They really just need to make Verina's hold dash attack as long as you hold down. Most people get her, and it would be a really cool way to travel fast. Course I'm sure they have other plans...
honestly i just use inferno rider and verina's vine slide. but the Herons is really good in a clutch when you need to get to higher ground or don't want to swim for a distance. it's also helpful in getting to the back of Blastoise when you just want to break its bell without waiting to dmg its legs.

Verina's hold / dash attack is about as fast as the Inferno Rider
A straight line would provide more consistent results

i am exploring using encore with inferno rider, then switch to verina charged, its so fast to explore with this
