LOVE Rhonda Smith! She did some clinics and played at the 30th anniversary Experience PRS event several years ago, and she was one of the top 2-3 highlights of the whole event. So cool, so smooth and suave. And so kind and professional. She is amazing.
She could play Prince's funky bass lines so well. They have nuances that a lot of people wouldn't get, but she can. I like me a bit fretless............ I used to have one and it was always a pleasure to play it.
Good list of inspirations I also share Geddy Lee and Chris squire. But for me I would also add Steve Harris which I practice two at the beginning for hours on end and Incorporated some of his style into my albums. One more phenomenal bassist was John Entwistle only because I hated him because he would make it look so easy and it was not which just pushed me harder. Thanks for the video!
Rhonda Smith is a truly gifted bass played and musician!! I must be out of touch being "an old guy", but I first got into Rhonda’s excellent bass playing seen playing with the late, GREAT guitar player, Jeff Beck. I just loved her playing (along with Anika Niles drumming!) Rhonda is just fantastic!!
Great list of inspirational bass players, Geddy Lee, Chris Squire, Steve Harris. I would have to add to my list ,Larry Graham, Geezer Butler,. When I was around 12-13 my uncle said to me, if you really want to know about the bass, he handed me three albums, Vulcan Princess Stanley Clarke, School Days, and Ron Carter album, , then I was hooked
I think I love everything Yamaha makes. Actually I'm listening to a movie on a Yamaha surround sound amplifier 7. 2 and it is amazing! I also love all their instruments especially their drum kits and bass guitars very well-made and live sounding. Might as well throw in that I like their motorcycles too. Pianos just everything...

It was such treat, honour and privilege to host Rhonda Smith here in Uganda in 2012. Memories! 👌🏿

Great that Rhonda mentioned Jaco first as her influence, as I could hear that in her fretless playing.
PRS REALLY needs to make those basses more available! I still haven’t even seen one (in person), never less play one.

Good stuff. I'm surprised she mentioned Geddy Lee and Chris Squire as influences.
Why’s that a surprise?
