Only superstar that tries his hardest to put on a show for the fans every night. Through all the hate and drama westbrook still plays with hustle passion and energy. I will be sad when he retires
All things considered, Westbrook has kept up with his body well. The only players I can think of that are at this elite level of quick twitch/explosiveness are Westbrook, Ja Morant and Derrick Rose. We all know what happened to Rose, Morant is still young but I squint everytime he gets airbourne. We aint got old Westbrook anymore but he did an excellent job playing with his entire body and is still a compliment to Clippers at this time.
Russ's is built like an NFL player tbh. He could theoretically play Safety, Wide receiver or defensive back. He can cover a lot of ground and difficult to defend due to size, strength and speed. I can't say the same thing with Rose or Ja. Russ may not be the best basketball player but he is one of the best athletes in Guard position for sure
Now i understand why Westbrook has such a loyal fanbase that love him even despite his lack of playoff success. His energy is just off the charts and he's so likable even if he has some serious flaws come playoff time
He DID have playoff success. He average 27 7 8 in the NBA FINALS at 23 years old against a desperate Miami team. Lastly, KD did Russ dirty. He was powering those OKC teams. Ironically, if KD stayed in OKC, he would probably have the same amount of championships (2), in all actuality, both their legacies would be better.
Also if you notice, most of the highlights came after KD left, he got OKC to the playoffs from Hercules performances... and the triple doubles. Brodie really put the team on his back💪🏾😭
My favorite player all time.. He always makes you smile with his energy and sometimes his embarrassing basketball sequences. But he is true to himself and he always does everything he can. He makes his teammates better and he plays with everyone. If we can criticize some of his decisions, we must see what he brings like the magnificent season in Washington. 36 years old he could be aigain a stater in a lot off teams it's crazy.
One of the most powerful and athletic pg in the nba history and with no long injuries and played for more than 15 years at top level is incredible for a reason
Man 2012-2019 was peak Westbrook. It was really cool to watch. He was still good on the Wizards but injury and recovery and knee surgeries made him a little more preserved so he wasn’t using his athleticism to crash out as much but was still playing well and getting tripple doubles. The Lakers in 2021 was the begging of the end. It’s cool to still see him get some good games in and play well, but with much love he just isn’t the same player anymore. The most common thing in this video is the look of defeat or casual trying to get to the next play because they knew they weren’t physically capable of stopping him and he was willing the ball into the basket at times. He doesn’t have that anymore it was a cool thing to see.
man, prime russ could do everything on the court, shooting, dunking, passing, blocking, steals, he had handles, literally everything. Dude had unmatched passion for the game of basketball. My brother and I would be hyped up every time an OKC game would be on the schedule. it's so sad to see that people are hating on him cuz of his recent performance. Now that he's on the nuggets, he seems to be doing well with jokic. All he needed was a team that could use him well. And, of course, teammates that wouldn't abandon him (Kd). Wish all the best for u Russ. Always going to be my number 1.
Him doing all this stuff back then and hitting threes is pure talent. It’s just a shame all those plays took a toll on his body and now it’s hard for him to play like that today. Grateful for the memories
Russell Westbrook is an excellent player love his defense and how he attacks the basket last couple years people been dissing him but he can play the game with anybody.
I used to not really like Russ but I've come to appreciate and respect him over the past few years. Especially now after he re-invented himself on the Clips and showed that he's far from a 1 dimensional "score first and foremost" type of player. Dude has always played hard, always hustles, and now he's shown that he's adaptable and can fit into an overall team structure as a guy who can bring a massive spark of energy off the bench and focus on rebounding/defense/setting teammates up. He's still Russ though, and he will absolutely drop monster dunks on your head if you underestimate him
Rose dunks used to be insanely athletic! But Westbrook dunks on the Thunder are just that. He used to dunk with so much power for a guard you’d be looking at him like “wtf is he on😰”
Westbrook may have been an incomplete player in some respects but his sheer passion, energy level, and durability made him and his team electric. That's one reason people loved Jordan, his intensity was always at 100%. If we had more guys like Westbrook the regular season would be way more exciting than it often is.
He was on par with KD at one time and arguably surpassed him at one point. KD's play style is a lot more sustainable as it relies in his shooting ability.
Definitely. Westbrook averaged a triple double over the entire season the year after KD left (if I remember correctly). Oscar Robertson is the only other player in NBA-history to do that and he did it like a thousand years ago.
Russel Westbrooks, comes to play for the Brazilian team at the 2024 Paris Olympic Games since Embid, who is from Cameroon, preferred to play for the American Team
All these russ dunks highlights is from his early 20's to 30. Drose stop this kind of stuff at the age of 22 due to major injuries. Imagine a 23 to 30years old healthy drose can do.
If only he had a jump shot, OKC would have a couple of titles already. But he over relied on his athleticism and never prepared for the day his legs give up. He's part of the reason why Spurs won in 2014.
Prime Westbrook or Prime Kawhi ?
I had Russ before, but changed my mind to Kawhi.
I guess you will have to put out a video of prime Kawhi to put that to the test.
Man that's tough. Kawhi showed more though he can't average a triple double for a season
It is Easy Kawhi
Put out prime kawhi video and we will decide who better
Shout out to goldenhoops remind these people who Russell Westbrook was/is
🔥🔥
Still is though my boys jumper always been the same 😅
Athleticism,Aggression,and Passion
😤
That type of shit did it in my life to love nba after Jordan and Bryant. He comes again and again to dunk it and stealin' it in that period.
Only superstar that tries his hardest to put on a show for the fans every night. Through all the hate and drama westbrook still plays with hustle passion and energy. I will be sad when he retires
If Russell Westbrook just had a jumper, he would be in the top 10 best players of all time in my opinion
He had one. That bunny hop jumper used to be automatic.
In my opinion, he is in the top 20
Respectable opinion
