The thing I remember most about this one is The Checkerboard of Death

Definitely one of the more memorable moments, lol

Another compelling performance from Pertwee, and Bellal is perhaps the best alien companion we never had (Arnold Yarrow, who played him, is still going strong at 100 as I write this). The direction, design and costumes are fine, and the whole story still holds up visually. Carey Blyton provides his usual wacky score, but the chanting of the Exxilon choir is effectively creepy. Not a classic, but an often overlooked and underrated story IMHO.

Oh, wow! I love hearing about people who've made it to 100 and beyond! I hope to do the same one day, haha. And yeah, in spite of my criticisms, there's still quite a lot to like with this one :)

The first episode is one of my favorite openers to a serial. The fog, the power loss of the Tardis and the earthlings on a mission, the two civilizations and the Dalek reveal! But after that great first episode it became a mess! The Exilon were not threatening enough and vanished after episode 3.. Daleks weren’t needed for this story at all. They should’ve given the Dalek time to the Exilon tbh. Sarah Jane didn’t had much to do during the 2nd half of the serial and we did got a damn labyrinth intelligence mystery for the Doctor to solve in that damn city that nearly took 1-2 episodes. Anticlimactic ending only the sacrifice that destroyed the Dalek ship kinda made up. But I can’t give that mess more than a 5/10.

I think it’s a fun and creepy episode. Love the idea about the living city. 7/10

I really like this story and that Dalek self destructing is funny and I’ll defend it all the time. This is a more comedic Dalek story (like The Chase) which just shows the diverse tones you can tell with the Daleks. There are creepy Dalek stories, action packed Dalek stories, interesting Dalek stories and this is a fun Dalek story. Daleks being silly is great just like them being creepy or cool

You know what? I totally see where you're coming from. Perhaps if I viewed it through that lens, I'd enjoy it a lot more, but I'm also somebody who wasn't big on The Chase, so idk. This is a fair take though, and it does make sense to try different things with the Daleks. As said, I did enjoy a fair amount of the serial, especially in the first half, even though there were aspects that weren't for me.

@@DalamReviews Yeah, for me there are Doctor Who stories where you can statistically look at the good stuff & the bad stuff and try to see which outdoes which but with a few stories, I just ignore that system and just have fun with what I’m watching. I wouldn’t change a thing about this story. Not that self destruct Dalek, not the Dalek being being killed by sticks & Stones, not Carey Blyton’s jaunty over the top (but also atmospheric score), not the floor cliffhanger. NOT. A. SINGLE. THING. I love this story! It’s one of the best stories to watch as a child (which I was when I first watched it).

@@theevildalek5425 Absolutely, there's definitely stories like that for me. Sometimes a serial is just too much fun for me to be particularly bothered by the things that aren't necessarily *good* . And I'm glad you love this story! The response to this one has largely been people standing up for it, which is nice to see. Every story is somebody's favorite, after all :)
