KV-2 is well balanced. One-shots are rare and HE has low penetration, so you have to aim at weakspots
Weak armor, poor speed, high visibility, slow turret traverse, poor accuracy and long reload balance that out.
9/10 FV4005 fires one shot and then gets obliterated by enemy team as everyone aims for it bc no one wants to deal with it. Very rarely will you ever get a game anywhere near this caliber. Its not even op
perhaps not OP but definitely broken.
Not a good argument. It's op state at the time was why it was hard focused and shut down. Just because player decisions stopped it from ruining games most of the time, doesn't mean it should be left in its current state forcing players to continue hard focusing the hell out of it. It just makes the tank unfun to play, and unfun to play against. Which isn't healthy for the game.
I agree with Jingles, that's it's more about the awesome HESH Shells that people complain about (even on Console where we have 12 shells and 270 mm HESH and also Waffle) rather than the mobility or the aim time. Reason why FV4005 got better gun handling over the Deathstar was because it sacrifices all the armour.
That armor is worthless. The upper Hull is weak, the lower plate is huge, the sides are easy pens with a box under the turret making sidescraping impossible.
Also, anything with more than 250 mm pen will go right through the turret.
Deathstar and Shitbarn should switch names.
Honnestly the armor on the 183 is useless when the forehead is a gurenteed pen if you have 200+ pen. Upper hull is swiss cheese for anyone with heat, lower plate is....... Ya....... And the sides are only good armor when facing muppets that dont know abt the rear turret tank weakpoints

So they want to make it worse than FV215 183. Now FV4005 have roughly the same mobility, the same gun handling but it has LESS armor than FV215 183.
And I've spend countless time grinding it to finish personal Campaign. Great job WG for ruining the already unique tank; one of it's kind into worse copy of a "deleted" tank. (Not deleted but you know the story)
EDIT : To make a balance rant, if they want to nerf FV4005 then why not remove it's premium shell? Problem mostly solved by that single decision, but then again it's probably because 4005 wouldn't give WG $$$ anymore. Another alternative, make the AP as premium shell - same shell performance - and make the HESH (the 92mm pen one) as standard ammo. Problem solved again! But this time it's still gives WG $$$.
My point is, there are many ways to 'balance' a tank - FV4005 in this case. But WG seems always to pick the wrong solution to hit the wrong target.
Now it actually has worse top and reverse speed, worse gun handling, 3 times worse camo and infinitely worse armour. so there's no reason at all to play it over 183.
@@EirikXL well the armour on the fv 215b 183 is really Bad and because the turret is on the back with limited turn Radius its very awkward to attack sometimes. The fv 4005 will still be way more flexible and faster up hill

Im so lucky i researched and bought the fv183 literally 13 minutes before the update that shut the servers down and they removed it. I sat there the entire 13 minutes hyperventalating with my 2 friends from highschool that were grinding it with me. We all got it within 30 minutes of the update.
But yes. When balancing they always choose the wrong aspects.

Nah no way, in this video and most videos on youtube you are being shown RNG at its best, non of this shit is actually happening often enough to base a nerf on.
But as it is the gun doesn't need a nerf what does is OP Hesh(pay to win).

And even if you are 1v1 him, on equal footing, full health both, close range, any shitbomb with some brain would know that all he needs is a shot and can tank 2 to 3 from almost any other tank.

When I played it, i can assure you I did not have the above advertised RNG by quickbaby, in the video the Russian player had Russian RNG.
You will not hit most of your shots even fully aimed. Also this tank fully aimed in prokorovka for example, will either miss or go close range and die, your whole point about taking this tank out is invalid, load HE and aim at the turret, if he is loaded try to bait the shot, shot tracks or well armoured bits of your tank If you have the HP to spare if not either set a trap or retreat towards allies. This tank will not hit at long range, it will not stay hidden, it will not bounce, all it can do is by the blessing of RNG nuke an idiot who is poking in front of it at close range. Too long reload, incredibly bad gun amounts to one thing, you NEED luck.

The T71 has crazy expensive premium shells.
5.600 credits for 150 damage or 33.600 credits for a 900 damage clip. Which is half the damage for four times the credits as the FV4005

The object 430U on the other hand really isn't. Some tanks can't even pen it.

The exact same argument could and was made for the WT E-100. It had a turret even worse than the FV4005 II and well, we all know what happened with that story.
It isn't. The way that the HESH Rounds work means that there is no counter play by using armour. And there's also no counterplay when it comes to mobility as it's traverse speeds mean that even if it's caught out it will likely still be able to turn around and put that shot in

This tank is one of the most balanced tanks in the game. Yes it deals massive amounts of damage, but at the same time has a long reload, mediocre gun characteristics and literally 0 armor, if it gets spotted, it's game over for it. Fucking type 4 and 5 heavies were completely broken, extremely overpowered armor and he that was literally pay to win. FV4005 should not be nerfed at all.
Well it is not balanced BECAUSE it has a retarded gun and zero armour. Thats exactly the point why a tank is not balanced......nerf the DMG, penetration or whatever and give it at least some armour. That way they can make it Kind of balanced.
You cant just balance out op statistics with really Bad other ones. It will still be op and thats why its not balanced
How isn't it balanced? Swedish tank destroyers have great guns and stats but shit armor, what balances them out, mediums usually have good mobility and guns, but mediocre armor, what balances them out and so on and so on and so on, how the fuck isn't FV4005 balanced?
Nerf the damage and penetration and give some armor? So they would make it literally shitbarn again? So it would be completely useless in this game? Doesn't sound really logical, the gun it has, makes this tank special, mind aswell remove it, if they would need the dmg and penetration. The turret is completely flat, it would need 250+mm of armor on all sides just to be competitive, if they would nerf dmg and pen

I think the FV 4005 got too popular recently since the Deathstar was removed from the tech tree soo people can only get this one tank if they want the magical HESH shells...

4005 is one of the few tanks that can balance russian tanks....OFC they are going to nerf it.
Also nobody seemed to consider just nerfing ALL high damage HE(SH)....looking at the Types.

in my opinion the tank is fine the way it is. The old 183 had worse gun handling but thats because it had SOME armor, thus it could get closer in fights. The fv4005 has the worst camo rating and absolutely no armor. The 4005 could play up front with heavies but with care, like a support vehicle. Think of the v4, WG released it completely overpowered. They said "Oh you can flank it by taking out the tracks. You cant do that when there's enemy support. The 4005 is fine the way it is. No armor means it can be penned 99% of the time when it comes to poke. On open maps you can be spotted easily, now especially with the introduction of the wheeled lights. It has better gun handling because its meant to snipe. Taking that away is like sniping in a kv2. Yes its got a good gun, but thats all it has over the other 183, speed, gun handling. Taking all that away just reverts it to a tank no one wants to play. If you dont think its healthy for the game then pick on the kv2. The dang thing can one shot basically anything at its tier as well AND its tier 6, which means more new players. At tier 10 you should be experienced and after one hit from the 4005 you should learn your lesson. About its HESH, its perfectly fine. Any heavy or armored medium angles and it becomes difficult to pen it. 230mm is not going through many heavies frontally. Its current accuracy doesnt always favor you as is, to make credits in the 4005, you must pen every HESH round. Its not something you can play profitably reliably.
I totally agree with your opinion. Although I have been at the receiving end of the monstrous gun of the 4005 many a time, I do not blame the tank at all. That is what that tank was meant to do. To compensate for the gun, WG made the turret huge and composed entirely of what could amount to papier-mache. Its camouflage rating is also awful. It is not a brawler but more of a sniper. Now that its gun handling and speed are going to be nerfed, it is going to lose that ability as well. Players at tier 10 are supposed to be more experienced and should be aware of the capabilities of the 4005 and adapt accordingly when they face it on the battlefield. Please don't misunderstand, I am not a cheerleader for the 4005. In fact, I do not even own one. What I am trying to say is that this game needs one or two tanks of that extraordinary nature to keep the experienced players especially at tier 10 engaged in this game. Otherwise, they may get bored after a while and leave.
In my humble opinion, if you are going to start waving the nerf wand around, there are far more OP tanks in this game that desperately need a nerf, like the Defender or the Lt 432, or the Object 430 U (whose planned nerf I hear has been cancelled).

This tank is not good at all i think, you have to be extremely lucky to get to a good score, i don't want wargaming to get this tank out of the game because it's the SH*Tbarn and not the OPbarn, it's a meme tank and not an actual meta tank, it's very rare that people do more than 2 or 3k damage in a game
average for EU is around 2-4k per game
If you want to nerf the FV, think about the KV2 and think about nerfing it, it has the same abilities as the FV but in lower tier AND it has armor, tier 4 to 7 can get one shot by the KV2, what's more the KV2 gets an extreme HE... As a standard round so you pay even less than for shooting APs... So technically the KV2 is more powerful than the FV
@@hambourje there is only one thing, in tier 5,6 there is arty that reloads in 20 secs (give or take) that usualy does 1/3 - 1/2 of your tanks hp

@@easterneagle8811 IF it even hits plus most tanks at that tier are fast as hell don't forget that theres brokenly op tanks like the m4 Sherman with the derp gun that oneshot most tier 5-4 tanks with an 8 second reload and atleast splashes for 1/2 of ur tanks hp
Easy fix: give it a siege mode, make it unable to fire outside of said siege mode given that's how it actually had to fire irl, that massive recoil spade on the back had to be planted in the ground to stabilise it. Could be worse though, at least the FV4005 Stage I isn't in the game with its auto-reloading (mechanised loading assistance rather than an actual autoloader, similar to the IS-3A) 183mm gun.
Doesn't fix the fundamental problem that it has a gun that can one-shot most of the tanks in the game.
Shots like that one in Conq are 1 in 10, I complety disagree with nerf, this tank was never competive, they are making bigger trash from something that already is trash
It wasnt trash. 0.38 accuracy is actually really good for such a gun and combined with penetration and aim time it was actually fairly reliable. It definitely needed some nerfs
Are you sure? Tried this tank enough times in few days and i oneshoted quite a lot of them. In tier 8 MM in like 4-5 mins did 9k+ dmg. Removed pantera, Conq, E100, TS5 and someone else... i think they enjoyed their day kappa.
There is a reason this tank isn't used in CW, because it isn't OP at all, just a meme on Tracks.
Yup, it is useless in CW because of side, reload time and most people play with S conq on hull down or it is hard to pen russian tank in side because of size armour. And if you don't pen with HESH, tank is useless. CW needs dpm, mobility and armor.

Try war thunder there are real tanks planes and ships, in this game there arent historically accurate and the game is shit..

Am I the only one who feels like the FV isnt that overpowered. I honestly dont see it a that much in battle and normal dont worry about it unless I'm low on health or in a light tank

The only way I can think about needing this tank is to simply increase the damage reduction of a not penetrating premium shell + limiting the number of premium shell.
Kinda the same with the Type 5 Heavy (only needs a limit to the number of premiums), he actually needs those rounds to engage against hull down IS-7 and other super heavy, but he doesn’t need to have only those.
Really should just make it a super conway. 750 damage with like 9 sec reload and good gun handling. Balanced by huge size and no armor.
With this huge caliber I would give it 800 Alpha Damage and around 15 sec reload. But the number of rounds it can Carry should also be increased in that case.

Accuracy should not be touched because that is suppose to be one of the main differences between the FV4005 and the FV215b 183, other then armour, but now the FV215b 183 will be more accurate, which is total crap... I am fine with the other nerfs, but leave the damn accuracy alone...
Completely agree. Now besides the extra turret traverse, there's zero reason to play the FV4005 when the FV215b 183 will just be better. The whole point choosing the 4005 was for the better gun handling while sacrificing armor in return.
@@stevecarlson2351 yeah, main problem is the HESH rounds, I don't normally fire them because I prefer AP, and when the thing fires AP, it isn't that annoying, and honestly should just have the premium HESH nerfed or just removed, leave everything else about it untouched. They are going to effectively kill the tank, and it pisses me off because its my favorite tank in the game to play, and again, I mainly only fire AP, which is perfectly balanced in the thing. Wargaming just doesn't look ahead when they nerf a tank it seems...

I'm a relatively new player to WoT, and when I hear QB saying something like 'And his crazy alpha damage allows him to effectively _oneshot_ every tank he comes across, even same-tier!' I can't help but feel a little amused. Because that's pretty much the entirety of the game as I've played it so far.
Do not agree, I think this tank is a perfect example of a high risk/high reward tank gameplay. Just like arty pre-stun mechanic which I also disagreed with. What I have a problem with, and you likely do not, is the OP nature of mediums, like the 430U. I see you rip around with your OP meds and hardly say anything about those tanks which have seriously powercreeped most heavies out of their roles.
I think you are biased with this topic. You seem to favor medium dmg, good armour/mobility mediums.

fv 4005 getting nerf because it is too strong, but the obj 430u's nerf got cancelled because its a ruski tank, nothing to see here guys, this game has no russian bias, hard hitting gun with good mobilty and armour that makes the 121 looks like a troll. definitely no russian bias at all.

This sucks. The FV4005 already had no armor, a high silhouette and almost non existent camo rating making it an absolute shell magnet. Now it will take forever to aim and and you cant get out of the way of the shots that will come your way. There's no reason now to choose this over the death star.

The Russian Bias in the game is getting real crazy.
yup, one-shotting pretty much everybody the whole game, but then, in a crucial moment of the game, missing a russian spg sitting in the cap is a weird coincidence.
WG don’t seem to understand the key to keep player happy is to NOT make it frustrating to play. This thing used to make people on the receiving end of the HESH shell frustrated. They responded by making changes so the player for this tank would feel the frustration. Now everyone will be frustrated. Great move.

it's 2020 been NERFED and is completely USELESS now. DO NOT grind this line. It has NO Armor, NO Gun Handling, NO view range, NO camo, NO speed, NO Traverse and it's 212 pen HE will do 445 to the side of an AMX 13 90. Oh those shells also cost 8000 credits.
The Conqueror GC should have shot. Landing the shell anywhere near a 300-HP FV should be more than enough to kill it

Never in my 6-year as a tanker had I been destroyed WITH ONE SINGLE SHOT, within the first minute, while using a HEAVY tank (a tier 8 Tiger II, FULL HEALTH, frontally!!!) until I encountered that FV4005 and one of it's damned HE shells. I immediately understood why it's called "The Death Star". 'Nuff said.
I sincerely hope that THAT will NOT happen again in another 6 years... at least...

That tank had a sub 50% wnr making it a perfectly balanced vehicle. It makes me wondering when WG will realise that you cannot balance 1,8k alpha. I just hope at this point that they will take the nerfs back before they take it out of the game as a reward vehicle.

OP..( over powered ) Light tanks = to fast new french and old light with mobility is the problem and med tanks that out shoot and pen and view range is the problem .
Heavy tanks almost has no more role in the game

So...ignore team lineup, get one shotted by fv which has limited rounds, crap view range, no armor was slow, has super slow reload, no camo and is the size of a house...then fv dies to light tanks teammates...light tank player thinks...my tiny, fast, well camoed, quick traverse and low reload, good viewrange light tank, whos he rounds can wreck this fv (that doesnt even have full turret traverse) thinks...fv is op and needs a nerf. Wg- yup light tank you are right. Lets make it so nobody can play fv without even more risk and almost guaantee they die when they are spotted.

i can kill a KV2 with a KV-85 without problem on 1vs1, same using a M10 using a good view range and playing smart(even with the slow paper armor M10)
Countermeasure against KV2 are easy. if you have a poor armor tank then just dont get on his fire line and if you have a enough decent armored tank, then angle so he cant deal full damage.

The thing about FV4005 is this thing kinda negated the "RNG" factor in this game. No matter surface that you hit, it always damage it.

Oh I miss this prenerf. The movement and aim nerfs make it SO much worse. Now it has no cammo, no movement, terrible aim. If you get lucky and no one spots you, you can 1 shot people. But I struggle to get more that 2 kills in this now.

Like QB said, it is not the Tank, it is the gun. Even no prem rounds and just its normal AP and a 120-150ish pen for its standard HESH rounds (And maybe only 1500 dmg).

1.)Standard shells:AP-1,150 alpha and 310mm of penetration
2.)Premium shells:HEAT-900 alpha and 400mm of penetration

They should just remove a drastic amount of pen from the HESH rounds from 230 to 130 so it's a risk to fire them but if you do manage to pen it pays off amazingly compared to normal AP
