I totally agree with you. For me, working a 9-5 is the bane of my existence. Maybe I'm just in the wrong field though because I get home from work and im so exhausted from dealing with people all day long that I have no energy to work on my youtube, tiktok, and my art projects. I also hate how stressful it is to take time off
Ugh I’m so sorry, I’ve definitely had jobs that made me feel that way. I feel very blessed that I enjoy where I work now, and it’s mostly because of the people I work with. I also enjoy getting out of the house and socializing a little, I don’t think I would thrive working from home.

Yes, custom is usually not worth the money. The customer either doesn't know how to describe what they want or changes their mind after it's too late to fix the painting.
Yes! I have experienced this. It’s so hard to describe an image from your mind. You think you’re painting what they envisioned and then you realize you were way off

I am cautious about taking commissions for some of the reasons you say (expectations etc). Plus I paint mainly as a form of therapy. I have disabilities which affect my capacity to do things, including art.
I have a personal goal of one painting per month. I would like to cover my expenses (main cost is my website). Plus make a bit extra. My attitude is if I sell any it's a bonus.

I refuse to do portraiture because they are too personal. If something is off then it becomes stressful. I still do commissions, teach classes & I’ve had a RUclips art channel for many years but I Haven’t made anything worth watching I guess. Far from getting monetized.
I think I would have to do art business videos in order to get any subscribers. I love sharing my art & some tips in other mediums but far from monetizing the channel.
Otherwise I have to work a part time job to get consistent income along with my art diversified gigs.
I don’t care if I sell I single painting . It will be nice if I sell them . I need more supplies. I have a passion for oil painting and photography. I’m kinda going with the flow . Chasing the dopamine 😁
