Thank you Coach P, needed that, my problem is that i thumbflick when i'm shooting a fadeaway type of shot and i wanna fix that, really appretiate that jumpshot tutorial Coach, keep making great content 👏🏽😤👏🏽
Kneegah if it works it works. Stephen Curry has a thumbflick because it helps with range and control of the ball. There's a reason why he is the greatest shooter
My problem has always been hand placement cause I have pretty small hands. I do try spreading more so I my fingers align with the ball but sometimes I have my hand up too much to the right of the ball sometimes. I guess its something I have to work on. Sometimes I shoot very well, and sometimes im way off. Also shooting with the index finger is pretty inconsistent for me. Whenever I shoot with the middle finger it feels a lot better but its not realistic for me to pull off in a game to align my hand that well.
Yo coach P honestly have helped me so much man. Just getting back into hooping again after so so long and your content here and on tiktok has helped me learn so much. You a G bro
Some help. My guide hand leaves the ball a bit before my set point so I’m basically shooting with one hand. It doesn’t look nice and I struggle to shoot from deep. How do I fix
you fixed me. I could kiss you. ive been an average shooter who has put billions of hours into his shot but still was inconsistent. It was where my shooting hand was. it was way too left meaning i always had a weird horizontal spin on ball that everyone commented on. Gonna put in the work to perfect this and hopefully im not overreacting but went outside and it feels incredible. thanks so much. going to sub.
For me, the big issue is timing and rhythm. Like when I drop my hips, I can't seem to smoothly get the ball to my set point in time to transfer the energy from my hip extension to my arms and through the ball. I usually end up compensating and exaggerating by swinging my arms up but then its out of control and the shot ends up going all over the place. And when I slow down to ensure the timing, then my shot is super slow. Any advice for speeding up the shot while also maintaining the rhythm?
If you’re a faster player, try dipping vs dropping your hips making sure you’re dipping straight down and not leaning over. Like Zoinks said, get the ball to your shot pocket and be sure to have your arm rotating up before you finish your dip and release near the peak of your lift popping that point finger center rim. Smooth - one, two, through
I mean you gotta practice the rhythm slow until you understand how your own shot should feel when you time it right, after you get that feel you can start speeding up and so on
Here from tik tok the dual set point is a completely new idea im hearing of. Would really like to see another video further breaking it down, thinking of implementing it into my game
If you place your hands on both sides of the ball, raise the ball, you hand naturally rotates (for me) to put the ball in the perfect shooting position.
For set point is holding it to the right (as a righty) definitely better or is it okay to have it in the middle too like lillard as long as you finish straight
My problem is that although i have no spin on my shot it still goes in consistently and I don’t wanna change anything because it works for me, but i still dont know how to feel about it having that knuckle spin
I love the content you put out, but I wish you would give some drills that can help with each of these problem so that we can work on improving them in warm ups and stuff. But thanks for the tips I’m definitely gonna make sure I have all these.
How I shoot it 1. Rest the ball on your palm 2. Slight tilt your feet 3. Setpoint on nose level slighty on the side of your face to avoid the ball hitting ur nose lol 4. Push the ball/extend your arms (Don't pull, PUSH IT, this allows you to release quicker and it a more easier and repetitive motion to do Just wanna note, this may not work for everyone. Everyone's shot is different so just shoot how you feel is most comfortable. Basketball is all about finding your own form.
Coach P can you teach me some defensive plays such as pick n roll defense, on ball, and help (bonus for steald and blocks but I think contesting shots are better in most scenarios and less risky)
this guy not showing the money shots by putting his words into action is a big fail tho. i mean the words he say is of course correct, but for people who dont know better they could easily be persuaded if he just went and did like 10 shots and hit them all or something right after
That’s why I have my Instagram and TikTok, that’s where I post me shooting. You can also watch open runs video on my YT channel and see how I shoot the ball from NBA range. God bless
all un falsifiable claims buddy, come back when you have some solid tecniques with evidence, not that "nba players play like this" or "there is no right way to shoot a basketball"
Best way to find your shot is putting up hundreds of shots each day, adjusting any issues on the way
with close range shots?

wait until the ball is at your set point or passing your chest to extend your legs

Stephen Curry also has a thumb flick. If you slow it down he has a slight thumb flick that kinda uses it to guide it.
