I love this song so much. Such a blast from the past and return to their roots. I've missed this style of metalcore. Phil is a metalcore OG. And Jason Richardson is amazing. Can't wait to see what an album with this lineup is like.
I've been waiting for this reaction. Not gonna lie, I listened the shit out of this song already. I didn't know I needed a new 2000's metalcore song in my life, but man this got me good. That old school, lead guitar heavy melodic metalcore is what got me into the core genres back in the day, this song captures that so well. And it does that by still feeling new, and not just nostalgia bait.
I was super pumped to hear what they sounded like with Jason but them adding Anthony Barrone on drums blew my mind, I love Shadow of Intents Melancholy album so I’m super pumped to see what these guys are going to be able to do moving forward.
The metalcore scene was also built by a lot of bands local to me. The New England met scene back then was insane. Especially with Killswitch Engage, All That Remains, and Shadows Fall all coming from the Springfield, MA area and all were in bands previous with each other
This song is on my list for one of the best songs of the year Last time they were here in aus phil told me they were super keen to get back And i cant wait
Back in the day, Phil and Howard were the 2 finalist to be the new vocalist of... Killswitch Engage. Members of Killswitch and shadows fall used to be in a band called overcast
The one thing about this is the new drummer adds some pace to their songs, the drummer is Anthony Barone was in Shadow of Intent for a few years and still plays for both Beneath the Massacre and BabyMetal.
Huge fan of the band from the OG metalcore days. Their early albums are metalcore staples. Oli influenced so many of today's guitarist. He had a unique style in the genre. He kept melodies in his guitar work, and his solos were so well placed without going over the top with them. Jason is a fantastic addition. They are keeping Oli's style alive while bringing some of the newer modern metal sound from Jason. Anthony is very underrated and fits so well with them. This song makes me happy. Hoping there's an album that has a brutal track following the ending of this one. I'm back in my 20s listening to This Darkened Heart.
Extremely excited to see what epic things await phill and the guys after the new album and tour with megadeth and I pray that his his goal to make it them a legacy metalcore band comes to fruition which they will I have a strong gut feeling that they will it's their time now and they are going for it
New drummer as well, and Jason Richardson has been in since Oli passed in 2018 and I believe the bassist is also new now. I have been waiting for your reaction to this song!! It’s an old school sound with a modern twist. Phil still sounds insane and OLÍ would be so proud. RIP OLÍ HERBERT🌹 these guys are back and I am STOKED for the upcoming album in 2024
Not young, but, I'm 29 but All That Remains The Fall of Ideals was THE album that got me into metalcore. To hear this song instantly brought me back to 2008 (when I first heard it). This song sounds like it was straight from that album and I'm here for it
Phil labonte is an absolute boss. Anti commmunist and counter revolutionary, if you want to hear him speak politics on my absolute favorite podcast he is a regular on Timcast irl. Was there all week except last night and has the best takes. And honestly his music is super deep politically wothout being over bearing. Atr is the best and Phil is better haha
Been listening to ATR since 2010, and they're probably my favorite OG metalcore band. This song is great, but I do wish they harmonic part in the solo was a little longer. Love that shit. Can't wait for the new album.
I loved All That Remains when This Darkened Heart and The Fall of Ideals (2006) came out. They had a unique sound but I felt like each album after was a little worse than the one before. They were never as influential as the bands that came before them (As I Lay Dying, KSE) but they were a solid metalcore act. I saw them at least 5 or 6 times back in the day, were always a good show.
I dunno “Overcome” and “For We Are Many” felt very punchy and to me felt like it found their sound with FWAM. Good blend of bash your face against the wall riffs and vocals both growly and clean.
As a longtime ATR fan, I can tell a lot of this song was based off of , forever in your hands, well multiple songs to me but, that was very clear please tell me ATR fans have seen the reuse.
It's so much the same, but more modern and somehow, don't hate me, but fresh..??? I swear I heard an exact match from an older song there for a quick second, but I still liked it and the guitar and drumming don't feel stale. NOICE. Always like your reactions.

I forgot how absolutely nasty Phil’s high screams are. So sick
Mike deserves so much credit for being able to counter Oli and now Jason as a rhythm guitarist. Can’t be easy!
This is a great shout
Anthony barone from Shadow Of Intent, beneath the massacre and more. One of the most talented drummers from where I'm from.
Makes it a 10

I love to see this style of metalcore coming back alongside a lot of bands just going “heavy” again.
I agree, too much djent nowadays. Bring back the melodic metalcore!! 💪

This song made its way into my smart shuffle on Spotify and I love it 🔥

This song is on my list for one of the best songs of the year

Loved it the first time I ever heard it like it's a huge comeback really
Back in the day, Phil and Howard were the 2 finalist to be the new vocalist of... Killswitch Engage. Members of Killswitch and shadows fall used to be in a band called overcast
Saw them at soundwave like 10 years ago, they were sick. Good to see them back.

I love that the drums in the chorus are a clear call back to This Calling. This whole song seems to be, but especially the chorus drums.
That guitar harmony riff is definitely a call back to not alone too.
Absolutely love this track.
Lets gooooo!
OG metalcore is BACK, BABY!!
WE DONT NEED TO DJENT IN AN LED-LIT ROOM ANYMORE, BOIZ!
This one is definitely a banger.

The bassist previously played for them way back in 2003 for a couple years.
This sounds like a modernized Overcome album song. And that was their best album imho.
It's funny you guys mentioned All Shall Perish... they've reformed with the original lineup (mostly I think) and they're touring again.
Also a new drummer, which he is doing a great job!
SOI drummer
People who remember oli from shadows fall are true ogs

Been a huge ATR fan for a LONGGGG time lol. Great track! Very Fall of Ideals feel here
The last riff was definitely shadows of intent. Like the drummers prev band

Love this reaction... Go back and listen to their song This Calling.

He did all those songs with Luke holland as well

Check out Old Flame - Pray!!!
Phil labanti the lead singer is the man bro
Sorry...You didn't get into Killswitch...BECAUSE of the vocals!?!?! I beg your finest pardon...whatever do you mean?
Hey guys do the reaction for the story so far "all this time". The song is sick
We were gonna but no video OR visualiser, makes it a tad boring to shoot a reaction to
@@nathandjohnny of course, but it is always fun to watch you guys reacting kkkkkk
Gotta do Starsets new song "Brave New World".
Great reaction as always guys. Have you checked out the new alleviate song gravity ft nik nocturnal? It’s absolutely amazing!
We have but aren’t posting it until the label clears it for us
@@nathandjohnny fantastic, can’t wait to watch it!
As a normie, the chorus will draw in normies. I didn’t grow to appreciate the other things until later.
Where's the reaction to Starset's new sound 😢
Coming soon, we promise!
You don’t hire Jason to be in your band and not put face melting solos in EVERY song.
Plz do starsets new song!!!
Coming soon!
I respect this band for what it did for the genre back in the day, but I’ve never loved their vocals.
by the way oli actually drowned in a few inches of water at a lake
There’s suspicions around it. Phil talked about it multiple times
Just not a fan of Phil’s vocals anymore. He’s definitely the weakest link of this band now, As I lay Dying’s new single blows this away
