioLive 32S Series III mixer. (Both models with 33 Moving Faders). Both have features I like. I do like the fact that the Presonus actually has DAW Transport buttons (rather then using the touch screen) and also supports AVB to a DAW via Cat5 connections, (which supports really fast data rates) With the Allen and Heath I like the fact that each EQ band has separate pots to make the EQ adjustments. I also like the A&H has ALPs faders where I have not confirmed what brand the PreSonus uses so far. I may call PreSonus today in fact as I'd like to make a decision soon. It's really hard to make a choice. Any input you could provide is surely welcome and great details in your video. Thanks. Phil
Hello. This was a jammed pack quick tutorial. The pandemic has made ministries and organizations rethink their audio setups. Will you create a tutorial of how to setup the QU32 to handle a live church event along with streaming to online platforms? The challenge we are running into is having separate mixes that we can control. The stream volume is always distorted as we are mixing for the in-house audience. Can the QU32 handle this or will we need another board sound board patched to the QU32? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks for the video works almost perfect. One issue for me. I’m using qu-16 and Channel 1-8 controls 9-16. On mixer if I move fader on channel 1 it moves channel 9. Any help
@@tonybucks5709 yes I did. You have to add 3 mackie controls for Q-16. In the settings or set up of part of each mavkie control there is an fader offset number. Change the first one to 0, second one to 8, and third to 16.
@@Realnandino the only thing i have found is MTC offset, but not working, i'm using Ableton Live. I have purchased this mixer 4 days ago and still cannot use it, i'm going crazy,.
If im using the qu16 as a interface, what input level should i have it as , (fader at ) 0 (unity) ? and pre amp gain at -24? and master at Unity also? my return out to my monitors is LR, which for some reason QU series automatically sends it to channel 1 and 2, so i link both faders.
Thanks for this video! But I want to ask about the use of soundcard/audio interface. Is the quality going to be better if we connect the laptop with a soundcard first rather than connect it directly with usb B? Thx!
the answer to your question is, the audio console / mixer becomes a sound card in itself & there is no need of adding an interface or a sound card because latency. Dante is your best bet here
At 1:02 Processing --> Fn --> set USB B; I don't see that menu just an EQ, then FN, then PEQ library... BTW QC-24 on Firmware 1.95 - Rev 4561 Current User Admin...
This took me a while to figure out, too. On your QU- unit you must have the green SEL key selected for Channel 1, THEN the USB B setup will be selectable as he demonstrates in the video. I had the green SEL key lit for the Master channel, and the menu wasn't available, just as you described...
This is the best tutorial on this ever. Filled a lot of gaps for me. Thank you!

The best video I've found on this - thank you so much!
This helped me get my Qu-PAC working in Ableton. Thanks so much! Blessings.
You can also set up the soft keys on the Qu series to move DAW Control's bank up & down, meaning you can use the faders on any number of tracks 😉
This tutorial really helped me understand how to use my mixer in a DAW centric setup. I really appreciate your help :)
Excellent instruction and clear directions! Thank you
hey man can you do the same tutorial with Abelton Live routing cause seems like this needs a video .
Output is happening simultaneous am I right? during live, mixer is sending output to main L/R to PA, other stereo output available, and to the usb all at same time? thanks
Thanks Bro..✊..you answered what I was about to ask..
Looks good…what about panning controls and DAW plugins? Will the QU-32 interface with these controls as well?
Thanks,
Jamie :)
Excellent tutorial...
Will ableton live also work?
Hi. I habe plugged synts in the qu32. Can i send them to daw for peocessing, and instantly send back on the channel on the qu32?

How do i find the DAW CONTROL window please?
On 3:00 you've set CH25 to be sent to USB, but are CH2 - CH16 and CH19-32 also being sent to USB?

Hi Everything is working but I have not signal coming through when I speak into my mic
Fantastic!!
What Mac OS X version are you running?
Can you send a monitor mix via usb to the DAW Logic mixer and keep a separate mix in the house monitors? Bottom line I would like a separate mix to edit on the computer and a separate mix for in house monitors.
For some reason my logic only records the audio if its set up to local instead of USB, weird. But it works.
Its supposed to be that way when recording. If yu pause at 2:48 yu can see the gain knob is RED meaninh input is set to Local when you recording.
One quick question. the custom layer's great for the 16 inputs on my Qu-16, but how do I get my daw's master output fader to be controlled by the Qu-16?
Thank you for this tutorial, is there a way to set up QU-16 as a midi controller ? I'd like to set tracks 15-16 as CC1 and CC11 ? Thanx
Do you need it to be connected to a network via ethernet or wifi for it to connect to say, a laptop?
Can the mixer be running a live show while a laptop is recording all live inputs?
Hello. Qu-24 and Logic Pro X. I'm getting a crazy scratching sound when recording any tracks. Any suggestions?
I have the same problem with my QU-32 and Logic Pro X. Did you find any solution for that ?
I’ve been having the same problems on my QU 32 as well it’s very annoying sometimes

I did these steps but Reaper didn't even see the mixer. Maybe it was a faulty cable. I'll try again.
