I preformed a shifter shaft seal change with the FMX in my 69 Mach 1 (in car). Unfortunately I unbolted the front band servo too far and dropped the band pawl out. I just now got it and the servo reinstalled. The trick is use a small telescopic flexible magnet (Lisle part # 66580) to attach to the side of the pawl and lay it on the side of the band drum, I was able to support the stem of the flexible magnet by laying it on the "H" pipe. I adjusted the pawl up and down until I was able to hook the servo cam onto the thick part of the slotted wedge pawl. Using this method it took me about 5 minutes to install it successfully w/o pulling the transmission. Make sure that you have a bright flash light, leave the band in it's retracted state do not attempt like I did (at first) to wire it in a stretched out fashion.
Friend, in the part where the spring-loaded piston is present, my box has a wavy disc, you would help me a lot in telling me if I no longer put it on since I have a problem with the reverse, could you tell me if I no longer put it on and I only put discs and pastes and I discard the wavy one please greetings from Mexico I await your answer
How many quarts of transmission fluid including the torque converter(converter was drained as well). I hear it's 12 & a half. Is it the same amount as a C6 or does the MX take less?
Sorry for the late answers, i was in holiday. The FMX capacity is 11qts if the tranny was taken appart, but if you just change the filter, you approximately drain 4qts off the FMX
When rebuilding any Ford transmission, you should always replace the beville return spring in the forward clutch. Many times during the teardown of these transmission, I have found these springs broken. It is one of the weaknesses of Ford transmissions.
With a stock rebuild, will a FMX handle 500 hp ? Are all cores the same, or do some models have more front clutches or different servos ? Does anyone make a reverse pattern manual valve body ?
Thanks ! I modify this home made tool for the different transmissions I rebuild, Recently I modified it for an AOD tranny, so I can't tell you the specif for a FMX tranny Sorry !
Thank you for making this video! I was wondering what kind of grease you are using to hold the needle bearings and thrust washers, a grease that dissolves in ATF?
I appreciate you making these videos free to view. Thanks! Also did you happen to have any difficulties with this rebuild? I'm about to tackle an FMX, and its my first time rebuilding a transmission.
Thank you very much for posting these videos. They have helped me immensely.
Not too sure how this video could get a thumbs down, it was excellent.
Bullcrap you don't know what you're talking about
Excellent video , top, many thanks for sharing. All very clear and educative

One more think, can the seals in the shift shaft be replaced with the gearbox in place, removing the valve box from the bottom only ?

Hello very great video very helpful I need the part number for the brake bands do not get them in Germany
thanks for the tear down and rebuild of the FMX tranny! You make it look simple. Do you have the specifications for the homemade tool?
Thanks !

Sorry !
Bonjour, vous êtes encore actif sur votre chaine?
Bonjour, oui j'essai d'y passer régulièrement, je vais bientôt mettre une nouvelle vidéo sur la réfection de la Ford C6
Quel artiste !
Thanks a lot

Yes, I use a transmission assembly lube, it can hold parts in place dissolves in tranny fluid at operating temp
